I didn’t discover surfing until we moved back to Hawaii from Japan when I was 16. My step sisters took me out and I fell in love with the sport. Now that we moved back to Hawaii from the mainland I’ve been teaching my daughters to surf.

Surfing can really be really dificult for beginers... My dad and I used to go bodyboarding, that is way more simple and fun for beginers. It is basically surfing but you don't have to stand up on the board. I hope you try it one day!

Keep at it! I’m learning right now and it’s been kicking my ass, but its crazy fun and addicting.
I'm still getting used to surfing and I've been doing it several times for the last 4 summers. It's very tiring but I've found that in the beginning starting in shallower water to allow you to run can help give you better momentum and practice in waves that have already broke will give you a better opportunity to learn to stand on the board. I'm still trying to learn to read the waves. Your doing great, I hope you continue 🤙

Great longboarding waves. Perfect to learn on. Get yourself a bigger board / foamie next time!
You just need a bigger board with more float to start off with like a foamboard. Easier to paddle/stable and you will be less tired. Taito near ichinomiya is a better place to learn and way less crowded than shonen.
Hey Joe, little surfing tips for you
1) When u paddling to a spot and u see a wave coming, try straightening ur arms on the board and lift the upper body, resting against it with Ur palms
2) You don't need to stand up on your first couple waves. Try to ride the wave in the position mentioned above to get the feel
Small disclaimer above statements does not work with bigger waves (2meters+).

Great job! If you want to try the best water sport out there, you should try kitesurfing, but do a course on it first its not something you can just try out without supervision and training ;)
