In her later years Roxy would never follow me more than a few yards from the house, but the funny thing is she would go anywhere with my wife. 7 years ago yesterday, sorry for your loss. I watched this video a couple of years ago and wanted to come back to see it again. It reminds me of a male collie mix I had as a child from '73 to '84 a year after I graduated. I wish I could travel back in time to see, pet and hug him again. Or better yet bring him back now as a puppy and have him with me all over again.
Yes, Roxie (playing the part of Shannon) is indeed alive and well, although she's starting so slow down. My wife cries watching this though, knowing Roxie's days are numbered. She was a mistreated and frail dog, who showed up on our yard 12 years ago. We gave her a bath (she hated) and she ran and ran, but ultimately had nowhere to go. So she came back and never left. The video shows her constant demeanor, playful and friendly...she also loves to 'grin'!
A beautiful song, but it hurts. I remember hearing it when our cocker was nearing fifteen and we knew there wasn't much time left. We had another six months with her, and she rests eternally in our back yard. Still love you, Til (1961-1976).

The other one is still with me. He follows me wherever I go. I love on him and sleep with him. I always slept with my dogs. I don't know how old Rocket is, but the vet said he probably had a year. That was hard to hear. I cherish every day I have with my darling. Dogs are just so human, don't you think?
I refused to bury my dog in a box. My good friends family own a funeral home. So I bought a baby casket to bury my dog, along with her favorite toys and pictures of my wife and me. Since we did not have kids,,she was all we had..miss her so much.

When I lost my German Shepherd (SAM) I went on a Jim Beam and Jack Daniels binge for 7 plus weeks, because it hurt, and 15 years later (after I dried out) still miss my dog Sam. I got another dog 15 years later and named him, Sam. A totally different breed, but he has the same characteristics (almost proves life after death theory). The relationship between a Dog and a human is very unique and special.
She was a beautiful girl, I know you must miss her. I lost my Tasha when she was 14 and although I have now gotten another dog and love her so much, I still think of Tasha and .miss her
i have had alex, sheba, sam, max, tuffy, pass in the last two decades and my heart never heals from the loss of the true friends that i have had. i know when i pass they will be waiting in a large flowered field for me to join them. god loves the beast and the children

Roxy usually lays around all day, but around the time I shot the video was when we give her a treat. She was excited (anticipating her snack) and followed me until I got about 100 yards from the house, then she suddenly looked back, thought for a second, and went back 'home'. btw, she did get her treat that day :-)

They aren't just pets they are my therapy dogs and my family members now that the kids are gone. I feel for all of you. I understand your love for your special family members. My heart goes out to you all. Gets better with time but you never, ever forget. They leave a special footprint on your heart forever. And yes all dogs go to heaven.

Mom's new puppy Chimo died of a broken heart Dec 24/07 shortly after mom passed.Tiny DD heart attack Dec 25/07. Tiny Rocco heart attack Dec26/07. Our rescue dog Simon best soccer player, HD & arthritis 2008. April 08 3 PB black shitzuh pups came from Mom and Chimo in heaven. One for me & each sister. They are family & each dog will be lovingly remembered forever.
I had to write today.I lost my oldest buddies. Bear was a Black Lab/Akita mix. Although he was suffering from hip displacia,and artrhitis, he was alert took his meds and very much an alpha dog. Wednesday night a friend and I went to the store. When we returned he couldn't walk on his back legs. We rushed him to pet emergency where they gave him a pregnazone shot for the pain and to help him sleep. Yesterday, he still couldn't get around and wouldn't eat. I knew this was our last night together.
@pleiades73 I know the feeling! It's been 2 years now & I still feel guilty about letting the Vet administer the final needle! Her lungs were filled; but she was still mobile. I gave her a whole box of her favorite treats: "Tim Hortons Tim Bits". before the final injection. She was half Hound Dog & looked-up at me with those sad eyes before she expired. "But I couldn't help her"! "I lost my best friend that day".
i lost my cat, mittons in 1989 & even tho weve had other pets since then, it never helped. i was 13 when we got him & i was 29 when he passed. so, he was my best friend thru my teens & 20s, now at 50, i still have not regained the faith in god that i once had. & never will! , as thieves , killers, rapist,etc live long & poison our minds. the loyal & oh so faithfull, cat & dog pass on ,& the pain lingers!. mittons fought hard to live with cancer, then he looked me in the eye ,as if to say
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We have had to put down 2 dogs and 1 cat. . Each time a piece of my heart went to.We had to put Rascal down first. Then Abby our cat. Last May we put our Cocker spaniel Baxter down. Rascal was going blind , he had alot of other problems and he was 15. Abby was only 3 but had feline leukemia. Baxt er was only 11 but was having grand mal seizures and possibly had a brain tumour or stroke. We miss them so much, but now have a little corgi to fill our hearts .TC
Dogs have a spirit and a soul....they truly are man's best friend. I don't know if Roxy is still with you.....But, always remember that she was YOUR companion with an unconditional love for you. I believe that sometimes the dogs pick their owners rather than the other way around. I truly hope that you won't grieve for too long.....I know she's very happy for all the time that you spent with her and for taking care of her when she needs you the most.
A pet is the best friend anyone can ever have. They are the friends people are incapable of being these days. They love in a way that humans cant and dont love. Read a story about a dog who stayed by his owner for several weeks after he pasted. When the body was found dog was by his side!! I dont know of a person who would do that for anyone!!!LONG LIVE THE PETS IN OUR LIVES!!!
I'm sorry for you loss. I lost my beloved dogs Penny and Ceaser back in May. It still hurts alot. Pets love you unconditionally and don't ask for much just love food and shelter. @itdoesntmattename Roxy had been limping on a back leg that was not recovering so we took her in for x-rays this week. She has a tumor on her hip and some bone deterioration. We are trying to make her comfortable and not sure how much longer she will be with us. She is getting lots of rest, her favorite foods and lots of love from her family. She showed up at our house 13 years ago and has been the best dog ever. I am so thankful my husband made this video of her 2 years ago.

Lost my favorite pet Zack almost 20 years ago,he was old and starting to really suffer so we decided to end his pain.and have him put down. Roxy continues to amaze us with her energy, given she's around 13. Not like a younger dog, but she still has plenty of spirit. She now likes to come in the house most every night and has never messed up anything, she just lays down in the family room in one spot, and waits for me to let her out at 6:30 am. The whole family enjoys Roxy immensley. Thanks for asking!

awww. this puppy looks like my dog Michael. He passed away last year just a day after new year. awww... I cried so much, I was with him all time, was just sitting on snow and touching his leg. Then mom took him to house and I was still with him. He was not JUST a dog, or my pet, he was my brother, I don't even remember the day when he arrived in our family. So, he was so important to me. Now, I feel so huge empty space, and I guess I will never filled it.

@pocorro In January, Roxy had hurt her spine or shoulder, not sure what happened, and was in a lot of pain. We thought she might need to be on pain medication for the remainder of her life. She responded well to Novox and I took her off of it after 3 weeks and she made a full recovery. She is happy, moving good and still able to go on long walks with us. She is such a fine dog and I'm getting ready to sit out on the front porch with her now. Mrs. Teleclasster

We got an Irish wheatened terrier ironically named Shannon. He was a show dog. He and my mum had a wonderful bond together like none I’ve seen since. She developed cancer at a young age and passed at 46. Shannon would disappear a short time later. Not long after we first adopted Shannon this song came out. Also Shannon was the airport nearest moms home town in KerryIreland.

Mom's new puppy Chimo died of a broken heart Dec 24/07 shortly after mom passed.Tiny DD heart attack Dec 25/07. Tiny Rocco heart attack Dec26/07. Our rescue dog Simon best soccer player, HD & arthritis 2008. April 08 3 PB black shitzuh pups came from Mom and Chimo in heaven. One for me & each sister. They are family & each dog will be lovingly remembered forever.
I had to write today.I lost my oldest buddies. Bear was a Black Lab/Akita mix. Although he was suffering from hip displacia,and artrhitis, he was alert took his meds and very much an alpha dog. Wednesday night a friend and I went to the store. When we returned he couldn't walk on his back legs. We rushed him to pet emergency where they gave him a pregnazone shot for the pain and to help him sleep. Yesterday, he still couldn't get around and wouldn't eat. I knew this was our last night together.

Her lungs were filled; but she was still mobile. I gave her a whole box of her favorite treats: "Tim Hortons Tim Bits". before the final injection. She was half Hound Dog & looked-up at me with those sad eyes before she expired. "But I couldn't help her"! "I lost my best friend that day".
i lost my cat, mittons in 1989 & even tho weve had other pets since then, it never helped. i was 13 when we got him & i was 29 when he passed. so, he was my best friend thru my teens & 20s, now at 50, i still have not regained the faith in god that i once had. & never will! , as thieves , killers, rapist,etc live long & poison our minds. the loyal & oh so faithfull, cat & dog pass on ,& the pain lingers!. mittons fought hard to live with cancer, then he looked me in the eye ,as if to say
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We have had to put down 2 dogs and 1 cat. . Each time a piece of my heart went to.We had to put Rascal down first. Then Abby our cat. Last May we put our Cocker spaniel Baxter down. Rascal was going blind , he had alot of other problems and he was 15. Abby was only 3 but had feline leukemia. Baxt er was only 11 but was having grand mal seizures and possibly had a brain tumour or stroke. We miss them so much, but now have a little corgi to fill our hearts .TC
Dogs have a spirit and a soul....they truly are man's best friend.
I don't know if Roxy is still with you.....But, always remember that she was YOUR
companion with an unconditional love for you.
I believe that sometimes the dogs pick their owners rather than the other way around.
I truly hope that you won't grieve for too long.....I know she's very happy for all the time that you spent with her and for taking care of her when she needs you the most.
A pet is the best friend anyone can ever have. They are the friends people are incapable of being these days. They love in a way that humans cant and dont love. Read a story about a dog who stayed by his owner for several weeks after he pasted. When the body was found dog was by his side!! I dont know of a person who would do that for anyone!!!LONG LIVE THE PETS IN OUR LIVES!!!
I'm sorry for you loss. I lost my beloved dogs Penny and Ceaser back in May. It still hurts alot. Pets love you unconditionally and don't ask for much just love food and shelter. At least I will always have my memories of my best furry friends. I am sure you feel the same way too. They are now in a special heaven for pets hjat were loved very much. No suffering
I believe in the messages from the other side an kept asking Chopper for message. Then I said a strong message. Everyone in the house continued to find pennies and dimes everywhere and asked what was going on? I told them I asked for a strong message from Chopper and it worked. Thank you so much Chop you silly Pool. It was funny.

my best friend in the world, Tigar. got cancer and had to put asleep, broke my heart so. he saved my life when i was really sick, never left my side-tigar helped me heal, this song makes me cry for my wonderful dog! I know one day we will meet in heaven again!

I also lost a boarder collie named Shannon over 30 yrs ago. Her picture is up and I still miss and love her. My 2nd boarder collie Chop was sick was deceased March 27th 2012. Can't wait to see you both when I get to the other side. Cry every day for you.

Most sweetest thing I have ever seen! It's making me cry! Beautiful song and beautiful dog! These dogs are our children. Buddy is getting older he has that grey beard. If anything would happen to him it would be like a family member going away! I am so sorry about your loss and I know it's been awhile, but I'm sure you still miss him and laugh at times, remembering the little and big things he did for yall!

@teleclasster I feel your pain. We are going to have our border collie put down in the next few days. He is in stage 3-4 renal failure, can barely walk, and not keep his food down. God please pray for us at this time..
I had a dog that was similar to shannon, her name was chloe. I lost her 2 years ago this november, It seemed like yesterday we were out walking, when I take the same paths we did it's almost like she is there. LUA Dad.
He's still alive, I had a brief note with him about a month ago. Sounded like he's still maiking it...Shannon, THE saddest song I ever played on the radio as a DJ.
@itdoesntmattename Roxy had been limping on a back leg that was not recovering so we took her in for x-rays this week. She has a tumor on her hip and some bone deterioration. We are trying to make her comfortable and not sure how much longer she will be with us. She is getting lots of rest, her favorite foods and lots of love from her family. She showed up at our house 13 years ago and has been the best dog ever. I am so thankful my husband made this video of her 2 years ago.

Lost my favorite pet Zack almost 20 years ago,he was old and starting to really suffer so we decided to end his pain.and have him put down. The thing is that he was a dead ringer for Roxy right down to the grey chin whiskers. What a joy to find this video tribute to your dog as it has brought back a flood of great memories about my dog and my pal.

Roxy continues to amaze us with her energy, given she's around 13. Not like a younger dog, but she still has plenty of spirit. She now likes to come in the house most every night and has never messed up anything, she just lays down in the family room in one spot, and waits for me to let her out at 6:30 am. The whole family enjoys Roxy immensley. Thanks for asking!

awww. this puppy looks like my dog Michael. He passed away last year just a day after new year. awww... I cried so much, I was with him all time, was just sitting on snow and touching his leg. Then mom took him to house and I was still with him. He was not JUST a dog, or my pet, he was my brother, I don't even remember the day when he arrived in our family. So, he was so important to me. Now, I feel so huge empty space, and I guess I will never filled it.

@pocorro In January, Roxy had hurt her spine or shoulder, not sure what happened, and was in a lot of pain. We thought she might need to be on pain medication for the remainder of her life. She responded well to Novox and I took her off of it after 3 weeks and she made a full recovery. She is happy, moving good and still able to go on long walks with us. She is such a fine dog and I'm getting ready to sit out on the front porch with her now. Mrs. Teleclasster

We got an Irish wheatened terrier ironically named Shannon. He was a show dog. He and my mum had a wonderful bond together like none I’ve seen since. She developed cancer at a young age and passed at 46. Shannon would disappear a short time later. Not long after we first adopted Shannon this song came out. Also Shannon was the airport nearest moms home town in KerryIreland.
