This was awesome. Salem has been on my list for since I was a kid. I’ve been nearby twice, but it didn’t work out. I really enjoyed this in-depth tour!
Hey buddy nick, it's so interesting you have the best vlogs. So nice to see you have your mom with you I can tell you are a awesome son ..happy and safe travels to you buddy. Me and Arnold are watching this right now.
Good to see you had a great time. Popular places to eat you gotta get there early. You're right about the witch museum. However too bad you missed a whole lot still. About 3-6 days is what I recommend to get the most out of your visit. Reds, gulu gulu, and ugly mug are some of the best breakfast spots. My suggestion if you get another chance to visit look online reviews and take the trolley. The ferry to Boston and Uber are the best ways to get around besides walking. There's so much history, pubs and places for a good time. Hope you get to visit again.
I am so glad that the man that you were filming this with your wife, so meeting my husband will take me in October with my son I’ve been wanting to go to see all of my been in Massachusetts, but not see how long it in 1 inch to go there all my life
Haha yup! We live in Texas but have gone up there the last 3 years in a row (not including 2020 due to covid). It's hard to miss out on New England during the fall. Thanks for watching!
Excellent overview and sample of Salem's attractions and highlights... including neighboring locals. *I hope that people planning to visit Salem catch your videos, Nick. super job 🍁🧛♀️🧟♂️🍂 Why am I suddenly so hungry?🤔 👏👏😉
I drove my “class A” RV across the country so I made reservations and stayed on the Island. It was amazing! My daughter and grandson flew to Boston, rented a car and drove to Salem and picked my up at the RV. They stayed at the Hawthorn Hotel. My daughter swears the Hawthorn Hotel is haunted and it does give one strange feelings. One bit of advice-- when you are driving a 43 foot long RV-DO NOT GET OFF THE FREEWAYS IN DOWNTOWN BOSTON! It will scare you to death! I hate detours.
I will always regret not hopping on the T and visiting Salem. I was in a production of The Crucible and would have loved to see the town where it happened when I lived in the state.
3:46 -ish: This was the person I played: Judge Hathorne. Little was known about him other than he was more prosecutor than judge and was wildly ambitious. While Judge Danforth recognized his wrong-doing, Hathorne never did.
Wow you have a cool story thanks for sharing that with us! I do find it interesting that Hathorne took it to the grave with his beliefs. Thx for watching!!
I've lived 10 min from Salem most of my life and have never been in Salem mall. 😂maybe I'll go in there this Sunday. Look for Deadpool with a unicorn backpack
Better off going in the “off season.” Still can do almost all of the same things but it’s cheaper and with fewer people. I live here so I do everything I can to be anywhere other than Salem in October 😂 Also, the Witch Museum has needed some updating since I was a kid. In the last year or so the city has finally started talking about putting some money towards it.
@ The crowds seem to keep getting bigger every October so people love it. ‘25 and ‘26 Halloween is going to be on Friday and then Saturday and they’re already talking about smashing crowd records, especially if the weather is nice. Personally I don’t get all the hype but I live here so that’s biased lol. Probably just better off coming any time other than late September - early November.
9:30 I would not recommend Norman Street to visitors if you only have 2 days in Salem. The only thing worth visiting there is Georgia's Pizza, which some people call a "hidden gem."
a dna test shows that my ancestors were in salem in the 17th century at the same time as this terrible thing happened, may they rest in peace in heaven
John Proctor and Elizabeth Bassett Proctor were my 8th Great Grandparents. 13:39 That is likely his Son Thorndike’s house. The inside wood was tested and it was likely built in the 1700s. Thorndike also purchased the land the executions were held at, that’s why it’s called Proctor’s ledge.
Hi! i was wondering if you thought saturday v tuesday would be better for the full salem experience. Would tuesday still be the same and everything be open as saturday? or are the weekends more full in atmosphere. Assume saturdays have more people. Im here in 5 days!
Weekends are way more crazy and full of people + hard to find parking but everything’s open and you’ll get the full experience. Tuesday less people and less stands open but easier to get around. Both are good
That’s awesome! There’s a bunch of cool spots to check out right near the hotel. I have a full Salem playlist that has info on a lot of different sites to see. Hope you have a great time 😎✌️🎃
It depends on what time of year you’re going. If you’re going end of September or any week in October it’s going to be difficult to park. You may have to walk a bit to find parking, but it is doable.
Few years ago we stayed 30mins away and we would park just outside of Salem about a 5min drive, then Uber the last 5mins in for a couple dollars. That was easy
@@TravelswithNick yes I’m planning first weekend in October and I’m staying about 45 minutes out i don’t mind walking just don’t want to get stuck finding no parking lots
