- Guitar and synthesizer demo of the crashing shoegaze soundwaves within the Keeley Electronics Loomer Reverb/Fuzz
Available for purchase at: thepedalzone.c...
The Loomer is Keeley’s take on the iconic Shoegaze sounds of the 90s. Equipped with 3 unique reverb modes on one side, spanning from an auto-bending reverse reverb, modulated soft focus ambience and a shimmery hall, plus an absolutely monstrous big-muff inspired fuzz with 3 different voice modes on the other, this pedal is far from shallow, as every turn of a knob will take your further and further down the atmospheric wormhole.

Hahahahaha holy shit, that’s fucking hilarious!!!!!!!!!
Ahahah no shot that’s funny
Now it’s Our bloody valentine
Ha! Indeed ❤
This synth tone at the end is LIFE
Really happy you enjoyed that bit. I really love that example as well. Blew my tiny mind when I discovered it ☺
I second that!
Ugggggggh I regret selling my Loomer now after seeing that haha.
It's so good to be back with a demo again, gang! And this one is a really good one. I freaking love the crushing reverberating tones of the Keeley Loomer, and I hope you do too. If you dig it, the as always, a like, comment or share would be so appreciated. Thank you for your constant positive support. Means the world
I've seen a dozen demos/reviews of Loomer, and SOMEHOW you ALWAYS seem to find something NEW or DIFFERENT or COOL... ALWAYS!!!
i'll stop shouting now. thanks for the music, the sounds, and the inspiration. Loomer is now a must have pedal.
Oh my! Thank you so much. I'm really glad to hear that my demo managed to add something new to it all. There's just so many cool sounds in that thing. Hope you get one soon 😊
Reverse reverb & the depth knob midway up = Shoegaze tones for life
Heck yeah 👌
Have had a Keeley Eccos for four months now. Love it. The Loomer just reminded me of back in the 70's I owned a Big Muff and an Electric Mistress, plus an analog dod delay. Ran into a vibrato and reverb equipped 200 watt solid state Peavey stack. It was glorious. We sure had patient neighbors. Thank you Stefan, the Loomer has my attention now.
it's a box full of magic. mine will either end up in my will for my family, or i'll be buried with it. i'll decide in around fifty years.
I bought this pedal a month or so ago and I've been struggling to get my head around it. I've mostly just been playing with it using reverse and scoop which has been lots of fun but I knew I could get a lot more out of it but it just wasn't clicking for me. Your vid has been a massive help . Thanks Stefan.
That makes me so happy to hear, man! Really cool that the demo opened up some new creative use cases for you. This pedal is deep. But I totally get why you get stuck on that iconic scooped fuzz and reverse reverb. It is indeed such a fun and massive sound ☺
We missed you 😉 it's good to see you back !
That synth part at the end OH.MY.GOD!!! Pure bliss
Thanks! It’s good to be back 😊 Happy you enjoyed the synth tone. One of my favorite sounds in the demo as well
Cool demo. And that synth lead, wow!!!
I picked up one of these a few months back, and it brings a smile to my face whenever I play it. That fuzz is the best I’ve come across, but the whole pedal is just quality. If I could only own one pedal, this would be it.
Thank you! So happy you liked the demo. Yeah, I was thrilled about that synth lead tone as well. So harmonically rich and interesting. I totally agree on the quality of the fuzz in this thing. It's just spectacular. Takes a lot for me to be impressed by a fuzz, but this one blew my mind 🙌 And that Focus Reverb is just divine.
Such a flexible pedal! Great fuzz tone, super versatile reverb, AND you can change the order with a switch. That is DOPE! Keeley really outdid themselves with this one. Never would have guessed that you'd be able to encapsulate an entire genre of tones in a single pedal. I may have to snag one, cuz my friend is big into shoegaze.
Yeah, man! This pedal is a total homerun. Keeley totally nailed the tones, and all in a compact pedal that's crazy easy to use. This box of shoegaze is pure win!
Another belter of a demo Stefan. What an amazing pedal too. The Focus reverb alone makes this a total dream machine, but that fuzz! In Full mode that has to be one of the best fuzz tones that I've ever heard. You sure made that thing sing buddy! ❤
Thank you very much, my friend! And I totally agree with your observations. Focus Reverb is to die for, and yes, that fuzz is one of the finest I've ever heard. It takes a lot for a fuzz to truly impress me, since gain and dirt isn't what I find the most interesting in the effects world, but this one blew my head clean off. It's so insanely good! I'm totally smitten with this pedal.
I never thought I would like the Synth part that much , such a cocteau Twins sound , even though cocteau Twins didn't use Synth for their unique screaming leads . I will use this on some songs
Yeah, that sound really took me by surprise as well. It was purely an experiment when I hooked it up to my synth. Chords quickly became muddy, but those single swelling lead lines sounded absolutely unreal.
Love the loomer! Keeley also makes just the reverb side of this pedal in a unit called the Realizer !
Does it do the pitch shift up in the reverse reverb setting?
Fantastic demo! I just got a Loomer (Lipstate artist series). Such a versatile pedal - does some much sonically. I bought it mainly for Realizer side of the pedal, but found for a little extra money that a Realizer, I could get the sweet fuzz of the Loomer. Best decision I've made in a long time. The reverbs are fantastic and full mode fuzz is such a wall of sound. Love pairing this with my Keeley Mesmer and Keeley Gold Star.
Okay, Stefan. I’ve been watching this 20x a day.
Just go ahead and say something that’ll push me over the edge to finally buy it. Seriously.
Buy it!
ThePedalZone I’m torn because I feel like Ill be cheating on my excess.
@@AD-ij2wj - They're honestly nothing alike. They sound completely different and seek to achieve different sonic goals. Rock both and be happy :)
Another outstanding pedal from Mr. Robert Keeley! I just got the Custom Shop Keeley Compressor Plus and based on this demo I'm now gonna have to own a Loomer one day as well.
i have kind of an unspoken rule with external effects- one per manufacturer. the idea is that there are far more super-creative, innovative and awe-inspiring companies producing these tools than i will ever possibly be able to support. Keeley is really making that a difficult rule to adhere to.
You can't go wrong with Keeley! Quality stuff all the way through.
Friggin' great job on this demo, man. This is leagues better than what most channels produce.
Awwww! Thank you SO MUCH!
A new pedal zone video day is always a good day! 👍🏻
Awwwwww! Thank you ❤
the highlight on the decay knob at 3:16 right as i was finished reading the blurb is one heck of a touch
Haha! Cheers! Happy you enjoy the small details. Makes all the time spent implementing them worth it 😊
100% the best demo of this pedal. Gah. So good.
Oh wow! That means so much to me. THANK YOU! ❤
This looks great..
I have a Muff, a Cirrus and a Reverberation Machine on my board already so I think I can do this already, but if starting over this would've been a quicker way to get there. Glad they put a routing order switch in there.
You will definitely get some cool tones with that rig! Might not be the same as the ones in Loomer, but they will definitely be unique and sound like you, and that's just as cool ❤👍
A synth that sounds like guitar!? Usually it’s the other way around but I enjoyed this bit a lot! Thanks for the demo, Stefan!
Thanks, man! Yeah, that is probably the best atmospheric textural lead tone I've encountered in a long time. I was really happy when I discovered that ☺
You seriously have the best pedal reviews
Thank you! Unbelievably kind of you!
Keeley is amazing!
Definitely!
00:47 I would say that it's Only Shallow ;)
What a beast, and demo ! The synth part got me, what a beautiful sound ! Amazing job Stefan ! :)
Thanks, buddy! Means a lot to me you enjoyed the demo so much. This pedal is indeed a beast 🙌
A Reddit bot told me there was an okay price on a used Loomer, but I don’t like the original visual aesthetic/design. Well, Loomer still on my mind, I saw some Instagram post(s) about the lovely Sarah Lipstate Artist Edition design being back in stock, only for the time being. This video is what finally convinced me that it was time for me to LOOM (and I never remember having loved the sound of the fuzz as much as I have from this and maybe one or two other demos).
I’ve been waiting for Meris to do their seemingly-annual B-Stock sale, so I could get an Enzo for its arpeggiator, ring mod, compressor, etc., yet this video shows me that Loomer can make a guitar have a more pleasantly (and edgy) synth sound than even Enzo may produce, to my ear-@6:15!!! Thank you! (I also got a CIOKS 7 today 🇩🇰 🖤)
Hauntingly beautiful ♡
Thank you so much 🙏
I really love the channel and the keeley loomer, especially the synth setting towards the end
Thank you! Really means a lot to me 🙏 and yeah, that sustaining lead synth tone really blew my mind when I discovered it. Happy you enjoyed it as well 😊
@@thepedalzone thank you, I'm just waiting to get the new akai midi keyboard 3 in January so I can start experimenting much more.
Ok I will buy one. Geez! I have been drooling over this pedal for awhile, now this great in depth review. Great job. Love the synth parts.
Definitely go for it! I’m so enamored with it. Seriously floored by how good it is. That fuzz is insane 😊 And I’m happy you enjoyed the synth part. I’m really happy with how that example turned out as well
@@thepedalzone I love verb into fuzz and this just packs it into one enclosure.
i am being hospitalized at ambient focus.. my only life goals is to buy that pedal from now on
Happy you enjoyed the tones. Definitely go for it. It's a killer pedal!
Thank You !!!
No no no... Thank YOU! ❤️🙏
Oh sweet! I have the Monterey and its one of my favorites. With this I could become Jimi Shields!
Jimi Shields would be the most powerful guitar hero on the planet. Please remember.... If you choose to venture down this path... With great sonic powers come great responsibility. Stay safe and rock out!
Kinda late reply, but Kevin Shields really does have a younger brother Jimi!! He played in a band called rollerskate skinny in the 90’s, sorta noise/pop/psych kinda thing. Cheers!
Beautiful pedal, beautiful playing ⭐️🌙
Thanks, man! Definitely is a stunning pedal
Were I in search of a good fuzz, I'd buy this baby in a heartbeat.
This is definitely one of the finest fuzz pedals I've had the pleasure of playing. Highly recommend it
Great demo Stefan. The sounds you're found are amazing. My only criticism of the pedal would be the lack of presets making it hard to use creatively live.
I couldn't wipe the smile off my face watching this. I've been watching your demos for a few years, but only recently getting into social media to leave comments etc, but you just keep getting better and better and better. This is utterly stunning representation of the capabilities of this pedal, so inspiringly musical and your addition of the synth aspect just takes it to another level. Many, many congratulations, all hail the King!!
Doug! My friend! Thank you so much. Your sweet, kind and motivating words always go straight to heart ❤
A great demo of a great pedal. Thanks for taking us through its possibilities Stefan. You very good man!
Thank you! Really happy you enjoyed the demo. Loomer is so cool! One of the best pedals Keeley has ever made.
Welcome back Stefan and great job on this demo!
Thank you so much! It's good to be back 😊
That thing sounds insane...great video mate!!
Thank you so much, my friend ❤ It's just a stellar pedal. Sounds epically huge every single time.
awesome! shoegaze swiss army knife!
Cheers 🙏 Indeed a versatile box of shoegaze sounds 👌
Your playing always inspires me to try new things on guitar. I just wanted to thank you for that
I'm deeply humbled to hear that! Thank you for your kindness ❤
Terrific sounds, terrific music, terrific shirt = THE BEST demo for this pedal I've seen, for sure. Thanks for the continued inspiration, I missed watching your videos! :)
Thank you so much, my friend! Very much appreciated 🙏
Perfect pedal for TB-303 and similar squelchboxes.. 😁
with the fuzz engaged, you've got the sound of one my favorite band, Bardo Pond.
Man! I used to listen to so much Bardo Pond back in the day. Need to revisit that wonderful band 😊
@@thepedalzone Such an awesome and underrated band !
you sir are a pedal wizard! i love how you always pull out such fresh amazing tones and sounds from whatever pedal you demo! keep up the good work, we need the inspiration!
That fuzz is crushing AF, my God.
Fantastic demo as always, Stefan :)
It’s so wild!! Seriously one of the best fuzz tones I’ve heard in my life. And thank you for the kind words. Really means a lot you enjoyed the demo 🙏❤️
Sick sounds!
Cheers! 😊🙏
Nicely done!
Thank you 🙏
this is crazy
It's a wild one!
Damn that’s heavy!
Haha! Cheers. That fuzz is amazing. Seriously one of the finest Big Muff-inspired fuzz’ I’ve ever played 🤘
I Just pulled the trigger on buying one
Awesome!! I’m sure you’re gonna love it. One of the finest combo pedals I’ve ever played. And the fuzz is absolutely legendary 👌
@@thepedalzone Groovy
10:40 That's funny, I was just thinking an hour before I got off of work what a reverb to fuzz would sound like . My first youtube video when I get home to unwind is this.
Hope you enjoy the video and that it helps you unwind 😊 Reverb into Fuzz = Wall of sound! It just nails those iconic saturated reverberating shoegaze tone
It's almost a pedalboard in a box! Great playing and demo as usual. I know this is a different format than past videos, but I do admit to missing you summing it all up and concluding at the end. You're just so good at it. But hey- love Pedal Zone: will take what I can get. ;)
Happy you dig the pedal and the demo. I'm honored to hear you miss my voice. I'm just trying to cut down on the time it takes to produce a demo these days, since time becomes very limited all of a sudden when you become a dad. I'm sure the classic TPZ demo format will return again at some point. But I'm really enjoying making these Less Talk More Tone demos right now.
@@thepedalzone you're a dad now? I somehow missed that. Stefan....congrats. that's awesome news!!!! 😮👍🧔🤘
Thanks! Yeah, my daughter was born back in late April. So it’s been a whirlwind, but it’s an amazing ride 😊
@@thepedalzone so happy for you, man. I hope you're getting some sleep. Congrats, His Dadness. Rock on...when you can...with our support.
Pedal sounds great but the showstopper here is the Tom Fuchs guitar...what a beauty
Yeah, TonFuchs make stellar instruments. Their Bulldog is one of the finest guitars I’ve ever played 👌
Man, I just got the CB Soft Focus reverb but I didn't know about this guy.
I enjoy your demos. Keep it up.
Thank you for the kind words about my demos. Yeah, Loomer is awesome. That CB Soft Focus seems to be great for that one specific sound though.
Great pedal and great demo. In a similar vein, I would love to hear you play around with the Collision Black Hole Symmetry 🙏
Thank you very much! A BHS demo will happen at some point. It's very different. Both a great pedals, but they seek to achieve different things.
i loved the reference at 0:47. Keeley just keeps hitting home runs. I'm beginning to believe that Mr. Keeley is from the future, and travels to the current timeline, bringing prototypes and specs to the manufacturing facility -and then returning to his own proper timeline. pretty sure. Either way, i extend thanks to both Stefan and Robert for their hard work.
Haha! Cheers. Happy you noticed that tiny reference 😊And yeah, you can't go wrong with Keeley. Really good stuff that always sports ingenious features and sound designs.
There so much mbv reference in that video - you would need to pay royalties to mr.Shields. 🤠
I think we all owe Mr.Shields big time, in some way or another 😊
Sounds nasty!
Perfect! 👌
This pedal sounds amazing! Have you considered demoing the Polarbear Effects Drowner?
Happy you enjoyed the sounds. Loomer is hella cool. Don't own a Drowner, but it definitely looks like a very cool pedal. I've enjoyed the demos I've seen of it
wow, this will definitely be the next addition to my pedalboard. nice demonstration, it sounds amazing! what is the small expression slider you were using?
What app are you using on your phone during the SYNTH section? Great video as always. Keep up the great work!
Prettiest pedal
Sure is a looker! 😊
Nice shirt!
Thank you
Who would thumbs this down?! Sham on you!
I’d love to hear what this can do on a bass.
Great demo
Is that a drum app at the end on the phone?
Thank you! No, that's a synth app called SoundPrism. I use it to play the pad chords you're hearing while I use the Yamaha VSS-30 for lead synth together with the Loomer.
Awesome as ever! What’s the phone app you’re using with the synth?
SoundPrism by Audanika - apps.apple.com/us/app/soundprism-pro/id425733007
Thanks, man! It’s called SoundPrism 👌
Its just a shame it costs so much the Collision Devices Black Hole Symmetry which is much in the same ballpark as this but has delay is about £30 cheaper
I have both, and they are honestly not in the same ballpark at all sonically. Both are great though 👍
My other comment was of course not meant to undermine your observation and opinion. Of course they occupy a similar arena since they both sport dirt and ambience in the same box, but they sound so vastly different and seek to achieve different sonic goals, in my opinion. So going for the BHS just because it’s a bit cheaper than Loomer would be the wrong reason to go about making that decision. It should be made on the background of the specific tones you’re after.
@@thepedalzone Oh no i didn't take your first comment like that at all, I understand what you are saying and after checking some more demo's of both they are quite different. Great demo as always :)
Far from shallow.👌
Been debating picking one up and this has pushed me closer to buying. Incredible playing too! My only question is, is this noisey when engaged but not playing? I have a Catalinbread Giygas that hisses if I’m not playing. Thanks!
Happy you enjoyed the demo. And yeah, sure, if you have the fuzz side activated and you're not playing then it will be noisy. That's kinda the nature of fuzz. It increases gain and hence increases the noise floor. It's normal and expected.
I had the Realizer (Loomer - Fuzz) and wasn't a big fan. I didn't like the lack of trails and that it couldn't do 100% wet.
I haven't tried the Realizer, so can't really give any insight there. But the reverbs in Loomer can all go 100% wet.

Get well soon 😊
Awesome. So the Depth knob is the whammy? Also, surprised to see a whammy bar less demo, but I think I know why - to let the pedal have the stage.
Yes, the Depth knob introduces envelope triggered pitch bends when using the Reverse Reverb mode. So it will indeed create the sound of a whammy bar. And yes, I totally wanted the pedal to show what it was capable of on its own. All of the other demos of it out there go crazy on the whammy bar, so I didn't really feel like that was needed. I just wanted the pedal to shine entirely on its own.
@@thepedalzone This pedal is hard to find in the US right now, btw.
Bummer
That riff sounds like Lollipop by Astrobrite
Okay. Never heard of them. Will check them out 😊
what app did you use in the synth demo? Excellent video!
It's called SoundPrism. Happy you enjoyed the demo 😊
Do they make this with only the reverb side?
Yes. It’s called the Realizer 👌
That’s great news!... bad news, the pedal is almost as expensive as the Loomer lol
Cool pedal but would it play nice with other pedals? Fuzz typically goes first in the chain and reverb last.
Plays more than well with others. It's always nice with pedals that challenge our static look at what a pedal chain should look like. If you haven't dabbled with early-chain-reverb before, then this one is killer for it. I have a video on the concept here on the channel :)
@@thepedalzone Thanks! I was planning to get one and probably put it after my dirt pedals to get more out of the reverbs. Some of the fuzzes I have, however ,sound bad when placed after other dirt pedals even when those pedals are bypassed.
Is this fuzz circuit the same as the Dark Side???
Dammit, Stefan.
I'm "sorry" 😊
Show me your pedalboard lol
Please?
I often show it on Instagram. So check my page out there 👍
Can i ask what your eq settings are on the deluxe reverb when using such heavy fuzz?
I’m not playing the Deluxe Reverb in this demo. I’m using my Revv D20. Honestly haven’t tried it through the Fender, it just sounded great through my D20, so I stuck with that. But I never change EQ on my amps to compensate for gain pedals. I find a core EQ setting that creates a nice clean foundational tone, and then I adjust my gain pedals to fit. My Fender amp is set to 5 on bass and 6 on Treble
Imagine using this with a violin or a cello..
I think that would sound killer!
@@thepedalzone Or maybe just the bow, sigur rós did this for years: ruclips.net/video/Alp2rzZiSVU/видео.html
Wheres that dark side demo though 👀
🤷♂️
In the intro is that distortion only the Keeley?
Yes. The only effects pedal used throughout this entire demo is the Keeley Loomer 😊
Well I just sbscribed. Might as well since I'm subscribed to That Pedal Show and JHS. And Steve. And whatever channel Andy's on now. And Ryan. And R.J. And Jay. And Henning. I'm asking myself why did it take so long to do this for your channel?!?

This pedal seems like it would be awesome, why does it sound like hot trash?
just Mono IN / Mono OUT... sigh
The grungy sludge and/or typically “ambient guitar” type noodling guitar playing in this video doesn’t even come close to capturing any real (nor classic) Shoegaze sound.
Just goes to prove that Shoegazing is more than just a bunch of typical presets in a box.
m j - I didn’t really try to go for or capture any specific style in this demo. Like all of my demos, this video simply shows how I would use a specific pedal. So this is how the Loomer sounds when it’s played by me. You can surely find demos out there of it that conjure way more convincing Shoegaze tones. Have a great day, man 👍😊
that fuzz sounds fucking horrible
To each their own 🤷♂️
I’d love to hear what this can do on a bass.
