I have these on my 2011 1200c and while they aren't the loudest, they are imo the best sounding i have ever heard. (they are still very loud compared to 80% of bikes i run into they are louder, but short shots are louder... but they are also higher pitched more "blatty""
Thanks for showing me your ride ,, I have the same bike ! and i'm looking for some new pips ,, looks like I found them ! I have seen the short shots and they don't sound as good as these do! also with the shorts you lose a bit of the chrome look ,, dont do it! Get these right here looks much better ! Rock on loud pipes save lifes and thats a FACT !
Steven Guldenstein Here, here! The Straightshots make an enormous difference. I ride in packs pretty frequently, and a lot of the big baggers don't even sound this good, or this loud, even if they have custom exhaust. I'm not even sure why. But it turns heads for sure.
About how much did the whole configuration cost you? I found a completely stock '08 for sale and was just wondering how much I'd end up putting into it to get like this.
I have basically the same bike (2 years older with carb) and am considering the same mods. After living with the changes for some time, do you think it was worth the expense and effort?
David Lehrer absolutely recommend it. What you want to spend is obviously your business, but it was a pretty easy install and the performance (and looks!) gains are something I appreciate every time I ride. It's probably too loud for some people, but they make baffles. Would make the same change every time.
Does that back wheel have a specific name? It has no spokes but is completely chrome like a mirror. I've always considered that wheel to be the best application wheel for the rear tire! But i've just never known what it was called so all I can do is just describe it each time lol.
That sounds pretty sick. I'm hoping to ditch the stock pipes in a few weeks for V&H upgrades... hope I can get that gnarly sound too. Anyways, sounds awesome man.
Thanks man! Hard to do it justice on a smartphone obviously. The difference is pretty staggering in person (caught me by surprise first time I fired up for sure). Had them for just over a year now. I'm thinking about ditching the V&H Fuelpak for a dealer download though; a little too much backfiring, gets obnoxious (especially since it's so loud). Ride safe!
Hey Isaac. If you have a carburetor model, yes, you absolutely need to rejet the carbs for the bike to run properly. If you've got any mechanical skills at all, it's actually not that difficult with some patience. Having said that, this is a fuel-injected model (no carbs). You have to "retune" the fuel injection system once you get these new parts on there, which means you either take it to Harley for a one-time download, or you buy a tuner. I bought the Vance & Hines Fuelpak tuner. You just have to call Vance & Hines, tell them what pipes/air cleaner you're running, and they give you a code to punch in. Dead simple installation onto the bike, too. I'm not convinced that it's the BEST solution, I still get a little more backfiring than I'd prefer, but it has been running pretty flawlessly.
+Kyle Miller I have stock pipes with screaming eagle mufflers, a v&h intake, and I rejetted my carb with a 186 main and a 46 idle jet. I'm pretty sure thats as high as you can go on the jets. my name's Tyler, im just on my girlfriends tablet
I didn't add the optional baffles. That's stock sound for the StraightShots. I've been tempted to add them because in the AM it's ear splitting. But, most of the time it's just awesome.
Thanks. Your bike sounds really good. I'm looking for a sportster right now. A lot of people put vance and hines short shots on it and I want to do something a little different. I would have to have the baffles thou or my wife would never hop on the back of it.
Jacob James I can't speak to the baffles by experience, but adding the pipes totally changed the ride for my girlfriend. I have a quick release sissy bar, and with the stock pipes and baffles there was so much vibration that her back would be red and butt would be sore from riding even short distances. The new pipes have really eliminated that vibration and completely changed the ride for her. Still, my $0.02 is that it's just not the greatest passenger bike in general just because of the size.
Thanks for the tip. I know it isn't the greatest passenger bike but my wife likes to go places sometimes. We have both sat on sportsters at the Harley dealer and she was a lot more comfortable on it then the bike I have now.
Yo puse esos en mi sportster 883, suenan bien pero la moto a baja velocidad me da tirones hasta que empieza acelerar, a partir de ahi bien. La moto esta remapeada.
You have to call someone a bitch make you sound insecure about yourself. You must sense some bitch in yourself is y you trying to take your focus off your bitchass tendencies and try to make feel like you do You lil bitch inside !!
Just put them on my 2007 Sportster XL1200L. Unbelievable sound!!!

sounded awesome man
Hey thanks man!
That's what I wanted to listen! Thanks for the comparison!
Your welcome! I hate the videos that drone on and on about nonsense before showing you the sound, tried to make it simple!

one do you prefer?
Thanks brotha
Are you in Oregon?
Do you need to reject your carbs when you put these on?

is it for sale in illinois?
I have those same pipes
Is there any baffles on those pipes?

How would a change in exhaust pipes change vibration?
How tall are you?
Nice 👌😎
may I ask how tall you are?
I have the same bike. My knees bend as of him so I guess he is 6' or 6' 1"

Wow stock is crap.
Nice video
Nice looking but it idles way to fast.
Re-jet*
you'll need to go up about 10 from stock if you want it to run good
You already look like less of a bitch with the louder pipes good job buddy
You look like you have really strong opinions on the second amendment.
