Adeste Fideles

The Latin lyrics of "Adeste Fideles" are traditionally attributed to John Francis Wade, an 18th-century English Catholic. Wade fled to France during the Jacobite uprising and earned his living copying and selling music. He included the hymn in his 1751 collection, Cantus Diversi, which featured sacred Latin songs.
The melody is often credited to Wade as well, but some scholars suggest it may have been influenced by other composers, such as John Reading, Thomas Arne, or even George Frideric Handel. Its exact origin remains uncertain.
