    So glad I'm finally finding these videos. Please keep it up! Golarion is such a fascinating place with such extensive lore that's so hard to compile in one place, and even though I'm fairly familiar with it, your videos are a fantastic resource for me! Keep up the great work!

    From a writing perspective, I think it's super cool that Thassalon's seven virtues are based on the seven deadly sins in moderation, rather than christianity's opposite or unconnected seven virtue sets.
    Also wow. The runelords were evil. I've only heard of them listening to an actual play podcast of Gaintslayers, and they sounded like ancient mythical heroes to me, like Zelda's sages

      thank you, we don't have a strict time table for these videos since the time it takes to make an episode can vary a lot, we aim to get one out roughly once every 2 weeks.

    Great videos. I have read many of the books and I've been hoping someone would start a video series making the material a little more accessible. I look forward to your future stuff.

    As I recall, one of the reasons Divination magic was not used was it was seen as useless and unpredictable. No matter how good one got at it, it was still cosmic guessing.

    Thassilon was a human-only nation or there were halflings, dwarves, elves etc... there too? I mean, Xin believed that they could learn something with other races but it was more like “hey, you taught us how to use your kind of magic now GO AWAY” or it was more like “Hey, you guys can live here if you want”?

    • @VentureCaptains
      @VentureCaptains  4 года назад +1

      Good question! We know for a fact there were elven civilizations in Thassilon, specifically the elves of the Mierani forest. Elves tend to be insular but we knew for a fact they traded secrets and knolowedge with the Thassilonians because of some of the events of the Second Darkness campaign.
      They also clearly had contact with (and dominated) the giants of varisia, and they had a mutually beneficial relationship with the Caulborn that inhabited underneath Kaer Maga and fed on the prisoners.
      Other races are harder to place. Orcs and Dwarves did not live in the surface at the time, goblins and other monster races would be seen as pests and I'm not sure when Gnomes enter the picture. As for halflings, I can't really recall instances of halfling slavery in my reading but they would definitely be around and likely would not be treated in equal footing as humans and elves.

    Hey, just a note in case you weren't aware: "gypsy" is a racial slur. The correct term is Roma or Romani.

    • @VentureCaptains
      @VentureCaptains  6 лет назад +12

      Thank you for bringing that to my attention. After looking into it just to be sure, it's a bit more complicated than that. Especially here in the UK where it's used colloquially as a catch all term for those who build non-permanent settlements, including unrelated groups like Irish travellers but your point is still valid, plenty of people would take that as a slur so we're better off not using it.

      This is a late reply, but as a UK dweller too, I can weigh in here
      While the Romani are a people who don't fall under the 'Gypsi' term, there are Irish Traveller groups who call and consider themselves 'Gypsies'
      Again, it's a cultural thing, depending on the travelling community

      @@XXassasinzX i was gonna say if you hadnt already. its more about a nomadic culture than a particular race and some willingly identify as such.
