Its not about who sings or who acts , its about what people like . Back in the days people connected more to actors and singers more than the characters and the songs . Also people only liked them as they consistently delivered with their works . Once they did bad , people just abondoned them for others . Imagine how great the singers and Shah Rukh Khan (the actor you mentioned to see in so many things)are to continuously get work for more than 3 decades.
I agree
@iamjustinburke
I agree
Not really in Indian you literally have to give exams for everything to become something and pass the exam is high score to get approval specially back then and music have a different platform in India western countries doesn’t have songs in their movies where in India platform for music in India is Bollywood = songs it’s lot lot lot more to explain but what you said doesn’t matter who sings it is not correct it does matter you need to get approval or certificate in India to do literally everything not just some Random person can go sing and people would like it need to go through struggle if you look at back stories of all those singers how they become singer you will know how hard it it
@@iLoveAllah-forever Bro read the whole thing , I said what you are saying ( People only liked them as they consistently delivered with their work, once they were bad , they just flopped ).
However cringe u may feel i feel this was best era of bollywood songs have meaning melodies are unique emotions r diff ❤❤
I mean those dances are pretty cringe 😂 but I love the songs and the movies
Agree really brings back memories well that’s what music is for boosting memories if you don’t know what music does it boosts memory
@@zarasayeed1726nope I don’t think they are cringe I think it’s just different than other countries I would say unique although Bollywood does copies other movie industries but it’s our culture Hindi language we should show love I think
@@iLoveAllah-forever I'm not saying al the dances are bad I like some dances but I've have seen some "unique" dance that are kinda hilourious lol you can't disagree
@@zarasayeed1726 I agree with you some of them are very funny dance tbh all dance are funny to me lol
That Guy is The King Of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) one of the richest actor in the world… still dominating over 3 decads.. and his fan base are in all continents… also he is appeard in 30 most powerful peoples in the world…
Isko srk ka biography do koi 😂
What does that have to do with us?😅
There are reasons as to why there were so few singers back in the day. In India, film music dominates the music industry, which means that directors & producers end up selecting the singers. Its a top down approach. So once people know who are the singers who sell, it is VERY VERY difficult to convince producers (who are funding the projects and spending millions) to take a chance on a new voice. They want Lata Mangeshkar, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, etc... They want the singers who they KNOW will sell to be on their album because they want to make back their money. In fact, there are plenty of stories of newcomers who think they are getting a major break, only to find themselves being replaced by a major name when the song comes out.
The second reason though, is that the talent level required back in the day to be a playback singers was insanely high. You didn't just need a good voice, you had to practically be a musical genius. Remember, most of the recordings well into the 90s were still live, 1-take recordings with no auto-tune or pitch correction. AND, songs in bollywood are recorded VERY VERY fast. Singers usually end up recording 3-5+ songs in a single day. They don't rehearse or anything. They show up to the studio and have to learn the song right then and there, and within a few hours, give a flawless take with perfect pitch, emotions, & nuances. You just aren't going to find THAT level of talent anywhere, and once you do find it... Its show business, those people are not going to be replaced easily. They have the trust of the producers that they will sell albums.
Well explained
Kumar Sanu recorded 28 songs in a day.
Bcoz back in the day there were few singers who were considered as backup and they had their authority and they are legendary slowly and steadily the industry started to bloom and the new talent were flourished ...
You know that voice....that was the living legend Udit Narayan ❤
6:30 THAT VOICE IS UDIT NARAYAN 😻 one of the sweetest and amazing loving voice. Him, Kumar Sanu & Alka Yagnik they dominated whole 90s Era in Bollywood Music Industry. I think they have sang more than +1,000 songs for so many actors, actress. Their almost every songs is super hits, it’s countless.
It's YOUR facial expressions for me 🤣
90s songs traveling in the mountains its that feeling of these songs are next level ❤❤
That singer is voice of prince legend udit narayan
A lot of the evergreen voices you recognise are Lata Mangashkar, Alka Yagnik, Udit Naraynan, Sonu Nigam.
@Justin Burke: (This answers your question) If you think only 2-4 singers dominated, you r obviously misinformed. infact that era (mid 80s to 2000s) had far more variety than even today! so much that you'd be spoilt for choices!! Take a look below.
Popular Males:
1. for heavy base voice, apart from Kumar Sanu, there's also Vinod Rathod.
2. for smooth soft voice, apart from Udit Narayan, there's also Sonu Nigam.
3. powerful voice of Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
4. uniquely impactful voice of S P Balasubramaniam.
5. another unique tone and melody of Suresh Waadkar.
6. powerful folkore voices of Sukhwinder Singh, kailash Kher and KK (Krishnakumar Kunnath).
7. Gazal singers like Pankaj Udhaas, Jagjit Singh and Roop Kumar Rathod also have many bollywood hits.
8. soft low pitch voice of Hariharan.
9. Amit Kumar (who resembles his legendary father Kishore Kumar but has his own touch too)
10. Shankar Mahadevan and Shaan (started as pop artists)
Popular Females:
Apart from Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle and Alka Yagnik,
1. heavy base beautifully feminine voice of Kavita Krishnamurthy.
2. clear voice of Anuradha Paudwal.
3. Unique feminine tones of Sadhana Sargam and Chitra.
4. charming tone and melody of Alisha Chinoy (who also released individual pop albums)
5. powerful voice of Sunidhi Chauhan
6. powerful folkore voice of Ila Arun and Usha Uthup.
Popular Pop Artists:
(among males)Colonial Cousins, Baba Sehgal, Devang Patel, Daler Mehendi, Lucky Ali, Mohit Chauhan of Silk route fame and
(among females) Alisha Chinoy, Suneeta Rao, Raageshwari, Falguni Pathak, Ila Arun , Anamika and many more!
The likes of these pop artists cannot be found today!!
Apart from bollywood, there are excellent regional singers of the same era whose songs were and are still liked even beyond their regions!!
And Note that this is not an exhaustive list. I've only listed those popular singers whose songs were very popular then and even today. evergreen melodies! since I've grown up in those times :)
Kavita Krishnamurti did not have a heavy base female voice, she sang at a pitch higher than others
90s was Shah Rukh Khan's decade. Producers don't want to bet risky. So they choose known actors and singers. Even at a higher price. Over everything market is truth. Market is god. So you make 1 or 2 hits, you are a hit almost for the rest of your life.
3:50 he is the king of Bollywood
🤣🤣 ghanta nikal yaha se
its not that every movie has same singers.. its because so many movies releases every year consisting 5-10 songs (including duets) back in the day... every singer used to get plenty of songs.. thats why every big singer has 5-10000 songs in his name..
3:59 he's Shahrukh Khan, also known as the king of Bollywood, he's literally the most famous living celebrity on planet with a fan following of around 4 billion people and you don't even know him 😂😭

The guy you're seeing all the time is Shahrukh Khan. The biggest and most popular Bollywood actor. He ruled the 90's like no one else, so if you're viewing a lot of 90's India content he's going to dominate the content :)
Bro srk is my fav but we have to admit that salman khan ruled the 90s much more than srk did.
@@gamingshowdown6730 no he did not
Hii Justin. The person whom you are talking about is Shah Rukh Khan. The king of BOLLYWOOD. One of the biggest personalities of the world.
2.6 billion people know Tom Cruise but 3.3 billion people know Shah Rukh Khan.
He is ruling Bollywood for more than 30 years. Please react more of him. Love your reaction ❤
it is mainly about who people like and also in the 90's there were very few singers available who were popular and newer singers didn't get much of a chance so mainly those were the reasons.
Also for the actors Shah Rukh Khan was the king of 90's he was a very popular choice
I mean DON'T YOU KNOW SHAHRUKH KHAN he's one of the biggest super stars in the world he's known globally king khan.king of Bollywood and Yash he's still acting 💜💜
bcoz there is more politics in bollywood industry rathar than in political parties...also no one tries to take risks and give chance to new singers 🙂
The audience decides who they want to make into a star and the Indian audience in particular are extremely loyal to those guys. Once film and music producers know who the audience wants to see and hear, they simply go with that person rather than taking a gamble on someone who they don't know if they audience will like them.
Best of all time really I felt that ❤
These handful of singers created the golden Era of music. Now they are not active since last 15 years so you don't see good songs since their retirement. The songs they sang are seen and listened most on youtube.
The main couple of singers that you hear had the versatility of tones to give off different vibes of the songs in those movies and they were just wonderful to listen to, even today.
Dear Justin,
The way indian movie culture has been is that the songs have been an integral part of the Indian film industry. The songs are needed and are being added in the movies on certain emotional moments and situations.
The reason you will find the only selected number of singers singing the songs is because producers are all up for money with minimum risk to the business. That's why the only best singers will sing in the movie. The other reason you will find the same singer for the same movie actor is because only certain background singers can match the actor's voice to give a real feel.
Make a vedio on song - Main koi Aesa Geet gaou.
As a straight man, you sir are majestic 😊
😂😂
Stop with this bs. You ain't straight 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂 your smile is cute when the dance scenes began you smile
Basically at that time, also before 2015 and also a little bit now, most of the songs come from Indian movies, so the music companies basically made a pool of few singers and had contracts to sing for them and smal singers didn't get much chance and a proper platform to popularise their voice pan India unlike foreign where several platforms and opportunities are there because of several factors one of them being mass media outreach and internet. But after RUclips and other platforms became more popular, these small singers got opportunity as well as platform to showcase their talent that reach out to millions, solo or group or under any company/banner. This what i feel. This is my personal opinion.
Актер, которого Вы заметили, это Shah Rukh Khan - признанный король Bollywood
Голос, который как Вы сказали "уже слышал" это Udit Narayan
❤Legendary Singers:
Kishore Kumar
Lata Mangeshkar

That’s SHAH RUKH KHAN ❤ king of Bollywood. Face of Indian cinema.
LMAO @ the chest pump... Justin 🤣🤣🤣
As soon as the beat starts I start singing XD
90s were such a golden period when it came to romantic songs in Bollywood
Music Directors and Producers want to encash the popularity of the singers for their movies to attract more audience for more business. And also they get more work on the basis of relationship building. Earlier there were limited options because of no social media and talent hunt programs on TV but now the scenario has changed. More exposure giving more opportunities plus talented people are no more dependent on the film industry. There is OTT, RUclips, SOCIAL MEDIA and many other platforms. So yes the scenario has actually changed.
Please make a seperate video on sharukh khan songs ❤
In India there are many film industry based on language like Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujarati etc. Among them, in 90's, arguably the most popular one was hindi film industry or what you western called Bollywood. Because the major population of India speaks or understand hindi. Here the viewers used to like specific actors or listened to specific singers. Those actors or the singers brought business to the producers and which helps them to make more movies and which run the industry. It was a common phenomenon not just in hindi industry but in every industry. Now thanks to the Ott and various music streaming platform and internet availability viewers are appreciating the works of other artists also.

Bcz in yours western culture kissing scenes are normalized and in india it has not been normalized yet so, they give more importance to facial expressions in songs instead of only kissing but even when i saw a singing video of American pop singers most of them felt like is he or she singer? Or just have used auto tunes may be bcz i have been raised in different culture.
❤❤ all my fvrt
the last voice was UDIT NARAYAN
He's king khan. Richest actor in the world. He's been part of Forbes top 50 most powerful person and loved by many in the world, not just India.
During earlier times, audience did not know about background artists and singers...they used to relate their voice with the actors...so the movie makers started alloting a particular singer to each actor...so whenever people listen to that voice, they would instantly be reminded of the actor and thereby their movie...this has changed though now in the last two decades...so to answer your question...singers were repeated for the actors they were assigned to

Amazing that you haven't seen any of the rare but brilliant music yet!!, eg:
1) 'Dhadke Jiya' from Xulfi (from an older, sweet, romcom with Aamna/ Aftab),
2) Xulfi / The Call (his band) performing Live - Dhadke Jiya'..
3) Mustafa Zahid / Roxen the band - 'Toh Phir Aao' (Levis Live, Pak) - they did the ending song in Aashiqui 2 too,
4) 'Jee Le Zara' - Vishal Dadlani (Aamir Khan film),
5) The Call - 'Jilawatan' (pepsi battle of the bands, Pak) - spellbinding!!,
6) EP/ Fawad Khan - 'Hamesha' (live at Pepsi battle of the bands),
7) 'Toh Phir Aao' (Jal the Band, live at Pepsi Pak) - epic!
Singers get more opportunities depending on their Unique selling voice, singing and public’s choice. If the song is a super hit then that singer gets more recognition and opportunities

THE MOST RICHEST ACTOR IN BOLLYWOOD AND 4TH RICHEST ACTOR IN THE WORLD!!
Singers are first and foremost picked for their talent and suitability of voice for the actors they are doing playback singing for. They are essentially “playback singers”. Their voice must suit the male or female actors, otherwise it doesn’t convince the very critical Indian listeners and viewers. Music and Cricket are a lifeline for Indians. Sorry, sounds weird to a non-native speaker. I really appreciate your reaction videos and binge-watching them.

4:04 srk he is the king of bollywood
To answer your wuestion - Singers are chosen for bollywood songs based on on which actor they will be filmed on, because they have to match the voice of actors to singers so that it looks more realistic to audience that the actor is himself singing this.

2:36 they were basically the top singers back then so whichever they sing used to get hit. Beside Bollywood Indian music has a wide range obviously, not every Indian sings sang in Bollywood movies only , there are different genres which had nothing to do with bollywood
