Nine episodes of this show ran in the 9:30 timeslot following _Cheers_ in 1986, when nothing but nothing could stop the train that was Thursday Nights on NBC. It's cancellation made no sense at all, it's intelligent and witty inside look at the work and home life of a soap opera producer guaranteed to please any viewer who, for instance, liked _Tootsie_ . Hammocked between _Cheers_ and _Hill St. Blues_ at 10, it was a perfect fit. Brief run or not, it is fondly remembered and long overdue for sale on DVD.
This show was GENIUS! Brilliant cast, hilarious scripts, excellent premise. I rank it up there with "Mary Tyler Moore" and "30 Rock" for best TV Show about making a TV show... and maybe it's the best one of all! Why didn't it last?!
Dean Anderson You have a low bar for genius. It had a good cast and good producers, but it didn’t quite hang together. Cast was too big, and the premise was too narrow. Would you rather watch a show about making a soap opera, or a show about people hanging out in a bar?
I see why it didn't succeed. There isn't anything that really grabs you and sets it apart from similar comedies. Thank you for sharing. Edit: Okay the wedding scene was pretty good. 😄
This wedding scene is one of the greatest quick-change acts in any sitcom ever. One thing I can't forgive is NBC terminating a show that might have been at least a modest success.
I remember this show and loved it. Carol Kane was the driving force, so unfortunately when she wasn't on screen, the show bogged. An episode starring Gwen Verdon was especially dull.
Rest In Paradise Judith Marie-Bergan you will be missed gone but definitely not forgotten!!!

I know! It was so good!
It was cancelled to make room for The Tortelli's. Which was soon cancelled for being garbage.
Loved this show! I wish I could see all episodes!
Omg Carol Kane is too perfect on here.
Bess Armstrong is SO adorable!
Please upload more episodes if you have them!
THANKS!!!

I hope this will be released on DVD from either Visual Entertainment or CBS DVD through its MOD channel.
Loved this show!
"We disagreed about the content of the show. I thought it should have some."
Bess Armstrong is adorable in this. She was the next version of Mary Tyler Moore

Gosh I love Bess Armstrong!
I wonder if its used for 13 week theater
More episodes please!!
Shawnee Smith was on this show, I remember her from BECKER
Most short-lived sitcoms from the mid-eighties are awful, but this was a delightful surprise!
Is that Alan Kalter voicing the bumps?

Stereotypical characters, script like packing peanuts and typical Hollywierd lefty bent.
Funny thing--people with compassion and empathy are usually "lefty."
