i don't think that's the way is used at this time. i see like with all this anyway... we live in a wonderful world. Sorry my grammar. thanks for watching and commenting !
Who would have thought to pair the voice of Louis Armstrong with this song? Whoever did was a genius. It’s absolutely perfect. And the heart wrenching contrast between this song and this scene is something I still remember after seeing it once in the theater 36 years later.
Louis Armstrong sang this song, having lived through WWI, WWII, and Jim Crow Laws, and he still saw something beautiful in this world. Although times are rough now, with corona and the George Floyd riots, there is still something that even he would sing about, and find something either ironically or unironiclly beautiful/wonderful, as this video is. Stay strong, stay positive. Stay wonderful.
Though I fought in a different war, this video segment accurately captures a day in a war. People don't realize that while you are carrying on with a firefight or calling in an airstrike, nearby civilians are going about their business because life goes on for them no matter what's going on. And by the way, Louis Armstrong actually did sing this song at a 1965 USO show at Da Nang. God bless him.
What I love about this scene is.. this is the only Vietnam War-themed film so far I've seen, which featured daily life of civilians and soldiers/police in Vietnam. Love the cinematography and property designers. I especially love the scene at 0:46 where at the early morning soldiers marching into airplane with the background of the morning sun, 0:49 which shows civilians doing their laundry sounds close to reality at home, 1:46 street protest which is also beautifully shot, and 2:07 a lone soldier sitting down on the side of the street is so poignant for some reasons.
Do you ever feel like you love everyone in the world even for a moment ? the older I get the more I feel that and the more I feel that the more I love myself
Aaron Simmons that's the goal. if you could forgive yourself which is very difficult for all you have done to others or haven't done then you can forgive anybody. that's what the love of self comes and the love for others. You have to understand that you were born into certain genetics and desert environment and you could not have turned out any other way that you did because of the environmental influences and genetics combined which is only a DNA skin suit that you are temporarily using for part of your soul to manifest the Earthly Realm. wouldn't you agree?
Aaron Simmons there is no such thing as a Justified resentment and that includes yourself. The mind is a machine and it is harder to reshape than Steel. At least you can still bend steel even if you don't have a press brake if you put it in a vice and beat on it. the mind is not so easy because it separates good and bad according to its own criteria that it has developed over the lifetime of the person. false beliefs and ego, lust, sloth, gluttony, greed, Envy false Pride. dishonesty which is a product of fear. don't be afraid of nothing. don't be afraid of death. don't be afraid of how you die. Don't be afraid to suffer. There is always a solution under no circumstance is there no solution. you're never alone. Whatever problem you're going through You Are Not Alone. There's nothing that you have done that hasn't already been done. You're having a symbiotic relationship between an animal's body that may not have had its needs met during critical periods of development. How the hell was that your fault? forget about it. it's a new day.
I get choked up every time I watch this scene. It resonates with me as I did two tours to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. It captures the heartache of war on both sides and how war is evil and unjust. I have a lot of regret from my actions and service over there and how we treated civilians.
Mr. Satchmo, Louis Armstrong's voice, in the presentation of the wonderful Robin Williams, this is the result of the 80's + 60's. One of the best movies of the 80s.
Always nice being made to feel how wonderful our world still is despite all that’s happening to it now. Thank you both, Louis and Robin, so much. 🌎🌏🌍💚💙
I see trees of green, red roses, too I see them bloom, for me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world. I see skies of blue, and clouds of white, The bright blessed day, The dark sacred night And I think to myself, What a wonderful world. The colour of the rainbow, So pretty in the sky Are also on the faces, Of people going by I see friends shaking hands, Saying "How do you do?" They're really sayin': "I love you". I hear babies cry, I watch them grow, They'll learn much more, Than I'll ever know And I think to myself, What a wonderful world, Yes, I think to myself, What a wonderful world.
I pray every night the world still exists when I wake up . there's absolutely no need for it :( this song is so fucking beautiful but so heart rendering at the same time . Bless us ALL !!
What this song represents is to have the best outlook on life. This is no matter where you are from. I have been to China and South Korea. In some of the small villages the people are great full for what they have. It always meant so much to me when I came back to the States
For a kid growing up in the 1960's it was wonderful, but if you were 18 your chances were pretty good you would be drafted. I was one of those kids who grew up in the 1960's and early 70's who was fortunate to of had such a wonderful wonderful childhood, Thanks Mom and Dad. Miss you both.

Geez man this choked me up before the music even started. Just hearing Robin Williams talk, made me sad. This is going to sound incredibly childish perhaps but why can't we live forever..... I suppose life wouldn't be as precious if we had it for eternity.
Thanks for posting this ! This is where his personality as a person comes out to me. It reminds me of the movies he created that brought great emotion out of his audience. I will miss him as an actor...This song will be forever tied to him in my memory! God bless you Robin!
Thanks a lot for the sad and goods memories at the same time, God blessing you. The Great Satchmo in heaven with Robin W. together. And I listened for the first time when I was a kid. Thanks so much again.
How this was not a very big hit in America is unbelievable it seems to have just passed them by when the brilliant master Sachmo first released it . Loved that film. Maybe Robin and Sachmo are up there somewhere smiling, singing or even better laughing together.
Brit it was an #1 hit on the US Billboard Pop Charts in the mid 1960s. Matter of fact it was Sachmo(correct me if wrong) only top charter single in America in his illustrious career. With that said, I get your point on how Mr Armstrong did not have more #1 Pop hits.
Somehow this song comes to mind as we end the war in Afghanistan and a Hurricane strikes the city that Louis Armstrong was born in. The Great Satchmo could always see the better side of things.

The fact that a person whose life was spent with difficulties and suffering composed this song is an indication of an extraordinary personality..

I am really sorry about your mother’s passing. May she rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

I will never understand for the life of me, how anyone can not like this man's music.
