      No. You can cancel your Studio One+ Hybrid subscription at anytime. You will receive a perpetual license to the version of Studio One Pro available at the end date of the subscription period for which you've already paid. You will also have complete access to Studio One Pro's core library of content-including Ampire, Analog Delay, Red Light Dist, and more. When your Studio One+ Hybrid plan ends, you will lose access to all Studio One+ exclusive tools, add-ons, and features that fall outside of a Studio One Pro perpetual license package.
      There is nothing further to pay, unless you choose to continue the subscription.

      Well, the good thing about both of those is - you do not need to use them if you don't want to. The Atmos features will only ever appear if you use the Surround Mix template. The Tunecore client will only run if you actually select it to. Otherwise it will not appear. If you don't want to mix in Atmos, then don't; if you don't want to use Tunecore, then use another service. These are just new options. Use them, or don't. The choice is yours.

    All these S1 channels keep saying you get a perpetual license at the end of Hybrid, but fail to mention that it's not a proper pertual license. You get a non-updating perpetual license, which means you're stuck with that version (and what ever bugs it might have come with). If you want an actual perpetual license you have to pay a "pro-to-pro" upgrade fee to be able to upgrade that non-updating perpetual license. Hybrid is a decent deal if you don't already own a perpetual Pro license, but if you're only goal is to own a proper perpetual license you're actually better off buying that straight up on one of the sales throughout the year.
    For those of us that have already paid for the full version this update is very lack luster imo, and I think people have a right to speak up in fear of what might come next. They also removed the option to buy any of the VST products that have been part of subscription (not just the new Synth). If I just want the Synth, I have to pay $180 to own it for just 1 year, and not only that, after one year I lose it unless I pay another $180. That's just not value at all. The amount of good stuff I could get for $180 right now is staggering compared imo.
    This is in my honest opinion a clear indication that Presonus wants to go down the subscription only route eventually - which is no surprise after the Fender acusition to be honest. I'll keep using my S1 6 Pro version, but I've already crossgraded to Cubase as well. For now I'll be using both (it's good to know more DAWs anyways imo), but if this is the route Presonus decides to take I'm out. I hope it's not.

    • @JonnyLipshamStudios
      @JonnyLipshamStudios  3 месяца назад

      Perpetual licenses are still available, as are upgrades in the same way you have always been able to get them. And, PreSonus having a subscription model is NOT new, and NOT because of Fender. PreSonus started the subscription model back in 2020, when v5 was released; and there have been MANY subscription only features added, naturally. That's how subscriptions work.
      shop.presonus.com is temporarily closed while they migrate to a new platform and integrate it directly into the main presonus.com site. In the meantime, PreSonus add-ons are, and will continue to be, available via 3rd party retailers.
      If you are not interested in the subscription, then you are not really affected. You can upgrade as usual, but you need to keep in mind that there will always be some subscription only features, just as there have been for the past 4 years.
      The addition of a perpetual license for Hybrid is in direct response to feature requests from subscription members who wanted a perpetual license at the end of their annual membership, since previously, when the membership comes to an end, you lost everything, including Studio One. This license will continue to receive maintenance updates to fix bugs in the version that the membership ended on; but it will not receive feature updates that add new features.
      The choice is yours what you want to do.

    • @thomasreehjelm8862
      @thomasreehjelm8862 3 месяца назад

      Never said you can't buy perpetual licenses any more. I said there's a difference between the one you buy for $400 (which has free .x upgrades), and the one you get from Hybrid+ (which doesn't). And that part clearly isn't well communicated (when looking at all the confusion on reddit, youtube, etc.). People keep calling them by the same name, "perpetual license", when they are 2 different kinds. Even on the Presonus youtube channel there's a comment from Presonus own account saying quote: "Studio One+ Hybrid includes a perpetual license at less than half the cost", without mentioning that you have to pay another $150 to upgrade if you want .x updates. That's obviously bound to cause confusion. Many people are going to belive they are getting the same license from Hybrid+ as they are by paying the $400 straight up, and they won't be happy in a year when they finally find out. I really feel like this part should be communicated a lot better.
      Never said subscription was new, or introduced with Fender either. I said this latest update (where a major selling point, the Architect, is subscriber only) feels a lot to me like the first step towards a subscription only model. And yea, if that happens, I'm definitely blaming Fender for going down that path. I really hope it doesn't happen (cause I do love Studio One), and you probably have a better idea about that direction than me (being in the company), but I'm just saying my feeling as a paying customer is that of uncertainty, and it looks like I'm far from alone.
      You're right about the choice being mine. As is the choice of being at least a little bit critical when a company I've supported with (for me) a ton of money seems to be going down a path I'm not comfortable with them taking. If you don't like that, you're obviously free to delete my comments as well.
      Would love some links to those 3rd party retailers selling Architect though. I can't find any.

    • @JonnyLipshamStudios
      @JonnyLipshamStudios  3 месяца назад

      @@thomasreehjelm8862 - I won't be deleting your comments at all. In my opinion, I am going to spend my money with PreSonus anyway. Does it really matter how and when they get it? Not really. There are benefits to subscription in that I get everything for Studio One for just $179 per year, and I get upped to the next major version without having to pay extra.
      OR I could just purchase an upgrade and still have to purchase extra add-ons. When I COULD have them all in the subscription.
      As for subscription exclusive things - in the four years of the subscription, there have been many, many things that have been exclusive. The last major update for all the instruments was Deep Flight One, which was exclusive to members a few years ago. I do not recall complaints about that. Maybe I am wrong, and I just did not see any. There are always going to be exclusive things for members. It's how memberships work for anything - like a Gym, a VIP club, National Geographic etc.
      In any case. You are entitled to your opinion. And, you have choice over how you get Studio One. You do you! I am totally happy with whatever choice you make.

    I love that Studio One is constantly updating and improving. But... why only Tunecore? No Distrokid? And... still no BPM mapping without relying on Melodyne. Mapping a free tempo is really a pain with Melodyne. Logic's BPM mapper is something to definitely copy down the line. As for the new instrument? I'm pretty underwhelmed by what I'm hearing so far.

      In order to have a Distrokid client,, you would also have to have a partnership with them, and an API. We do not have these, but we did team up with Tune Core. They have really now prices - $17 per year, and Studio One+ members can also get 50% off that.

All that has changed is that Studio One+ Annual is now called Hybrid, and at the end of the 12 months, you get a perpetual license. This was in reaponse to customer requests who did not like losing Studio One when their subscription ends. As for Lead Architect, this is certainly not the only time an instrument or soundset has been only for subscribers. Deep Flight One, and all the other monthly soundsets over the last 4 years have been exclusive to members of Studio One+. It used to be called PreSonus Sphere. PreSonus has been in the subscription game for 4 years.
