Looks like journalists have also been tricked by these modern cars. The BAIC is the only car under 500k with 130kw and over 300 of torque. That's a huge deal, if you have driven a Chery tiggo 4 or 7, you would know the primary selling point is the engine. I own X55, have owned it for 6 months, it's a great car. No competitors at this price. look at the kw and torque friends, its a rip off, to get a bmw X1 with this power you would have to fork out 850k. Let that sink in.
Yes, but I recently got the brand new Bmw X1 20d as my first car. It’s amazing!! The attention to detail is just on a different level. The driving dynamics and just the refinement is on a level above another car.
Remember you always get what you pay for.
Not saying it’s a bad car, and I must add the Baic is much better value for money no doubt. But the BMW just has something special.

I traded in my 2015 bmw 118i, it had 125kw, I didn't want to get a smaller engine and pay more way money so bmw was out of the question. when I drove the Chery tiggo 7, the interior was really pretty, but when I drove it, it lacked gumption, manufacturers use all the interior quality and tech to lure people into buying cars that look good , but with a tiny engine, we buy a car to drive, when we drive we not touching materials, looking screens, we are interacting with the engine. I guess my 118i made me drive in a certain way, really was a fun car to drive, the BAIC gave me a similar experience in a larger car, it's tech is actually way worse than the haval, Chery, screen is an after thought, no physical Aircon buttons, hazard light above the rear view mirror, no real climate control, it's either ice cold, or hot , but man the driving is German feeling and it looks like mars rover.
You must understand that there is no car like a BMW to drive it, maybe Porsche, but ordinary cars BMW is best and I drove almost all European cars. @@NIANDREVZ
Critique ....... 1... less camera time on you , more camera time on the infotainment system ( You hardly showed much ) . 2... The drive /handling ....3... You failed to mention service plan / warranty , hell you even forgot to mention if it had Apple car play / Android auto . Boet , you have the personality , character and charm to make a success of this channel , just need to tweak a few things 👍
I would have liked this review but the mental fixation with anything European being better was annoying. Why can't a Chinese engine be better on its own? Why must it be suspected that Germans had something to do with it? That mental fixation, which also has racial undertones, is the reason why South Africans will never maximize value for money! Something doesn't have to have European connection to be better! That's really backward thinking!

It looks like an amazing car and I have been in one, it feels very very well put together. But in this day and age you cannot leave out the fact that it does not have Android auto or Apple car play. The omission of this boggles my mind and it has prevented me from even considering it further.
I was worried about this too so I went to check the car out myself. It has carbitlink and you can almost say it's way better than Carplay in my opinion. There's still an option to have the carbitlink like apple carplay or Android auto. If not, you can literally mirror your phone on the screen and use more apps than in your conventional carplay. It's just sad that no reviewer actually cared to connect to this system and show people how it works.

The fact that it doesn't have android auto or apple carplay is the only reason i won't buy one because that is something we use on all our car's every single day constantly.
@@nigelnaicker7948 i tried it out and it doesn't work they way android auto does in my opinion. If i could have it fitted aftermarket then i would but the car is to new for that currently
If someone never had that feature in a car before they wouldn't prioritise that as a factor considering where its priced.

No Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? But you can get it in the Suzuki Celerio

On Alibaba price are 4500-5000$ for 1 unit!! it could be that import taxes,shipping and everything else will be cheaper at the end then buying at dealers here
No it is not the price in china, seller in alibaba like to post some wellknown picture to advertise, but if you buy it 4500, i can assure you, you won’t get this car, even if you live in china.

The basic is a handsome car but I’m not a fan of the fog/headlights, deal breaker, that and the lack of physical buttons on the dash.
Truly very long video, needs proper editing, repeating on LCD SCREEN, MERCEDES, WAS WAITING FOR ENGINE AND HYBRID DETAILS , 4WD OR NOT.

Roughly it's the size of a Mazda CX-5 or Rav4 It's not 4WD, but it's a solid car, got lost in Bergsville and ended up on a 4X4 trail, after an hour I had to turn around, it got us out safely, so it can survive some light off road. Only 1 engine across the range, 1.5lt Turbo, 130kw and 305 torque, that's higher than all it's rivals, it's a sporty feeling car to drive.
X55 ??? At least can these Chinese Car companies get innovative with naming conventions ???

It may be in the competitive market in the price range, but your insurance is going to be hectic on your premiums. Why.. glad you asked, because should your BAIC Beijing be in a accident, the parts need to be imported. And this the presenter left out.
This is the main reason why I won't buy this car, apparently the wait time on parts is 3-6 months which is ridiculous
@tulzm6594 that's a lie. You don't wait for more than a month because it's now assembled in PE...people are so misinformed but would go for older "trusted brands" that still have a waiting time of 6 months for parts...but hey..asikho lapho
When did they start assembling the car in PE? Many/majority of the complaints online from people that have bought this car have complained about 2 things (mainly), poor after sales service and the wait time on the parts.
@tulzm6594 go on the internet or at any of the BAIC dealerships and you will get your answer. Even many of the reviewers in SA said they are being manufactured in PE so it's misinformation to say that they lack parts. What they even do is try to even remove parts from stock cars and put them in yours so that you don't have any issues...research man, research
