My family isn’t Italian (we’re mostly Scottish and English) but my grandma is just like yours. Sassy, blunt, and hilarious. And a damn good cook to boot.
My cousin is Stanley Tucci and his movie, Big Night, introduced our family recipe for Timpano. We have it every Christmas. Even though this version varies from our recipe, I have to give the video 5 stars. What a wonderful production! Bravo.
What is the difference between your family recipe, and how it's shown in this clip? I saw some recipes with a lot of additional ingredients, and I want to make this for our next family meal. It looks fabulous!
My grandmother was a wonderful cook, everything that she made was magical. The grandmother above cooks just like mine did. What I would give to taste her food again.
U can cook a little bite of the meatball mix .i used to make hundreds and was trained to cook a tiny bit of the meatball mix .your customers are not eating raw meat why would you taste it raw?
Great film. Watching them make the "Sunday Sauce" brings me back to my days at Lidias in Kansas City. I used to make that every Saturday so it was ready for Sunday.
Okay... I've made a version of this in a curved bowl with the whole surface ziti rather than dough. Next I'm going to do in a springform pan with turkey, stuffing, peas, broccoli, and then surface in sweet potatoes with cranberry sauce to finish. Will get it figured out if not perfected by Thanksgiving. Wish me luck!
I Love when Nonna says "Better than Del Posto, right?" and her grandson says, "I don't know about that Grandma?" and she's says "What?" in astonishment .. I AGREE with Grandma, I think hers is BETTER than Del Posto . Basta !
TOTALLY AWESOME! Now I'm not going to be able to eat for a week, because I know I won't be able to find anything this good where I reside. How may I get an invite to your next family dinner?!
There are a couple really wonderful recipes on YT and online. Also, just to really enjoy the culture and food, look for a clip from Big Nite and watch the Timpano episode.
funny my friends are going to your place this weekend for sal gambino's 60th bday, his wife vicky was telling me about your place and i have never found anyone who knows how to make timpano from big night here in new york, i cant wait to visit your place now
There's no "timpano" in Italy: "timpano" means eardrum in italian. The correct term is "timballo". There're a lot of words, related to italian food, uncorrectly translated into english.
The way this video is produced is so lovely

Such a nice homage to your grandmother, and your food culture. And the editing is so cleverly done. I'm hungry now.
This video makes me tear up, love the roots of cooking with grandma and showing where that lead you. Just beautiful!
Late to the party, but this brought a few tears to my eyes. Lovely tribute.

This video is a public service. (Now I'm hungry.)
Awesome. Finally learned why some say "gravy" and some say "sauce".. Gravy sayers didn't know any better.
you don't know what you are talking about and probably not Italian! Who needs you!!!!!
#amazing
Thanks for making a good Timpano video, most of the other video's with high view counts are garbage.
How many times a year would you make this? Any special days?

To think, this whole world was created, and ruined, by Mario Batali.
si chiama timballo non timpano.... il timpano si trova nell'orecchio... the big night got the name wrong....
Babish didn't cook his pasta 🤣
Please Timballo not Timpano.........i'm from abruzzo
+Rosario Papili abbi pazienza, c'e' la buona volonta' almeno.
si verimenti. io sono anche Abruzzie

- the older lady looks like deadmau5.
Kinda gross with the egg n all Sure it prolly taste great but it just doesn’t look appetizing. Just gimme some lasagna or some pasta n Alfredo sauce.
Why to use black and white footage? Food is color, flavor, faces, smiles, taste and you used black and white...really stupid.
Worst part of this video is Stacey Abrams in the beginning. What a disgraziado!
Delicious but grandpa is literally dying because of it
beautiful
