Great show, guys, thx! My ideal situation: Dodgers win the division but have a tight division race in Sept., which leaves them sharp for the playoffs, while also welcoming the bye week. Then, they reach the WS against a wildcard team, which gives them home field advantage, ending with Kershaw winning the clincher. Done!

I want to start with my overall impression of the trade deadline deals.
I’ve already said I liked getting Ahmad back, he’s swinging the bat better this year and he came cheaply enough.
I also like getting Jack and even though there wasn’t a current need for another starter, there certainly could be, and especially since it’s not clear whether Kershaw can make it back to being a top line starter, and this is in real doubt ad far as this year goes.
Trading for Edmon is a bizarre move, sure he’s a top fielder but it’s a real question whether he’ll be able to come back from the surgery to pull his weight in the lineup.
We don’t even have room for all these guys even without Betts, Freeman, Rojas, Muncy, and Taylor on the roster. This will involve DFAing people and then why did we trade for these guys?
I said that the real outcome will come down to whether they can turn Kopech around, sure he looked great the other night but he is not known for his command and that has led to performing beneath what we would need to justify a spot in the pen.
Once again, there is only so much room at the inn, and the risk here is that Kopech performs below the guy who ends up being DFAd due to his presence on the staff.
Overall, as good as we may have expected, Flaherty actually outperformed Crochet so far this year and didn’t come with an insane price and we got some depth we can actually use a rea upgrade over Paxton,
With that said, we are in real trouble,,,

If the Padres move past the Dodgers than there’s no guarantee we will be in the post season

Heart, maybe. Hustle? This is the guy who dogged it in SF that earned a dirty look from betts.

It is clear right now that the Padres are a superior team to the Dodgers and it is probably just a matter of time before they overtake us.
At the very least if we face then in the playoffs again we are toast, especially with their bullpen. We struggle against starters and rely on feasting on a team’s bullpen, the Padres have one of the best pens of all time right now, we would indeed be in real troughs,
Our bullpen, on the other hand, is playing like shit with few exceptions, with Honeywell being gthe biggest one. This was his worst performance with 1 run in 3 innings,, contrast that though to Kersh’s 7 runs in 4 innings.
Thoughts go Buehler coming back is pure fantasy, he got rocked in AAA again, he doesn’t even belong at that level and his time with the Dodgers has mercifully ended.
We need to get back to getting more length from our starters as this is what happens when you don’t.

Pages and Outman need to go back to the minors. Pages needs to get his power back. Outman I am not too hopeful of him succeeding in the majors. Good glove, but not much with the bat. Sadly, I do not think that is going to change.
