Haha I appreciate the good words, there's many people who are way better than me tho. Luckily it's not about being the best it's just about figuring the right things out! Gamsa Habnida!
Bro, thank you so much! This tutorial is amazing and is what I needed. I've been working really hard recently and wanted to do something small and this was perfect.
Thank man! You saved my life. Thought that it would not be possible to get a good skin in Octane which is my favourite render engine. You provide me so wrong :)
Hell yeah dude, I thought so too at some point! Glad to prove otherwise. I think there's still PLENTY of things Octane can add to make skin texturing more accurate and detailed, but this works for what it is.
Thank you dude! All the beats I use in my tutorials are beats I made, I figured I have so many unused beats on my computer, I'll just use them and save me the copyrights issues lol
Yo thanks! Just uploaded a tutorial on how I convert materials from Daz to Octane, maybe it'll give you some ideas on Redshift? :) ruclips.net/video/ZSKFYe0aUfI/видео.html
Back to this epic tutorial again and wondering, if you ever thought of doing a more advanced skin tutorial with texturingxyz maps? I found much with maya-mari-arnold workflow but none using cinema 4d-octane
@@zan7756 well that's true! i never saw anyone working with texturingxyz maps and cinema 4d, but it's the only software i know. maybe i should try maya
Brother I like your videos alot and understand well than others tutorial Please start making videos for Arnold too if you can use it there are less works for Arnold so
Thank you sir, I haven't touched Arnold in a long time, but when I get back to it I'll definitely make tutorials about it - it's such an incredible engine
Hey there! I am currently following your tutorial but am stuck at 4:19 seconds. After applying the material to my head object, it shows the skin texture map on the head but the size/scale of it is not proportionate to the size of head causing the texture map to look extremely stretched and disproportionate to the size of the head. Is there a way i can fix this? I hope you see this and thank you for helping.
Are you talking about the micro-details normal map? You should scale it down and if your model doesn't have good UV maps, set the projection to something that can wrap around the model better. Try Box projection.
@@NewPlastic thank you do much fir the reply!! Sorry i am super new to this so am a little confused with ur question. I am referring the the 3D scan model head JPG file that was used to create the mixed material in method 1. The model used is the head model from 3d scan store you provided in the link description. I followed all the steps you did: - creating a figure first - scaling head model to same size as the figure head - creating octane glossy material - plugging in the diffuse, specularity, roughness JPG textures to the glossy material - applying the glossy material to the head (4:19 seconds) When you did that the skin image was wrapped perfected onto the head model but when i did it it is not proportional to the size of the head model and appears to be too big so the skin wrinkles and facial features looks extremely stretched on the head model. Did i miss a pre requisite step that you did that was not shown in the video that ensures the skin wraps perfectly around the head model?
Fantastico....woooww spero che in futuro tu possa anche fare un video sui movimenti facciali...come si crea una texture da zero? Come si può fare muovere le varie parti della faccia?
I think you refer to facial movements? That is a whole world that unfortunately I won't be the best person to explain. If I discover any new things, I'll definitely be happy to share them in the future! Grazi!
Same for me, once I plug the gradient to invert the dirt node, it turns the SSS black and I haven't found a way to solve this! Any ideas? Thanks for the amazing tutorial!
Yup, was following along and hit this same issue. The Fake shadows do nothing. The SSS is black. Would be lovely to find a solution for this, because atm I'm not seeing it :) Thanks!
Awesome tutorial. I'm following along with redshift, and it's going great, but I'm stuck at 7:50. I have the exact look until you press "randomwalk", which Im assuming inverts the SSS. Do you know if there is something like this in redshift? Because the head is letting a lot of light through but my ears and lips are pitch dark. Thanks
Thats a good question, I would assume you can't because each texture-map is designed in a way that fits the proportions of the model and the UV maps. So there's no chance it will fit automatically. HOWEVER! I'm sure that with some creative blending, liquifying, moving and masking in photoshop you could fit the high-end scanned textures to your Daz textures. I remember seeing someone do something similar in a video a whole ago but for the life of me I couldn't find that video, and I searched for days. But it's a good idea for a tutorial! I'll have to try and report back.
3d Scan Store def has some of the best human scanned models out there. You can also find good ones on the Daz3D store (if you have Daz you can import them to C4D), or Reallusion if you have their CharacterCreator app. And you def have some good ones on Turbosquid and CGtrader.
Im trying to buy packs from your Gumroad page but the payment isnt getting through. the page just freezes. anybody else having this problem? anywhere else we can buy them?
Oh damn, what version of Octane do you have? RandomWalk started with Octane 2020 so you should def update ! It has many other cool features too that are useful

Still the best tutorial on this!
How are you previewing what a specific map is doing in context of the mesh?
I can't find this answer anywhere.
I mainly use blender for octane but this has still been a massive help. Thanks mate

hello,this tutorial is amazing,but octane 3.0 isn't have universal marterial,how to do this effect in the octance3.0 ? thx。
The first technique I show should work in previous Octane versions

omg thanks you for the tutorial!!!, i have a question.. how i make the specular material? :(
Just add a specular material, it's on the material list!
Incredible ! What steps would be taken to animate it?
Good question. Probably deforming and sculpting the face and saving it as Pose Morphs animations would be easiest.
Hey do you know I can we add some slight grooming on the skin to make it even more realistic with C4D ?
You can edit the image textures in photoshop and add details you're looking for. I do that with Daz models
Can you share me this 3dscan? i can't find this head exactly, thanks
amazing tutorial thanks so much! is it possible to swap out the image textures with ones from daz and get the same results?
did it and it worked :) thank you
Happy to hear that. I have a black skin tutorial with a Daz model too

nvm, figured it out. My refraction was at 0, and when I put it at 1, it's working properly now :D
@@tinfoilhat1405 Nice! I'm not sure if Redshift has Randomwalk but honestly, with some tweaks, other SSS mediums would work too
Can you replace the daz3d skin with the 3d scan store skin? Like if i found a female model on daz3d can i use a different skin on the head scan store?
Thats a good question, I would assume you can't because each texture-map is designed in a way that fits the proportions of the model and the UV maps. So there's no chance it will fit automatically.

Pretty much, check out my Black skin tutorial It shows how I apply this method on a Daz imported model
