"Main kisse kahoon mere saath chal, yahaan sab ke sir pe saleeb hai ".
Here, saleeb means a 'cross', on which Jesus Christ was made to walk around the streets carrying it on his shoulders before he was crucified on the same. The metaphorical in the ghazal itself is more like : These days everyone has their own 'burdens" (depicted by the cross on shoulders), his own problems and responsibilities.

Hi to anyone who is listening to this today.. God Bless his soul. He was like a medicine to everyone - happy, sad, romantic, demotivated people. Fortunate to have met him 2 times backstage and have never met a balanced, kind, and phenomenally mature person in my life. A typical fun-loving Punjabi with a philosophical outlook. Miss you SIR.

I didn't get the privilege of seeing him live cause i was very young when he died...I was 6 when he died and around then only i started to listen him...

I think I heard Jagjit first time when I was 13. I am 38 now and I still have to discover his music fully. Brilliant man. It's quite unfortunate for me that I couldn't attend his live performances

I had the privilege to attend his concert at Hammersmith Apollo London.He is superb.use to sing on request one after another.....pure Bliss...

I have been fortunate to attend his two live shows one was in Bombay and then another in Toronto Canada this was just before his demise .I can say both times it was a spiritual magical experience .

It was my lifetime desire to listen to him live......God was kind to grant me the opportunity to listen to him live in Mauritius in 2011. He started with the gazal "thukrao ab ke pyar karo" and modified it to "thukrao ab ke pyar karo, main 70 ka hu" and he added some slur to sound like a seventy year old........but unfortunately he left for the heven within a matter of 6 months!! The empty space left by him can never be filled!!

I started listening to Sir Jagjit Singh since I was 7-8 years old. I still remember the first ghazal I heard, it was - Jhuki Jhuki si Nazar. And it was just mesmerized with his voice and lyrics. I feel unlucky that I didn't get a chance to go To his live concert. :(

I was introduced to Jagjit with Marasim (2000) at age of 19. It has been 21 years now. Jagjit Singh's voice made me fall in love with Ghazal. In addition to Ghazal Samrat, I also appreciate listening to maestros like Ghulam Ali Sahab, Farida Khannum, Mehdi Hassan.
