Quick correction: After looking over the most visited theme park charts again, I believe that the data from those charts were collected all in one year and not across an average. Also, Kings Dominion drew in 2.18 million guests, not 2.8 million. Thanks for watching!
The good thing with these rides is that they don't have a lift hill, so they have a much shorter cycle time than other coasters of a similar length. There's also a good chance that they won't have bins in the station, which would also speed up dispatch times.
For the sake of these parks, I hope they have an effective locker system. I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high because this is Cedar Fair/Six Flags we’re talking about.
They don't need to be capable of three train operations to have adequate capacity; assuming they are able to park quickly, and the attendants can get the next train ready for dispatch by the time the previous train returns. It would be good to have 3 trains even if only 2 can be run at a time
Depending on the speed and pacing of the ride capacity might not be an issue that much but alpine fury could benefit from a slightly longer train but considering alpine Fury goes over 75 mph maybe capacity won't be much of an issue with the two trains
For Canada Wonderland, I guess it will all depends on how much more crowd the ride will attract to the park. Since it already has Behemoth, Leviathan and Yukon Striker. If it just split the crowd off those 3 without gaining too much more, it will be fine - granted with a longer line up for AlpenFury
@@BliXXardStorm I agree, my family and I all of season passes cause we live close, it’s gonna be a nightmare trying to get past the center of the park if we visit
Canadas Wonderland has 91 attractions more than double what KD has which helps disperse the crowds also Maverick has the same capacity as alpenfury and CP has similar attendance as CW
@@BliXXardStorm Hopefully they implement everything you mentioned especially for premiere debuting a coaster of this scale at one of the most attended parks in the chain
It seems that the parks either aren't worried about throughput, or are seriously banking on people being willing to wait in hours long lines for new attractions. That's not going to be substainble long term. It already looks like the Cedar Fair/Six Flags merger is not working out well, they're already trying to cut back in places that are important.
If the rides have lockers and metal detectors, and no seatbelt, I could see the capacity being OK. Without a lift hill and 3rd train you take 2 minutes off the ride: 1 minute for lift hill and 1 minute stuck in brake run to get off. As long as ride ops can be super fast it will be ok. I highly suspect Alpen will have lockers/detectors because of the way it dangles people over a very high traffic area.
Well Alpen Fury is also going to have the worst designed trains in the industry. Seriously Premier needs to take notes from Zierer or Vekoma on making comfortable looping coaster trains that only have a lap bar or vest system.
it was confirmed by the director of communications at wonderland that its only a lapbar And there probably wont be that triangular side panelling beside the seats that you can see on other rides designed by premier because that can’t be seen in any of the animations, the seats also look wider aswell
Assuming both trains are in operation, I don't think the lower-capacity trains will be an issue at King's Dominion. Compared to Cedar Point, or even King's Island, KD doesn't have as many guests on a given day and wait times are minimal, to tolerable, even on a Saturday. As for Canada's Wonderland, people will just have to wait. For peak days, these rides going down to one train will obviously suck; hopefully they have more than two trains.
I agree with everything you pointed out. I’m more concerned about Wonderland’s scenario with AlpenFury compared to KD’s scenario with Rapterra. Thanks for watching!
Wonderlands gonna need another major attraction that has good capacity to better deal with the crowds. The park cannot afford to wait another 6 years to supplement alpen furys lines.
I feel like cedar fair or now six flags definitely needs to invest more in it rather than a few of the other top parks because the crowds are a much bigger problem than any of the other parks
Lol consider Efteling, the third most visited Theme Park in Europe, with 5.000.000 guests + visiting every year, build a dive coaster in 2014/15 with a hourly capacity of 550 people per hour... I think these can do better at least 😂🤣
Well, both parks are obviously going to bring in many more people with advertising and marketing, so busier days will likely see much less effective operations/capacity. Imagine those 5 million park goers visiting all on one weekend compared to spreading them out across the entire year. (a bit of an overexaggerated scenario, but you get the point.)
@@BliXXardStorm Efteling has a lot of big darkrides that compensate and can run 2300 people per hour. Maybe the Six Flags park could invest in such rides? Huge people eaters and it will attract families?
@@BliXXardStorm It's my home park. I am there a lot. Yeah maybe if they could run a third train there are half a dozen days during the year it would make a difference. In reality for almost every other day this is fine.
@@BliXXardStorm yeah, I mean it would have been nice but in reality I think for KD this is fine. CW is a totally different beast though and I do worry about the capacity there.
If intamin built alpen fury for universal, it would be capable of 6-10 train ops. It doesnt need that many but god forbid thry designed it for 3 train ops. Full throttle at magic mountain often runs with 1 train... people just wont wait more than an hour or 2 and shouldn't need to
For sure. 6-10 train ops is a little overexaggerated, but who knows? They could totally do it. And yes, this will probably be a very similar situation with Full Throttle. Hopefully, it is reliable!
That would make sense in theory, but I think you underestimate the true importance of capacity and operations. Besides, I’m sure that it barely makes a difference anyway with monthly inspections and yearly maintenance.
@@BliXXardStorm by adding a 3rd train they would end up giving 50% more rides in a day. When a line is short people will get back in line and ride again but if the ride has a hour wait they will move on to somthing else "shopping, eating, riding somthing else" parks need to have lines because it forces guests to do other things. If they had super fast operations the coaster would give more rides which means components like the lsms, brakes, wheels, ect all wear down quicker. When you add up all those extra rides over a few years the amount of extra maintenence cuts into the parks profit margin. They need to have a balanced que long enough to detur riders from getting back in line but not so long that people don't have time to go shop. Look at rides like dualing dragons at at islands of adventure. If it was located at a seasonal park with less guests it could have run for another decade if not longer. But since it was a people eater and could shoot guests out like crazy it ran more cycles it also ran all year instead of going down in the winter.
@@askjeevescosby2928 good point. But I feel like AlpenFury’s capacity specifically will be concerning by not allowing guests to go through and do everything in time because it’s in the front of the park.
