    What if you're trying to convert 1x10^-3 torr to something else?
    I'm guessing you just write down 0.001 torr and convert it then.
    My big issue is we have a gauge reader that reads from 0 to 30 in Hg, and I'm trying to figure out if this reader can read as low as 1x10^-3 torr (and what its equivalent in Hg is)?

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  3 года назад +1

      Yes, just use 0.001 as your starting calculation.

    hi, im kinda confused about significant digits. i thought if youre gonna multiply/divide a number, youre going to choose the least significant digits for the final answer. not the given number for the equation.
    example for the first problem. 1 atm has the least significant digit which is 1. so does the final answer should be 0.9?
    pls correct me if u see this. thanks!

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  2 года назад

      The 1 atm is an exact digit with infinite significant figures. You can think of 1 atm in that conversion as 1.00000000000atm

    how bout torr to psi?
    torr x 1atm/760torr x 14.7psi/1atm???

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  5 лет назад +1

      True. You can convert from torr to psi by using the conversion (14.7 psi/760 torr). So for example 780 torr x 14.7 psi/760 torr = 15.1 psi. I try to keep my videos under 10 minutes, so that conversion just did not make the cut. Thanks for watching!

    How to convert mm Hg to kg/cm2 or kg/m2,What is the conversation factor for this

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  4 года назад +1

      Since pressure is force per unit area you can convert. 1 mmHg = 0.00135951 kg/cm2 so you can make that into a conversion and you can also use the fact that 1 m2 = 10,000 cm2. Or just use this website. www.convertunits.com/from/mm+Hg/to/kg/cm%5E2

      It’s just because it’s easier if 1 atm = some numerical value on the other pressure scales.

    You never did kPa to psi

    • @AnneSchmidt
      @AnneSchmidt  5 лет назад

      To convert between kPa and psi use the conversion: (14.7psi/101.325kPa). For example, 128 kPa x (14.7 psi/101.325 kPa) = 18.6 psi. This number was found by multiplying 128 and 14.7 then divided by 101.325. I try to keep my video's to 10min or under so I didn't end up showing an example of that type of pressure conversion. Thanks for your question and watching the video. Best wishes!
