I picked up the first BB54 from my local AD and I instantly fell in love. I think that its dimensions and details make it the perfect “do anything, go anywhere” watch. The slight sunray dial and no hashmarks gives it an additional refinement and the slim case gives it the versatility to dress up or down.
@@nikouai I respect your preference and you’re certainly not alone! I will say on the BB54, the combination of the matte aluminum bezel with just a slight reflection is a great combination that adds a nice dimension to the watch. I don’t think it would work as well with a ceramic bezel. Also the effect is very subtle and muted only barely catching the light. It is not like a true sunburst like a datejust or skydweller that has a very strong radial reflection. It’s hard to describe, but in the steel I think it’s very well executed.
I had that OG BB burgundy and foolishly sold it. I managed to rebuy it before it started popping up in price and I have never been tempted to sell it again. It’s the original and the most charming if you have the wrist to pull it off. Cheers.
Perfect review - concise and laid out well. Really like the BB54 in terms of sizing and updates to the aesthetics. I think this is now the top Tudor my radar. Definitely think it has bumped the BB36 from my top spot. As always, appreciate the great content!
A great review Britt. You are looking good. Happy you are getting back in the groove. I love the look of the 54 but I have 7 1/2 inch wrist. I am more of a 39mm and up . Who knows maybe one day I will change it up. I love the Tudor line keep it coming. Thanks again Britt
Brilliant Video - review, thank you Britt. I have had countless diver and other watches since 1965, including Brietling, Eterna, Citizen, Seiko, Omega, Rolex.... Last September I bought the BB58, blue. Love it but..... last Thursday I tried on the new BB54. My BB58 is now for sale ;-). P S I have a six and a half inch wrist.
Just went to the store for the BB54, but then tried both the 54 and the 58 and decided immediately for the fifty-eight. Both are great but you can only decide having had both on your wrist.
Great video,, I love both of them. I have one concern about the hue of the steel on both watches, is it exactly the same?? (In the video the BB54 looks a bit darker, but maybe just because of the black dial). As I’m considering buying the BB54 clasp and install it on the BB58 blue
Great comparison and happy you tested the bracelet swap. This means the 54-rubber strap will fit the BB58, maybe the thinner end link will look better than the original for the bb58. Time will tell
People keeps praising how good it is to wear in this new size but from an owner of Black Bay 36 point of view I’m very curious on the difference of dimension compare to bb54, I suspect that the thickness, width etc are super close to each other. Sadly I don’t find any comparison on RUclips yet.. I do think that the new adjustable clasp is a big plus on the new bb54
Yay! Terrific review! Went to my AD today and sales rep told me one BB54 came in and flew out. When queried whether he’d honestly prefer a Rolex no-date Sub or the Tudor BB54, he said the Tudor. Know what? I believe him. At half the cost too!
Great review, thank you! Especially the bracelet comparison was really useful! Would you please focus a bit on the dial? What does the sunburst look like?
Our Britt is back and better than ever..... Great review Gringa as you always provide... Makes all of your fans smile to see a new video and you making a speedy recovery! Yeah, the 54 definitely isn’t for the large wrist crew! What do you have your eye on next?! 😱 anything you were particularly excited by at watches and wonders?!
Thanks for the great content, Tudor fan here as well :D Apologies I didn't scroll through the 360+ comments, would you be able to share the weight of both watches please ? I started my channel last year and just hit 800 subs today. You’re an inspiration, love your personality, style of video and your content! I am a Tudor fan also and just reviewed the pelagos 39. The bb54 is now on my radar thanks to you! 🙏👍

I don’t know if you have access to one, but would be AMAZING to see a new Black Bay 41mm red bezel (metas) compared to the BB58. I love the look of the new 41mm red bezel one, especially love the T-fit clasp, but am afraid of the rather chunky thickness and long lug to lug. Thanks, love you and your channel.
Thank you for doing this comparison! I am actually considering both of these watches myself. I have a 7.3” wrist, so I am leaning towards the BB58 Blue, but think I’ll wait to see if it gets the T-Fit clasp before I make a purchase. Your video was very helpful!
Hi Britt. Are the colors of the bracelet the same? I heard elsewhere that the hue of the 54 is more yellowish due to Tudor using more nickel. In this case swapping the bracelet to the 58 may not make sense if they are different colors
Definitely digging the Tudor content. I'm very happy for you that you were able to get the BB54. It looks perfect on you. Thanks for another great video.
Can’t wait to see that vid, Britt. The one thing I really love is the counterbalance on the seconds hand - it would look weird on the diamond/snowflake seconds hand but it was always the one thing I liked about the Submariner handset.
Britt, the BB54 looks fabulous on your lovely wrist! And looks like that’s it’s purpose, to grace ladies and gentlemen with slender wrists. However I’ll keep my BB58 for my 7.5 inch wrist where it looks just perfect.
I really ( I mean **really**) love my BB58. It lives in the same tray as watches costing 5x the MSRP, and yet still gets the most wrist itme of them all. Mrs C loves it, but it's too big for her IBWC compliant wrist :D Problem is, we can't buy one. Tudor has been infected with Rolex AD habits - I'm not going to make an appointment with a brand ambassador, and wait for a £3000 watch. Just silly. That said, it is *lovely*. Also, it's brilliant that you are able to make great content like this, despite the state of your jaw - you're a trooper - thanks WG.
I wonder if it’s possible to just buy the clasp from the 54 and put it on my 58. I am intrigued by the 54, but, as you said, they are so similar, and I like big chunky watches, too. Also, I’d miss the red triangle, the hash marks, and especially the big crown. Some of us can’t afford 2 BB’s. Although, If I sold a few other pieces, I certainly could, if it were important enough, to me.
Excellent review. Thanks. In a world where Tudor makes it easy to lurch after every new release, I found this helpful. Love the T-fit bracelet, but with a 7.5” wrist, I’m not tempted by a smaller watch.
Never be sorry! As someone that has a small 6.25” wrist I always look for reviewers that have a similar wrist size to mine to see how the watches look and that BB54 looks a dream girl! Still saving to buy that thing
Love the vintage vibes of the 54. You wear the 58 well. Women in particular look cool rockin a clunky diver imho. Hell, I rock a Dweller and LHD on a 6.8 and get compliments...wear what u like😊
Hey, great video. Could you shed any light on the dial colour/texture? Not many reviewers are remarking on whether this has a matte, gloss, sunburst dial etc. Hard to spot from the videos. Cheers!
I have a 7-7.25 inch wrist and i wear the BB54. Its perfect size. Dont fall for these traps that any particular watches are too small. I also wear the medium santos regularly and it’s great. Open your mind.
Would love to see that blue bezel with the black dial. And maybe a black bezel with the blue dial as well. Also, would love to see them do a limited run of rough textured dials.
So happy to see you getting better! You are a rock star Brit glad those crappy painful days are in your rear view. Love the Tudor content, keep it coming.
Ahhh bless you! I am honestly a little better every single day! 💕 althoufh I might have overdone it with the talking yesterday 🙈 my jaw is not having it today!
Thank you for comparing the two! I still like the BB58. My wrist is just about 6" to 6.2" depending on the day. My BB58 has that big wrist presence that I want in a dive watch. I also own a 41.5mm dive watch that looks even more sexy and chonkin
❤I’ll be keeping my BB58❤ You missed the differences in the bezel and bezel insert. The BB54 is missing the markers between 0 and 10 and the bezel grip area is much more corse
Although I haven't seen the 54 in person the Black Dial 58 still does it for me. I love the added worth from the rose gold numbers and red triangle at 12 on the bezel.
Ahhh YES! I wish I liked the black and gilt BB58! Too much gold for me ^_^ I think the gold on the bezel is just too much for me! But we all like different things!
Darn you Britt! Now I have to go source the BB54 rubber strap with T Fit clasp for my BB58!!!!!!! I knew it would fit! My AD thanks you for the business.
Went to a couple of AD’s today on the off chance they had one in and no luck. They are hoping to to have one or two in by the end of this month so just waiting for that phone call to go take a look. Not really tried one on before but the GMT fit fine on my wrist, albeit a little tall, so this slimmed down Burgundy 41 should be fantastic. My BB58 Blue needs a new best friend, honest!
Hey Britt, thanks for the comparison. What about the shade of steel if you tried swapping the 54 T-Fit bracelet with a Blue 58? I have both the OG black and blue 58s and I'm sure the blue version is slightly brighter (although very hard to tell)? Not that I plan to do so as the 54 is a tad too small for my taste and too similar overall.
First - so great to see you making videos Britt! Best of luck on your continued recovery. Given the bracelet, flatter case, and a roughtly 46mm lug width - it doesn't look like it would be dainty, at all, on a 6' guy with a 6.8" wrist. Do you agree? The measurements remind me more of a Doxa than anything else - and that's a watch routinely worn by people with larger wrists, despite the small dial.
I can’t believe how much 2mm can affect the overall shape and design presence of the Oyster Case design language… it makes the overall footprint more tonneau in shape vs. donut… definitely on the “buy” list now 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great video as always ❤ Forgot to mention the bezel grip has changed (less coin edged) and no minute markers on the bezel between 12 and 3. Love your content.
@@BrittPearceWatches It’s subtle but if you’re not a big fan of coin edge bezels, it’s one notch closer to a tooth edged bezel. Minor details only we notice 😂
The 54 feels and looks too small for me when I went to try it in person. The 37mm may be a good idea on paper, but for a diver, the presence of the bezel shrinks the dial to a degree. I also think it is a bit too thin for a tool watch. Or maybe this is just me trying to hold on to my 58. 😅
Having both the BB54 with a BB58 blue is the perfect combo tbh. I want both! I wonder if we’ll see more black BB58 on the used market. Also, your jaw seems to be healing quickly! Happy for you. Have a great day all
I’ve tried on both on my 6.7 inch wrist. The 54 is such looker and the clasp is superior. Eventually I’ve decided for the 58 in blue because the 54 - as gorgeous as it is - looked like a children watch on my wrist. (I am 6’2“ - I guess this plays a role, too) I can’t understand whole debate about the thickness - it felt more or less identically proportioned. If you are completely primed towards buying the 54 I can only urge you to wait and think about it - I did not regret it 😬
Yeah, you have good points. I have the BB58 blue as well, and I tried on the 54 and The only thing I really noticed was that its a bit thinner and a little lighter. But, the lug to lug really seemed to wear about the same as the 58 for some reason.
You should try the gmt too, idk what's my wrist size, but I'm 6ft 175lbs and I own the tudor gmt root beer version and it looks amazing. You dont notice the thickness after a few weeks
Oh no! I so wanted to spot the difference in the ‘grippier bezel’ everyone keeps mentioning 😂 ah well. maybe next time 😛 great to see you back in flying form Britt
Damn you Brit! Just when I thought I was out.. you brought me back in again! I was content with my watch collection but after seeing your last video I went down to the watch store and they had one that was sold but they let me take a look at it. Wow-perfect watch for my 6.5 inch wrist. It looked like a compact jewel-now I have to hunt one down. Thanks..thanks a lot! 😂
The MT5400 is actually a slightly enlarged version of the MT5402. They basically increased the diameter a little bit to make it look better through the sapphire case backs of the silver and gold versions of the bb58. They will probably use the MT5400 in all new versions of the black bay 58/54. Not much reason to make both versions.
I’m 6ft tall 190lbs and have a 7inch wrist. I picked my BB54 up from my AD a few hours ago and am obsessed with the size. Compared it to the 58 and preferred the 54
Excellent stuff Gringa! But are we living in a world where the BB58 counts as a beefy dive watch? 😆 Jokes aside, I'm on team BB58, which is still my grail watch. I actually prefer it's crown and the snowflake second hand. But this isn't to say the BB54 isn't a gorgeous watch as well! Of course it looks better on smaller wrists and to be honest, to me the difference in size doesn't look all that huge.
Let’s compare the BB54 vs Glycine Combat Sub 39 guild there is also a 36. Almost same dimensions as BB54 except diameter. Both have 46 lug to lug with 11.5 thickness 20mm lug with tapering down to 18. If you can’t afford the BB54 go to Glycine and pick up the Combat Sub 39 or 36 before they are gone for less than £500 about $525.
Thanks for the review! Please make a comparison video of a Rolex Explorer 36 and this Tudor BB 54. It would be nice to see the size difference and hear your opinion :)

The lug profile on black bay 54 looks so graceful with its larger lug width to case size ratio like those on the Patek Phillipe calatrava.
Thanks for the video! How is your recovery coming along?
Love your content, this is what drew me to your channel in the first place, keep up the good work♥♥👍
Whaaaat! Thank you so much!
You know, I genuinely did not notice the bezel grip until I was looking at the B Roll for this video!

@@BrittPearceWatches It’s subtle but if you’re not a big fan of coin edge bezels, it’s one notch closer to a tooth edged bezel. Minor details only we notice 😂
Thanks for the comp, enjoy your channel!!!
Great show I needed a comparison and you look great
I wonder if the 5 link jubilee off the new burgundy bb41 will fit the bb58 or the 54 seeing how they are all 20mm... I'm curious.
Having both the BB54 with a BB58 blue is the perfect combo tbh. I want both! I wonder if we’ll see more black BB58 on the used market. Also, your jaw seems to be healing quickly! Happy for you. Have a great day all
Do the bb54 and bb58 have the same links?
I was the same after trying them. Also think the bb58 in blue has so much soul compared to the 54
Great news on the bracelet. Will fix the main issue I have with my BB58 Blue.
Right?! But sadly still faux rivets!
I’m 6ft tall 190lbs and have a 7inch wrist. I picked my BB54 up from my AD a few hours ago and am obsessed with the size. Compared it to the 58 and preferred the 54
Have to admit that those Blackie is so cute
Great review. I love the smaller period correct crown, lollipop seconds hands and the fact that it has a rubber strap option.
Will you be keeping both of your black bays Britt or we'll you be moving your 58 on ?
Excellent stuff Gringa! But are we living in a world where the BB58 counts as a beefy dive watch? 😆 Jokes aside, I'm on team BB58, which is still my grail watch. I actually prefer it's crown and the snowflake second hand. But this isn't to say the BB54 isn't a gorgeous watch as well! Of course it looks better on smaller wrists and to be honest, to me the difference in size doesn't look all that huge.
Hi, I have a BB58 blue and would like to get the warmer black too. What would you guys do? Buy a grey market 58 or the new 54 from an AD?
The black bey watches are amazing. I will be purchasing a new one in the near future.
Great content, keep it coming. Very well put together and extremely informative.
These reviews are a lot of fun. How many dive watches is the right amount?
Thanks for the review! Please make a comparison video of a Rolex Explorer 36 and this Tudor BB 54. It would be nice to see the size difference and hear your opinion :)
Great comparison. Really looking forward to someone doing an SKX013 / BB54 side by side also
For my 7.5" wrist the 41mm Black Bay is the best! I love my Pepsi and BB Panda Chrono.
