    Love how joker gets more of an emotional send off than the literal hundreds to thousands of people he's killed over his life time as a villain.
    Really puts into perspective the detachment people feel towards strangers.

      It's like Joker's line in Dark Knight:
      "If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all 'part of the plan'. But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!"
      Joker going on a killing spree or torturing a few innocents is "part of the plan", it's the status quo he's built in Gotham. But the moment when that status quo changes, when the most notorious man in all of Gotham finally bites the dust, and for once, a vigilante "hero" claims a life, no one can cope with it. It's less out of sorrow for the death of Joker and more out of emotional attachment to how things were before the plot twist.

      Sure more villains will pop up and not because they want to take over Gotham now that joker is dead. D.C just loves introducing criminals. Jason takes out the worst criminals before he takes out some random thug. It is pretty effective. If batman in the original movie didnt interfere with Jason's plan Gotham would 5x safer. Yeah, it's somber because Jason broke Batman's code (though he didn't say I promise before Bruce died...) And Gordon has to follow the law, even though part of him REALLY wants to celebrate the death of an irredeemable sociopath who crippled his daughter and terrorized Gotham for years...
      The only reason Barbara cried is because Jason cemented (at the time) himself as a criminal with the prior killings and Joker's death, while relieving, meant that Jason broke that promise.

    Honestly, what's the point of Batman's whole existence at this point. DC and the Fandom have wrapped the Joker in such a weird state of "Immunity" that just leaving him to do whatever he wants is somehow the best option.
    By DC logic, killing the joker somehow makes all heroes into unstoppable mass murderers and somehow makes 58 different new jokers pop up because reasons. Gotham and Bat Family dont really do anything except give him a slap on the wrist and put him in a 3* motel for a week until he goes and does whatever we wants do again.
    Like I can't truly imagine any other villian going "If you kill me, i win" and the hero going "Well shit, can't argue with that, have a nice day killing hundreds of people".

      It is flawed, but it's one of the reasons Joker is so good as a villain. Let him live, you lose. Kill him, you win but also lose. It creates some great storylines where you can really get into the flaws and psyche of Batman and his relationship with the Joker. The golden rule is generally the Joker and Batman are tied. If one dies, the other wins..... but they also lose. Batman faces the moral dilemma of whether he can kill more, and Joker defeats Batman but loses his source of...everything.

      Batman is gay for Joker at this point, Joker could even eventually do something so tragic, Batman would probably wouldn't give two shits about it. The longer he lives the more he can get creative with his killings, for all we know his killing joke would be a homemade hydrogen bomb in the middle of Gotham. It also doesn't make sense how Batman is a afraid to kill, since even in human standards like the military does that shit in a somewhat basis in missions. You either kill him and spare Gotham as a whole, or keep him alive so he can eventually destroy Gotham at any given time.

Only reason he’s still alive is because of Batman’s moral code, and since Joker knows he will never break it, he can pretty much do anything, and no one can take action, because Batman will come to save him, joker uses Batman like a bitch.

    • @bobjustbob2063
      @bobjustbob2063 3 года назад +1

      @ATrain Joker is too skilled, feared, and just down right profitable for DC to be killed of by a non-name. And even if the 1 in a million chance comes up where a police officer *could* potientially kill him with no cosmic reprecussions imposed by the author, batman has saved Joker from a police officer looking to try and off Joker on their own before. So there's no possible way for any other singular individual to do it.
      The legal system doesnt work because Joker has been written to be extremely powerful financially, not to mention threatning, so he can easily poof a lawyer into existence to defend him via insanity plea or whatever else being neccessary, so he'll just get shipped to arkham asylum for his 3 week vacation where he'll brake again and go right back to his usual schedule.
      But anyways, its been 9 months since I've made that comment, and im a bit more knowledgable on the situation, and it honestly doesnt make sense to argue about it. Batman is too mentally unhinged/compromised to pull it off, and Joker is just too popular to be stopped in any permanent or even semi-permanent way, so there's no use arguing. Any place that he could be put in for isolation/jailing will be broken out of, any cure for his insanity will be quickly reversed and even death is a minor hindrance via lazarus pits/whatever uncurable joker toxin he can stuff in himself to make a perfect copy on death that is impossible to be avoided or stopped, even by the great intellectual that is batman. So yeah, its really a worthless argument to have, hope you have a good one.

    If we're putting things into perspective.
    Gordon is not sad at Joker's death, he's disappointed that Jason (or whoever he assumes killed Joker) stooped so low as to kill him execution style.
    Barbera is possibly sad for a similar reason, but she may not actually be sad, they may be tears of joy.
    The morgue attendants don't seem to be emotionally affected, but if anything, they're probably shocked to see Joker's body being the one cremated.
    Lex Luthor views Joker as a valuable asset, so losing that is upsetting, but this is probably more akin to losing a large sum of wealth or a valuable trinket, not so much losing Joker the person.
    Harley Quinn is probably the only person genuinely sad at Joker's death and this is solely because her mind was completely manipulated into being sympathetic for the sick bastard.
    But again, as the audience it's weird that this is treated so somberly, considering who Joker is and what he's done.

    • @kentinson1670
      @kentinson1670 3 года назад +45

      Luthor would have to find someone just as psychotic to keep Batman occupied.
      Harley would be a deranged killer in this timeline. No Joker to hold her back means she'll be just as dangerous as he was.

      I would just add this. Barbara's reaction is probably one part catharsis and two parts reliving trauma. Hearing that the man that crippled her haf been killed would be an overwhelming mix of relief, replaying of bad memories, and then potentially being sad that Jason went so far as to kill (if she infers that it was him). Any sane person would react as she did.

    • @dragonspadeex
      @dragonspadeex 2 года назад +43

      Something to add.
      Yes, despite everything and despite what we know of Joker, Batman and Joker are basically two sides of the same corroded coin. While one stands for liberty, vengeance, and second chances as well as new lease on life, the other represents carnage, chaos, death, and destruction. But that's what made Joker so compelling to watch. Because, despite it all, we knew that Batman would stop him. He would never kill him because of two reasons. One, Batman is already teetering on the edge of insanity. To quote him "If I go down that road...I wouldn't be able to come back." Batman knows if he was to kill Joker, what's stopping him at one? He would basically be no better then Deathstroke in this regard, but instead of killing for cash, he would kill for justice. And that's not Batman. Second, this is what Joker always wanted. Every single thing he does is to basically taunt and goaded the Batman into killing him because, should he go threw with it, the Joker wins and has the last laugh for creating what could be a far worse monster then himself.
      But then...Batman dies. What then? Who is to be the Yin to Jokers Yang?
      This is where Red hood comes in. Yes, in many regards Gotham would herald him an unsung hero. After all, he just put down a man who basically has been nothing but a detriment to society. But the question is, what then? Jason killed Joker and...then what? Does he retire and leave forever knowing Batman can rest in peace despite him breaking the no killing rule? Does he continue the mantel of Red Hood and becomes a hitman for the scum of Gotham? And how long until Jason realizes that no matter how many bullets it takes, you can't just kill crime or evil? Would he be so far gone that Gotham would fear him and claim he's just a mass murderer? Would he turn into a new crime boss under the guise of cleaning up Gotham? By Jason killing Joker, he has basically filled in the roll that Batman never wanted filled and never wanted for Jason. A martyr.
      I think that's why Gordon looked so sad and why Barbra was crying. Gordon knows that whoever did in Joker most likely did it under good intentions but does that justify the means? As a man and father, I'm sure he has nothing but respect for the asssliant. But as a cop...it's far different. Because now he knows if he runs into the killer, he would have to try to take him in. And that wouldn't be fair...but it's what the law would want. And I'm sure Barbra is happy to see Joker 86d but...if Jason did do it...well she's more upset at what could happen to Jason and more worried for him. And yeah, he messed up but he's still family inn some aspect.
      As for Harley Quinn...Joker is dead. And Harley has such a broken and twisted psychie that I'm sure this would drive her over the edge and would probably turn her into the new Joker, or maybe even a Queen of Hearts. I think she would continue doing what Joker did, but it would be pure unrestrained chaos to the point of psudo nihilism. After all, Gotham took away her 'puddin'. Joker freed her and made her who she was...and now, Gotham is gonna pay in blood for what they had done. And where Joker would leave the world laughing and dying...Harley would leave it in tears and despair.

      Batman doesn't kill because that is the one line he thinks there's no coming back from, once you're a killer, then you're a killer. He admits that he does want to kill Joker but holds himself back from doing so because he doesn't want to be a killer like Joker or the guy that killed his parents.
      However, in my opinion, there are times when killing a villain is completely justifiable, Joker has killed ALOT of people and will never stop, Darkseid will always be a threat until someone finishes him, Doomsday will always be a threat. There is no saving or redeeming these guys and sometimes Superman or someone has had to kill them to stop them. Heroes certainly should not kill to solve their problems, only if there is no realistic alternative do you take that final step.

      I think the thing they're going for isn't Joker is dead, boo-hoo, it's that Jason became a wanted murderer. The problem with it is … didn't Jason become a murderer during the events of Under the Red Hood and associated comics? How's that not count?
      Not that comic writers know the details of these things generally, but technically in the DCUA film at least we never _saw_ Jason murder someone in UtRH. We saw him announce his presence and then get shot at, making a fair case for self-defense. But by comic logic that doesn't fly, and I still don't buy it. Mr. J is not the first body Jason's left the GCPD, even if he later rejoined the bat family.
      Yeah, but Jason straight up murdered Joker here. Executed him in cold blood. Can't argue with that, except even the good cops in Gotham aren't squeaky clean and the entire city's got reason to want Joker dead. So sure, replace a little evidence … Strange, this bullet wasn't fired from the gun Red Hood was using elsewhere. Like it was a fresh gun for just this one shot. Probably in the Gotham River by now. We know Red Hood did it? Maybe you know that, but … I can't prove it with this evidence, especially since the entire town wanted the clown dead.

Instead, he chose to stick to his principles no matter how many of his friends and loved ones got to suffer because of it -- because of his unwillingness to take action.

      Never mind that in the story Batman: Devil's Advocate, the one time Gotham finally decided to put the Joker on death row, Batman wrecked everything because he found out the Joker was actually innocent of the crime and that nobody, not even Gordon -- ironically -- wanted to believe him until he finally found the proof he needed to save the Joker instead of just letting him die at no cost to himself. For anyone wondering Why Harley Quinzel isn't Harley Quinn. The reason is complex but let me explain
    See death in the family happened in 1988. 2 years after Barbra was paralyzed by the joker
    Harley Quinn didn't appear for the first time until 1993
    This movie takes place (in comic logic) in the early 90's so Harley had fallen in love with the Joker but hadn't had the time yet to fully commit to becoming a supervillain

Batman and Red Hood are not the same in terms of morality, Batman can’t kill because he knows he can’t stop if he starts, but Jason doesn’t have that same pitfall, because Jason isn’t a symbol like Batman, he’s already in the grey and is comfortable there.

    The crazy thing is. If you kill him you let him win. That everyone has a dark side and everyone is just as crazy as him. If you let him live he continues doing what he loves. Joker is the best villain I have ever seen.

      Despite Joker's rhetoric, his death isn't a victory for him. He doesn't get to kill or corrupt anyone else. He's been stopped, permanently. His death is the end of his chaos and the reassertion of order. And frankly, the fact that killing him makes you as crazy as him is a load of nonsense. Joker killed thousands with a smile on his face and a song in his heart. He filled graveyards with his victims. By killing him, Jason saved every one of Joker's future victims. In this instance, killing ironically becomes a life-affirming act.

      @@kemp9842 but it’s proving his point to Batman. That’s his whole existence. Yah Jason saved thousands but he proved joker right. He proved that with a push people can kill and everyone has a primitive instinct to kill

      @@pancakepotato1953 Then that's a dumb point to make. He's pointing out something that's part of human nature; it's like pointing out that the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. He's like the annoying hipster trying to be deep, but has only an elementary schooler's grasp of morality.

    Lol why is everyone sad ? Joker just killed and tortured people for shits and giggles so that Batman can caught his attention. Jason did the right thing.
