Bonjour! I think that's the Frontenac Hotel? Back in high school our French class went there for a long weekend- (the poor man's trip to France!). We weren't staying there, but we took the elevator up to the top of the Frontenac and checked out the city from on high. A beautiful city! My wife went to Canada on a college tour years later and brought me back a few Tintin magazines and a Mandrake digest sized comic back- I think that Mandrake is the same one in one of the piles you're shown flipping through- Hope your family had a blast there!
You don't need to feel bad for the Nordiques, they would have never won that Stanley Cup if they stayed in the city. If they had stayed, then Montreal NEVER trades their star goalie Patrick Roy to their most hated rival. The only reason they made that trade is because they were no longer in the same province.
Quebec City is awesome! We go to Northern Maine every year and drive up to Quebec City every couple years. Recognize most of the sites in your video, but didn’t know there is a comic shop there! My wife will not be pleased with this info. 😎 Thank you for all you do!
Thank you for this amazing video! Quebec is an amazing place and we are so happy that you had such a great time. We hope that viewers of this channel come out and visit Quebec as well. Quebec City is probably the most friendliest City in all of Quebec, we welcome people with open arms from all over the world and don't be shy to give us your best French, we appreciate when people give it a try. Great video and subscribed.
A Very Good evening Michael A truly great show. I enjoyed it immensely. Firstly it was good to see you found the Umbrella academy, and outdoors too. The only complaint it was all to short, but hey it was your holiday, so thanks so much for taking the time. Good to see Jack in the video, he is a natural. Looks like you both had fun. I must say Quebec city was stunning, enjoyed the scenery greatly. Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next. Cheers Al TheGoldKeyfourcolorKidownunda
Thank you so much Alan. I made a family trip video that was about 40 minutes long with lots of nice scenery but I didn’t think comic people would want that much non-comic content so I chopped it down to what I thought was reasonable but still conveyed the feel of the city. I definitely had fun making it and I’m happy you enjoyed it!
Welcome to the great white north Mike. I’m a province over in Ontario. If you ever head that way - drinks are on me. Great pick ups and I hope you and the Fam had a great vacation.
Great video Brother. I Am a Canadian from Toronto Ontario. My Father is from NewBrunswick Canada. Thanks again for sharing Your passion and adventures ☺️👍❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦♥️📚💯💯💯💯💯
Bienvenue à Québec and you speak good français 👍 As you have asked , there are 3 comic books store in Montréal opened since 1983 or older. They are Komiko, Cosmic and capitaine Québec.
Those French comics were printed in St. Lambert, I grew up in the town right next to it, an English enclave called Greenfield Park. I'm in Toronto now, but still love Montreal & Quebec in general. Your love of Quebec is almost enough for me to forgive you being a Bruins fan. Go Habs!
Haha you’ll notice no mention of the hated Canadiens from me, despite my love of the province! Kidding aside thanks so much for the information, I love learning about these less common comics with interesting histories.

Hope you had a great vacation Mike, I really enjoyed the history lesson. I have to admit, the first thing I thought of when you said you were in Quebec City, was Alpha Flight! Glad you were able to score some comics up north.

You handled the intro in French very well Mike, tres bien! Quebec manages to blend the beautiful and the historical very effectively. I loved seeing those familiar Marvel and DC covers with French writing instead of English. HPL is one of my favourite horror authors and Alan Moore did a good job with his Mythos miniseries, plus Jacen Burrowes' art is just right for the stories.
5 years ago, was at Libriarie Premiere Issue and picked up NYX #3 CGC 9.4 . Totally Stoked!!!!! I recently went there this past June and almost got that Star Wars: Darth Vader # 3 1st app of Doctor Aphra CGC 9.4.
Quebec City is amazing ! If you are looking for the oldest continuously running comic shop in the province of Quebec, the honor likely goes to Komico in Montreal ! I've visited the store for 41 years, since 1982 ! Same owner too ! Capitaine Quebec, also in Montreal, claims to be older, but has changed owner several times. I've shopped there on and off since about 1979. Come to Montreal ! I'll bring you around ! 🙂
That is awesome! Best way to get foreign comics...go there! Lol seemed like a great city. The thing that stuck out for me the most it seemed so serene. Don't know if it's just what you caught or not of course. I've been a big city guy all my life, but to see one like that was super refreshing.
Geez Mike, you got better French than me and I had to take it in school up here 😅. Such a beautiful city and even better that you could find comics! Come on up to Canada any time and if you make your way to the Toronto area hit me up! Cheers!
Those French comics are awesome! I haven't read Providence yet, but it's on my list from your recommendation. And now I'll also have to find Neonomicon. Great grabs, Mike! Merci!
Wow what a great video. I went hunting in Quebec city 2 years ago and went to those same stores. That general store was beside my hotel and I accidentally found the comics and I was able to find a French language Iron Man - Demon in a bottle cover! :) it was so cool to relive my vacation, and the accent on your intro was actually really good:) Keep it up!
I’ve always loved Quebec City. We went out to the island this time which I’d never done before and it was beautiful. Thanks for the compliment on the French, I have to give my wife credit for coaching me
Bonjour Mike, your video intro was tres bien and almost as funny as your video intro when you found a Hulk 181 in "the Wild". Your french is much better than mine. Quebec sure looks beautiful so thank you for this sightseeing trip. I, too, buy comics in a foreign language when I am on vacation. Last year I was in Sweden and I bought myself a swedish Batman comic. Batman is called in Sweden "Läderlappen". Which would be roughly translated in Leather Rag.
That xmen book is brilliant, love the cover on it and an early xmen for about $60 is a good deal especially in that condition so well done mate. I’m from Scotland so I have many old 60s and 70s pence versions but I much prefer the cent ones which are harder to come by over here
Glad you had a great time in my home province. I'm originally from Montreal but now live on the east coast in Nova Scotia. Hopefully you can make it out this way some time. Lots of great shops here. Keep hunting in Weird Canadian places!
Nice pick ups. I've just recently started picking up Alpha Flight issues both for being my home country team and because I can get more issues for my money. Also, liked the French comics, I would have picked up a couple too. Beautiful X-Men book as well!
Hey there!! I just want to say I’m a new subscriber and am a HUGE fan of your show! I’ve recently gotten back into collecting comics again and in large part due to your videos! Very cool, international hunting. Nice finds, gotta go with Alpha Flight from Quebec lol its perfect. Hope you and the family have a fun trip Also side note, i am very much NOT a fan of Neonomicon book lol.
My first comic book ever was a Heritage reprint of Uncanny X-Men #137, that is why to this day whenever I see a copy of UXM 137 I juste HAVE to pick it up. A lot of american comic books were printed in Quebec, espescially in the 90's, all of Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse and a bunch of independents came out of the Quebecor press in Boucherville, right near Saint-Lambert too. And I know you'll probably get more offers like this, but if you're ever in Montreal hunting for comics, I'd be glad to show you the best spots around! PS: thank you for using the term Quebecois, it is much appreciated!
Hi Mike! With this video, I have seen all your video’s Over 70 and just under 27 hours of content! WOW😮. You can congratulate yourself, as after many years you got me collecting again, although on a budget. BTW on August 19th we have Plastic City comic con in Fitchburg, MA. One day show. Anyway keep producing great video’s and I’ll keep watching. Ron
Wow thank you so much for watching them all, I haven’t even watched them all outside of editing! It makes me incredibly proud and humbled to hear I’ve helped you get back into the hobby. I’m going tot try to go to Plastic city, very busy weekend for me but I will try to sneak it in.
Alpha flight was one of my favorites in the 80s first set i went back and completed when I got back into collecting pretty cheap run to complete. Then the new mutants not nearly as cheap 87 and 98 are more than the whole run😅

@@danielgenest9145 absolutely, Sakic’s gesture was one of the classiest in NHL history. For most of the time Bourque played for the Bruins he lived in my hometown and we would see him and his family around town often and I have lots of autographs. They still live in eastern Massachusetts.
Love the French comics, would love to visit there one day. I'm actually going on a vacation in August to the North Carolina Beaches and plan on doing a comic hunting video. Love seeing you go to different places.
Enjoyed the video. Apparently great minds think alike. I am planning to visit a friend in Seattle and head north to Vancouver to check out the comic shops (and the sights as well) while on vacation. All dependent on whether I receive my passport in time.
Damn if you were in Edmonton I definitely would have been looking for you. Lots of good comic hunting to be had here but the sights aren't nearly as nice as Quebec
I can’t believe I am saying this, but I like the little tour of the city better than the Comics. That is very unusual for me. I would’ve liked to of seen a tour of the comic shop, perhaps next time.
Not unusual at all! You actually saw the entire store, it really wasn’t very big. I took a ton of footage of the city for the “family vacation video” but only edited in a little to not over do it. I totally could’ve made a travel channel worthy video of that city without comic books and been happy.
Welcome. I'm a resident of Quebec residing on the island of Montreal. They just had their annual Comiccon last weekend ( July 14 - 16 ). Tried Googling oldest co ic shop in Quebec but have found no argument. Capitaine Quebec has been around since the early 80s but I don't think the current one is the original location. So maybe Premiere Issues has a case😝. Glad you had a great experience hunting in La Belle Province. Haven't seen those French comics in decades. Were probably easily obtainable in the 70s. But can probably only be found in antique/flea markets.
Thanks for the information! I didn’t know about the Comiccon, that would be a fun one to go to! Montreal is slightly closer to me than Quebec City and not too bad of a drive.
For a while there Astro Comics right across from Capitaine Quebec were claiming to be the oldest comic book store around since they opened in the 70's, but they've been closed for a few years now
Captain Quebec was the one selling books to Premiere Issue when André (The owner) began selling comics on a cardboard rack in his appartment so Cap was certainly there before !! As for those Les Editions Heritage books even HERE in the Province of Quebec (THE market they were made for) they are WAY harder to find than ever and as Foreign collectors buy them more and more they begin to be way costlier too (Reprints of keys mainly). More often than not you find books taken out of Comicoramas or very badly used ones.
Interesting you found a pence copy, they came from the same print run as the American versions and were shipped over here. How it ended up globe trotting back to the states with you would be a fascinating tale on it's own!
Edition Heritage keys are heating up these days, lots of great titles. You have to be wary of trimmed comics that have spine damage due to glue. EH bound remaindered copies and a lot of collectors pulled them apart for individual issues.
Quebec City Comics! 📚📚📚

HAHA je ne m'attendais pas a l'intro . Bonjour de Belgique . Pas beaucoup de Comics VO par ici malheureusement
Je suis content que vous ayez été surpris!
Mike come down to southern ontario..that's where the best books are.
@@RudeMekanicals Didn't knew Astro finally closed. Sad to hear that. Was an old school store.
@@danielgenest9145 Don't remember when they closed exactly, but definitely pre-covid
I always liked reading comics without colors, if the art is good, it stands out more, if it's bad... colors help again please!!!
Interesting you found a pence copy, they came from the same print run as the American versions and were shipped over here. How it ended up globe trotting back to the states with you would be a fascinating tale on it's own!
You'd be lucky to get anything for 10d these days! That's less than 5p
I wish i could move there tomorrow shuch a beautiful place.
Edition Heritage keys are heating up these days, lots of great titles. You have to be wary of trimmed comics that have spine damage due to glue. EH bound remaindered copies and a lot of collectors pulled them apart for individual issues.
I was told that pence comics are not what collectors want. I personally think it shouldn't matter.
