    And that’s why every DM must kill the wizards before level 20 when they become immortal wizard kings and create their own magocratic kingdoms and wage war against the other wizard.

      We ignored the warning signs when they started answering every question with a fireball. It's our own fault really.

    As the saying goes " Who needs guns, when I've got a wand of fireballs".That's why a magic dead country is the perfect firearms setting.

      Because you can learn how to use a gun in an afternoon, while you need years of specialized training to even use a level 1 wand of scorching ray (and even then you have a massive failure chance unless you also have the additional years of training and luck to be a wizard), let alone one of fireball

      @@LucaUmbriel Casting level 1 spells only requires 12 intelligence. That's just a slightly above average person.

      @@justnick7691 Well, not anymore. Now the spell has to be part of your tradition, or you have some other feat to ignore that. So it's be a spell caster or be someone with a rare skill to bypass such restrictions.
      That said, just as you can't make someone into a wizard with an afternoon of study a proper Gunslinger has more training than a few hours of teaching someone how to point, shoot and clean a gun too.

    How have i never heard of this part of Golarion? This sounds awesome. Its like a miniature dark sun WITH GUNS! Also whenever someone says they don't allow guns in a fantasy campaign, because its unrealist for them to be there, my imidate question is do they outlaw rapiers as well since they were invented around the same time if not slightly later.

    • @VentureCaptains
      @VentureCaptains  5 лет назад +3

      Correct! however, due to the nature of the guns in numeria (they were found, not created, and the level of technology is far superior to anything avaliable to engineers in golarion) and the fundamental differences in location and circumstances between Alkenstar and Numeria, we decided that it might be better to cover the numerian gunslingers whenever we cover Numeria. Spoilers, it won't be long, Its one of our favourite chunks of the setting.

    IMO, Pathfinder has the best world and setting. It pretty much has any senerio you want, which I guess was the point. But, one could take any country and build a world around it if you wanted to. Though, I do think PF was a little bit rule heavy, and I've seen systems that have quicker and more "realilist" combat and character building. As far as D&D goes, it's well on it's way to being a dumpster fire, let's be honest, it's been burning for quite awhile now. Is it me, or does it seem to be dumbed down with each new edition? At this rate, like WH40k, it will not be much more then a board game soon, although one you can now play on the 'puter.

    Personally, I find the notion of "Why use technology when you're got magic?" Pretty stupid. In order to cast fireball, you must be a wizard, you can't cast fireball without being a wizard or aquiring a magic item and having use magic device, in the west, most people have Internet Access, but few people are computer programers, as a ruler it would make much more sense to develop a sewage system than the mass public could use and only have a fraction of people actually responsible for maintaining it than to hire a wizard to gate the sewage of the the Astral plane, as unless you're country can expect to have regularly access to wizards that are powerful enough to do this, you'll only be able to maintain this accommodation for the aristocracy which even if you're a tyrant and care nothing of the welfare of the poor, you still have to compete with other countries and you will be at a disadvantage if they have sewers and you don't.

    Did you just say firearms have a shorter range than bows in this game? What?

    • @VentureCaptains
      @VentureCaptains  4 года назад +6

      Indeed! Keep in mind we are talking about early flintlock weapons, which were notoriously innacurate at long range and didn't do much damage even if they hit at those ranges.
      Bows on the other hand could reach really far when fired upwards in an arc, and the gravity from the fall would actually improve their odds of piercing armour.
      The main reason the firearm replaced the bow back then wasn't because it was better but because it was incredibly easier to use. Training an archer takes years and the weapons need an incredible amount of strength to draw which not every peasant who ate meat 2-3 times a year had. A gun on the other hand could be fired by a peasant with a few weeks of training as accurately as anyone could fire early firearms, and they were incredibly good at piercing armour at low-mid range. Not to mention they scared the daylights out of horses who were not properly trained.
