    This has nothing to do with the game, but Red team reminds me of some of the army comps I used to play back in 8th Edition of Tabletop 40k. Nice little mix of Guardsman, Inquisitorial support, and Grey Knights as the meat and potatoes of the force.

    OG as a player is fine. The guy is nice (if a bit pretencious). My main issue is juste how plain it is to fight him. Its just always the same thing. Takes away some of that wacky suprise you see from some builds. He is still a really good player tho. Plus, he rocks Lamenters, so he has taste.

      his strategy can actually create fun map plays cause the game stops being lane based. The reason I'll always hate his playstyle is his reliance on node spamming, a most obnoxious part of his strategy that people don't seem to mention

      It's infuriating and unpopular because he exploits the game mechanics, which can be quite abusive at times. TACs with Apo support are very tanky in T1 and flamers rape gens so fast, and then tacs cap it at extra speed. He usually doubles one side with a team mate to allow him to do his fast flamer bash thing.
      Especially races with no flamer type unit then take a long time (and need their whole army) to destroy the node to recap it again, at which point he insta nodes it again and repeat. (The infuriating part) Then after wasting a lot of time and you do get to recap it, his scouts stealth in and nade wipes the capping unit.
      Yes, it's well played, but can also fail hard when the opposing side does know how to deal with it.. (Keep the pressure on his lane power),
      And then of course the cyclone termie spam that insta wipes everything - tanks, infantry and yes, whole power farms in one barrage from 2 cyclone termies.
      Well played, but still, it's cheese and it's infuriating.

    the problem with spectating an overtly game is its always the same if it gets to your preferences.. he will get a few clutch plays, his team mates will be forced to carry and he is about as adaptable as a brick, it really takes away a lot of the excitement that a more natural back and forth game provides. Its not "how he plays" its more a problem with "how he only plays." 9 out of 10 games he loses that you cast he loses because he refuses to abandon the strat and help his team.

  • @josephjohnson5415
    @josephjohnson5415 3 месяца назад +23

    It's silly to listen to indrid try to defend overtly, and not understand the audience. It's not the way he plays, it's that he only plays one way and it is cheese. Cheese is completely legal and exist in every game that has pvp options, its simply means the most synergy of units. Which in this game is an apothecary with cyclone terminator spam, eventually you get to a point that no other team can push you off the field, that's the Cheese. If overtly ever played in any other method, used any other race, or hell a different hero, no one would have a problem. But if it's an overtly game, you already know exactly how it will play out:
    He'll abandon his lane to power bash, leaving his teammates in a 2vs3, rush teir three, get cyclone terminators as soon as each cd is done, and if you do kill them or force them off the field, he'll switch to plasma spam. Highly effective very boring to watch and likely infuriating to play against. I can't understand why anyone would bother playing with him or against him. But then he doesn't play people that knows him, he trolls nubs mostly, and they're never prepared for his antics.
    Edit: there's no maybe indrid, you cant beat three terminator with apocathery support, 3v1 can not beat three terminators with apocathery support. That's why its cheese, stop defending it. The community, or at least I, hate overtly games, we hate them because three terminators. Stop defending them, they weren't nerfed, they aren't capped like they should be, one would not be a problem, stop defending cheese.

      @IndridCasts  3 месяца назад +7

      I understand the dislike for a tactic considered very strong / cheese, but let's not devolve into hyperbole. It's not unbeatable, and certainly not unbeatable 3v1. Not only was it a very close game in VPs in the end, but the opposing team got multiple expensive vehicles when playing up against triple Cyclone Missiles.
      Edit: I do agree that Terminators should be capped since Seer Council are, but then do you cap Nobs too?

    • @Skysek
      @Skysek 3 месяца назад +2

      @@IndridCasts Oh I agree with you Indrid. It’s not unbeatable, it’s just the same thing every game he plays. Or most of them, I can’t really claim I’ve seen them all. I believe the reason the game’s close is because his teammates have to play with a handicap till he hits Tier 3. Then it’s termies galore every single time. It’s repetitive thats all

    • @josephjohnson5415
      @josephjohnson5415 3 месяца назад +3

      @@IndridCasts your in a 3v3, you cant have your entire team chasing down terminators. Your right this game was close but it was actually over once the second terminator was dropped. This isn't hyperbole, which overtly game have you ever cast in which he has lost? Eventually the bar is simply to much of an ask for any team and any combination, meanwhile he can just plop his army where ever he needs it; an army you can push but never defeat.
      So why doesn't every sm player use overtly cheese, I'd like to say the truth but it wouldn't be nice. The short answer is they are better people than to stoop to a one trick pony.

    • @IndridCasts
      @IndridCasts  3 месяца назад +3

      Yes his team gets handicapped, which makes it quite risky. Which goes against describing it as cheese, since cheese strats are usually called that because they are easy and always work. I don't think OG's play style is easy, he's just very good at this strat he's developed.
      This discussion was had a lot ten years ago when Techmarine turret/beacon play was considered cheesy and super strong in 3v3. Much easier to do than what OG is doing.
      Many players use the same builds and build orders all the time, or at least often. You develop a playstyle through the units you like and are good at using. They just usually aren't as recognisable as OGs, or as strong in certain scenarios.

    I LOVE seeing Overtly play EVERY SINGLE TIME. Yes, it's the same strategy, but the fact that opponents know it's coming only gets them so far. There are always tactical adaptations happening. If you don't enjoy it, that's your preference, but more of us do. And as Indrid said, if you want to see less of him, submit more high-quality replays instead of immature and toxic complaints.
    His signature play style isn't about incapability; it's a deliberate, skilled approach. It's like the distinct styles of great players in chess, shogi, or go. Recognizing a player's unique strategy doesn't make it boring; it shows skill and mastery. Appreciate the nuances and enjoy the game!

    I think Overtly play is fine, but he is getting predictable lately, and sometime also getting countered hard (I think his build is especially vulnerable to an extremely heavy T1 push to take advantage of his predictably small army), and also not that great at recovering when his strategy doesn't work.
    But then again, even if you know how he is going to play and how to counter him, not everyone managed to pull it consistently which is also a testimony to his skill as a player. Like in this case for example, Paladin and LR is so not a way to counter his Terminators build, I think Razorback would have been a lot better even if they are vulnerable to missiles (and they are one of the fastest vehicle in the game, so it's not like you can't doge it either). And if you want to melee, getting Purifier in additional to Interceptor will probably work better with their fast movement and silence ability to prevent teleporting.
    I don't think limiting Terminator is fair on that note. Especially when you still have an army of Nobs, Flash Gits, Kommandos and Carnifex

    Let's get some facts straight. Overtly is a very bad player. You only see the games on the channel that go long.
    Most games with Overtly in it end in 5 mins because the other team have baselocked the team with Overtly in since he doesn't have an army and it's basically a 3v2.
    His "playstyle" only works versus noobs.
    Terminators don't need to be limited to 1. They are basically already limited to 1 in a real game thanks to their cost. T3/red/cooldown.
    Would you rather have terminators be buildable from base? And have the global be replaced with something actual useful to win engagements?
    Or have a no power call-in like seers? While also being buildable from base. How about assault terminators for everyone? Sure, limit them to 1 then. Good buff.
    People also seem to forget they are slow AF and can't retreat. Stun them, or root them. Without Libby support they can be toast really fast.
    The shit being said on here is both hilarious and infuriating XD

    On of the reasons for og dislike is that he is a one trick poney. We only see "close" or winning games because that is better for replays but statistically he loses a lot with this stuff and frankly it's rather boring to see the same over and over and over again. This is also at the expense of his mates who must carry him through tier 1.5 and 2. This is also viewed by many as an abuse of the game balance that has SM authorized to build multiple super infantry units (terminator) that are excellent all rounder, while the other races are often limited to 1 super infantry "just because".
