    To change the color: Brush settings > brush tip > brush mode > select lightness instead of color
    I would love to see one of these in the smudge engine for a wet brush. :)

    Thank you so much! I thought I'd never be able to afford a great art program, since I'm very poor. It took me two years to afford a very good art pad too! Krita is such a good program that when I finally make enough money I will definitely donate. I use a lot of the spray painting features and love being able to make my own brushes and presets. I also love being able to set a custom thumbnail for my brushes-- I use cat pictures. :)

    Is it likely that these two simple features will get implemented any time soon:
    1) shortcut keys for rotating the brush angle by a small increment (e.g. for rotating the nib in calligraphy),
    2) automatic decrease of opacity proportional to the length of all cumulative strokes painted (to simulate the need to reload the brush with ink or paint)?
    They have been requested for years now on various forums and always ignored, yet they don't seem too ambitious or impossible to implement.

    •  5 лет назад

      I think you have to use the pop up palette and add angle feature. You can use shift while sliding the value to get minor increments.
      About decreasing of color is not really used in regular brushes, but you can do controlling the color rate by time parameter or distance. Accumulative strokes ...hmm i think is not possible. Maybe a feature for the next fundraiser goal ;)

  • @FloTasser
    @FloTasser 5 лет назад +3

    That is a great idea! Would be awesome if we could sample the color information right from the canvas - that would make a true traditional painting approach possible. I imagine that to be really dynamic and refreshing. Digital is great but look at Craig Mullins, Jaime Jones and all those guys: digital painting with a more dynamic, (almost chaotic and natural) naturalistic look, inspired by traditional painting is beautiful and I personally favor this so much.

    As new to Krita I miss having a lot of cool brushes to play with. I know I can make them myself, but in my 10 years of experience...I'd prefer to just pick a ready pack and go with it. So keep up the good work. Also...where can I get the logo on your shirt...that will make a really cool modern icon for Krita on my desktop.

    •  5 лет назад +1

      @ Oh sorry,somehow youtube didn't alert me about your message. Thanks for the logo. Now to make it in to an icon.
      As for the video chat. I don't have a camera and mic for it.
      As for being a Krita lover. To be honest there are things I don't like in Krita. Some of them are due to me not knowing Krita that well(I started using it daily few months a go). Some of them are due to Krita being fairly new, compared to Photoshop. And need some love on essential tools.Like the text tool, that thing just keeps crashing Krita. So I have to do all the text stuff in Photoshop. Some are just overall design directions that I guess are too late to change now.
      That being said, I haven't opened Photoshop for drawing and work for months. I have Paintstorm studio and Clip Studio Paint. And I use them from time to time, but I use now mainly Krita. As a free and open source software it has everything I need.And it works like a charm in Linux, while Clip Studio does not have a Linux version. And Paintstrom ...I had a hard time getting it to run.

    Thank you so much Ramon. Great video with lots of possibilities! Being able to change colors with the palette or picking colors from the canvas would be amazing. One step at a time. Would it be possible for the brush to have properties like the blender_textured_soft brush? So that some paint is picked up and mixes like real oil paint. Forgive me any ignorance is there is already a way to do this. Again your work is so appreciated.

      The latest version of Krita (4.3 as of now) lets you do this. Go into the brush settings -> Brush Tip, and choose Lightness for the Brush Mode. You'll also need to adjust the Neutral Value to somewhere between 90 - 100 to get the best results with these specific brushes (otherwise they're too dark). Once you change that setting, you can get the same effect, but with whatever color you choose.

    KRITA is obviously very powerful software, but there is a paint effect in the "frais" that I cannot reproduce. Is there a brush that does this ? If I take ultramarine blue on my palette and then hang cadmium yellow with my brush and mix, I should see green appear. It is at the same time an effect of laying down the paint and of partial mixing along the path of the brush.

    • @KritaOrgPainting
      @KritaOrgPainting  4 года назад +2

      You are referring to traditional way of mixing colors. Digital is different and Krita uses right know a good way to get colos with color wheel and also swatches. I take note of that for the next meeting round table. //RM

      @@KritaOrgPainting Thank you. I understood well for the preparation of the colors with the color wheel in digital painting. But my question refers to the 3D blending effects when painting "wet on wet". It seems to me that the blender tools do 2D mixing only.

    Thank you A LOT again for your videos !
    You asked sometimes to suggestion and thank you a lot to give attention to all our messages !
    My suggestion would be to separate video by tuto on specific tools. It make it more esay to look at it if, for exemple, i have questions on "how adjust my filling tool" i would look at the video "Tool Fill".
    If i want to know how to use "multiply" i could find a video on it. Maybe the miniature could even have the button of the specific tool from krita in it. To be sure what we will find and learn. Sometimes some name of videos don't give enough specific information to really know what it will be about. For exemple the videos about sketch made me think it would be about "how to modified my traditional sketches on krita" but it was more about creat a sketchy look on my drawings on Krita.
    Thank you a lot for your attention and i'm really waiting for all your videos on Krita.
    My personnal difficulties are :
    -how to improve the performence of Krita (the lasts releases have a lot of lags) (the fill tool in particular)
    -the fill tool on free and round selections creates a "stairs" effect so i cant use it anymore on my illustrations and
    i don't manage to keek the smooth when i fill a part, like i managed to have on photoshop (i don't use it anymore but i'm nostalgic about this ^^' )
    -How to do PDF files from krita illustrations
    -Could you release a picture of a keyboard with all krita shortcuts (and shortcuts to ad) for mac and pc (the only one i can find are from mac, krita 2.9 and i'm french so my keyboard is azerty and no qwerty X'D )
