    This is a brilliant guide, i';ve learnt so much from your videos, one thing though...I don't know if intense is the best way of doing things, if i select intense the only real benefit i see is my staff gave experience points(head of aero and tech chief) I can rarely then build the part again and get a better part next time around. I prefer rapid because i can usually build a second part. For instance, in my last game i built 2 each of floor, and wings rapidly, and their combined score was better than any intense build i had for one each of them. I think depending on your expertise level, put all your mau hours on underfloor for the first two builds, and then rapid build the wings. Then depending on the new rules you can either switch to research or put all the mau/wind tunnel into the wings. Two designs on the underfloor as rapid i genuinely think is best way, only time i wouldn't if it is already a 85%+ design level

    Nice breakdown! I tend to use the "show rank on grid" button, wack everything to the bottom and slowly bring individual sliders up until everything is either improving rank or staying the same. As long as nothing is taking a penalty on ranking I'm happy. I'm currently 1st in both championships with Haas in season 2 and got 6 podiums in season 1.

    Good video. Next patch though is gonna balance out the upgrades so there will no longer be that big boost when putting everything right.

    1:23 - about this screen, max out the Design, Suspension & Test Center. Leave the others at level 3. I did maxed out all of them in my career and I'm paying $70M maintenance for it. Add $20M for the engine and you're stuck with $50M the whole season. By July I'm already receiving daily emails that my projected cost cap is exceeded! 🙂

    But the problem with the intense is our approach to Underfloor. If we use all our CFD and Wind Tunnel time, we can´t make a better Underfloor later because the CFD benefits don't add to the car part expercise. Therefore, unless we don´t use CFD and Wind Tunnel times again for a second Underfloor design which is very unlikely because we will focus on rear and Front Wing, we won´t produce a second Underfloor and therefore we won´t benefit from the intense approach and it will become a waste of time. I thought about this issue a lot. If anyone also thought about it or want to make brainstroming together, please write to me. Have a good game guys.

    I can understand that intense gives you more car parts expertise but when you put all the sliders to the max it will take a very long time to finish the project. In that way it seems it is only possible to design 1 new underfloor per season and I think that is not enough.

      On your first season you start at the first race, following seasons you have have 70+ design time before your first race, plenty of time to knock out a underfloor before the first race. If you wanna be efficient and think 1 design of underfloor isn't enough and are worried about time you could design your first floor with intense, which will give a boost to your next underfloor design due to the expertise gain and then do your second floor on rushed to get it quicker. This strategy works if youre not planning on say making more than two underfloors during a season.

    Thanks for the video NeroBax, it’s a gem!
    I have a few more questions regarding long-term planning, especially in the case of design vs research on elements not impacted by regulation.
    Suppose we only seek to develop underfloor expertise this season and don’t care about race results until next year.
    Then what are the pros and cons of running design on intense vs research with max cfd and wind tunnel time?
    From my understanding, cfd and wind tunnel time do contribute to expertise when doing research, while they don’t when doing design. But design in intense increases expertise gains by 1.5x.
    So do I understand correctly that it’s not a clearcut win for any approach, because intense design may outweight the expertise boost given by cfd and wind tunnel time?
    That one should compare 1.5x the normal design expertise increase vs the inflated research expertise increase?
    What are the other considerations?
    I guess research is less expensive?
    Assuming money isn’t a problem, is research maybe faster than design, in a way that its gained expertise/day is better?

      Design with CDF/MAU do give extra expertise, but it would be around the same expertise gains as it would give for research. The benefit of design over research is the intense mode. Meaning that for pure expertise gains intense designs would be best.
      Research is best when dealing with expertise drops from regulation and also when you wanna save money. If money and regulation changes are no concern I would be doing Intense design all the way but you would very quickly become the best car on the grid. You are also going to have a harder time gaining expertise the higher it goes so solely focusing on underfloor is not recommended. Try and get some work done on front and rear wing aswell.

    Hi Nerobax,
    When starting a career do you build a design of each part (obviously doing the CFD and wind tunnel hours in underfloor and wings) then when research is available go full research? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. Love your vids ❤️

      Both strategies are viable, you can go full design with a focus on mainly your underfloor and wings as that is where the biggest gains are but switching to research is also viable but you wont see the gains until next season. The goal is the same though focus on your underfloor and wings.

    So, in order of how much each part affects the car:
    1. Underfloor
    2. Front Wing/Rear Wing
    3. Suspension
    4. Sidepods
    5. Chassis

      Testing basically seeing what gave the most gains. Someone did the math though and there is a steamguide where someone dug into the exact numbers. Unfortunately can't find it now, I'm sick at the moment so not working properly I will try and find the link once I am feeling better.

    Thank you so much for your guide, it is very helpful. I do however have some questions. Let's assume you start the season with manufacturing a new underfloor. Do you let your engineers design front wing and rear wing at the same time without the use of wind tunnel hours and cfd? Or do you design one piece at a time? And when do you start to research for the next season? Also parallel to your design time without the use of wind tunnel time and cfd, or design first and after that begin with research? Thanks for your help!

      The main reason we put all our CFD/Wind Tunnel into a single piece is because it maximises the current stats for the piece, but also with intense we also boost our next iteration.
      We do underfloor first because it is the component that has the most to say for car performance. That is why I would advice putting all your CFD/Wind Tunnel into it, and design your rear and front wings without CFD/Wind for the first rotation, if your expertise stat on your underfloor however starts getting close to 80% and your rear/front wings are lagging behind by 10%+ I'd probably invest in them with CFD/Wind just because the higher your expertise the lower your gains, a general rule of mine is underfloor should be 5% ahead of wings and the wings about 5% ahead of the other 3 components.
      In terms of research that will depend on how harsh the hit is, is it minor (5%-10%) you can get away with researching fairly late and still be able to counter the hit.
      If it is large (20%-30% or 50%) you might need to start immediatly, just keep in mind that the AI is bad at huge changes to regulations and if you focus a full season of research into a -50% hit, you could end up with a car that is seconds faster than the second best car on the grid.
      Again I'd focus CFD/Wind into a single piece, underfloor first priority and then front/rear wings, I'd say very rarely should you use CFD/Wind for anything else and aslong as you focus it into these you should do okay. If you have design slots open feel free to create as many Underfloors/Rear and front wings as you want.

    I wonder if you put all the hours into lets say underfloor first in order to max it out why would we need the design centre to have lvl 4 oe 5 because most of the time the design process takes longer than it takes to get new hours?

      Every part of your car gives stats, some just gives more than others and should be focused on first due to this, being able to make 4 different parts at once is still a huge advantage.

    Hi there,
    Thanks for your videos.
    I have a question though, I started a career with Aston Martin, and I wanted to see if I can win everything.
    First season, I finished 10th with my best driver and 8th for the team.
    Season two, I finished 2nd and third.
    So quite a big improvement, I said to myself that season three will be so easy to win..
    And actually my car is now 19th in top speed and acceleration.
    And 1st for all the important parts.
    But now I'm struggling to keep up with the other teams in race.
    What happened exactly?
    Any thoughts or advice? Why such a drop?

      Have you had a regulation change that hit speeds in particular hard? Sounds very much like there was a regulation hit in your save that resulted in pretty harsh drops from a regulation change. Other than that I have no good ideas as what the reason could be.

    If you max out expertise points like 80 percent and spend some wind tunnel hours on a part, your next design is going to less stats than fitted one... So how do you spend hours before the research period begins?

      Spend everything on your underfloor, then the wings. The stat gain is percentage based, a percentage in underfloor is worth alot more in terms of performance than a percent in your suspension for instance. If you are getting to the point where you are a dominant car and will do research as soon you can you should just fully invest in a couple of parts but particularly the underfloor and your wings. Splitting aerodynamic hours is not something I would recommend, spending aerodymanic hours on a part you are going to make another design of is also something I would not recommend but you are sometimes forced to do so, and in such a situation I would invest everything into the part that you would use the longest before designing a new one.

    Hello. Does this guide still work or what tips for getting top speed and accelaration the fastest up and drs i guess go with race performane preset or aerodynamics one or what?

      It should still be accurate, they patched it in the sense that it is less effective but it should still be the best way forward in terms of pure performance gain. I will test out some stuff this weekend and come back to this comment if things have changed.

    Which parts affect tyre wear? Assuming any part which improves brake cooling for example?

      There are basically nothing that has a direct effect on tyre wear except your drivers skills and if you are pushing fuel/tyres during the race itself.
      Brake cooling seems to have an effect on driver lockups and in turn accidents.

    I'm new to F1 manager, and have only been playing for about 3 weeks. Because I wasn't aware of certain upgrade techniques I usually just kept the sliders on balanced. Anyways, towards the end of the season, maybe around Monza, I noticed in some cases, unless I tweak the sliders, some "upgrades" actually have a negative effect. Why is this?

      The comparison are usually with the rest of the grid average so without slider tweaking the parts your engineers might come up with their expertise level at the time will still be slower then the rest of the gird and the upgrades they are bringing as well. I am new too so this might not be correct.

      If you use CFD or Wind Tunnel time it boost parts beyond what your engineers are capable of. As a result if you design another piece like it it will usually be a downgrade, you can combat this by using intense design.

    Hey man, Im seeking your advice.
    I've tried following your tactics on concentrating in the 3 piece guide you've mentioned in your Williams play through, but I've come to a dead end.
    When designing parts, more so, the rear wing, I've found that newer parts that are developed are actually making my car slower.
    I've struggled getting any real top speed, and Im usually around 17-20th in relation to the whole grid.
    Where am I going wrong?

      Are you using intense design when making parts? Are you using all your CFD and Wind Tunnel time on a single piece or are you spreading it out?
      Also keep in mind that regulation changes need to be combated trough research to not lose stats, your top speed will mainly be affected by your underfloor and rear wing. Your underfloor should be your main priority.

      @@NeroBax I haven't been able to as the previous season I went well above the cap, and the season I just done, I did no intense development and broke even on the lowered cap. And now all teams have been hit with a 50% reduction in expertise so it's hard lol

      It should still be the best strategy yes. All sliders to the right still best.

      Patch changed it to be less powerful but as far as I know the strategy should still be the same. I will have a look into it though as I will probably be starting a fresh game fairly soon. I will respond here if I see things are very different.

    Can I ask something if u start a new season or something hoe can u stay the best in every season meaning how do u stay the best like I'm in Mercedes but I win the champion stuff but when the new season start u drop to like 7-10th best so help me Please!!!!!!!!!

      Do you do research? Every season you will have regulation changes that drop your expertise, basically your stats for different parts at the end of the season.
      Research is used to regain this loss and you can do it as soon as the regulations have been passed.
      Also worth noting that at the start of a new season the parts you are automatically given are not the best you can make, they are basically middle of the tree slider wise so you should focus on making underfloor and front/rear wings before the first race of a season.
      I would assume your issue lies in research. Hope this helps and feel free to ask if it wasn't the problem.

      1.8/1.9 made some slitght changes but this is still up to date. All sliders to the right got slightly nerfed but it is still the best strategy.

      Haven't tested the latest patch, but will give you an update once I know a bit more. It has been accurate for the every patch up until the last one atleast so will have a look sometime later.

    I’m not exactly sure what the expertise is supposed to mean?
    I was thinking you gain some bonus when you are about to design your next part instead? So if let’s say at the end of the year, I might only be planning 1 under floor upgrade(season ending) - then a rushed approach perhaps is better because is faster, and won’t be getting to upgrade again.
    Either that or i never seen an expertise screen …

      You aren't able to see the expertise gain on your design screen, but if you put in the same design on your research you will see the potential research benefit. That is your expertise gain, and the expertise gain from the project carries over to next year as regulation change is the only way you lose expertise.
      The design screen can be misleading due to the lack of expertise gain, the left side expertise is the expertise you had when you made the part, the right side expertise is your current. Again, the research screen is good for having a look at expected gains before designing a part as expertise gain is hidden on the design screen.

    I don't understand why new underfloor takes so much time..I tried design a new UF but I didn't cause game said it takes like 97 days..97?!?! Why? I tried with 6 engineers..Under 6 it was like 120 days..The whole season is like 200 days..

      Underfloor takes a long time but the gain is larger than if you spent those 90+ days on something else. Which is why it is so highly recommended. The first season is gonna be a bit hard because you start at Bahrain. In season two you have almost 3 months development time before the first race.
