Good morning! I know your videos are a few years old, so I hope you get this message. My family and lived in Yemen for about 2 years, a small break, and then another 2 years. We have been craving some really good Yemeni food, but we live in a small East Texas town. We go to Lebanese restaurants when we can, but of course, it is not the same. So, I have ordered some fenegreek so I can try my hand at Saltah, one of our favorites. I make Yemeni tea all the time, and, in fact, am giving some of my friends, Yemeni tea and spices for Christmas, along with the recipe. Anyway, thanks for sharing your recipes and knowledge with us. I really enjoy watching them!
I learned to make this by watching my sister-in-law in Yemen. We used vegetable oil. I want to try it with butter and see if it tastes better/different.
Thank u for this wonderful recipe. I had a Yemeni neighbor that used to make this for me, I always wanted to learn how and thanks to you, I now know how to make it. I made it today and it was great! Not as hard as I thought it would be.
I like how you make your recipes easy and not too much yada yada... My neighbor used to make me these and I regret not learning how to make em hopefully with this recipe I will fulfill my craving. Lol
Thank you for sharing! This is so great, I've been begging my mom for years to teach me this recipe. I can't wait to surprise her this weekend and try it out!! 😊
thank you. i have been looking what the correct name and recipe for this bread for years as ive only known it as arab bread. but when i have explained its not the plain khobz its layered with butter and the man in the arab restaurant didnt know what i was on about. i luv this bread as it has a pastry taste n feel to it. delicious. my arab friend used to cook it for me.
im yemeni and I love my land so much....but I have to tell u that this yemeni bread is not yemeni.....it is indian...u can find it in every part of india with slight differences ....
Thanks for posting all your Yemeni recipes. You're an inspiration. You had a great teacher and your passing on your knowledge, that's something you don't see often with Yemeni people.
It's exactly the same as m'ssemen in Morocco we pat the dough n cut the small balls with oil or a mixture of butter n oil n we usually n traditionally eat it with honey n butter it s really yummy thanks for your efforts keep on track wish u all the best I ve just subscribed to your channel
ihssas limo yes! I was thinking the same thing! I’m more familiar with Moroccan food because my fiancé is Moroccan so when I saw this on a Yemeni cooking channel I was confused because I thought it was msemmen lol
That's exactly how we make ROTI/PARATHA in India mostly of wheat flour and the pan is called tawa in India as well...amazed how much world has common in them
I love this, we used to eat this for sohoor in ramadan when i was a kid - We used ghee instead of butter but now i dont use ghee anymore and just use oil, it's not as tasty ofcourse but it is healthy :)
That looks very good and reminds me of "fry-bread" which is a food my relatives used to make when I was little in Oklahoma and Texas (Cherokee and Choctaw descent). Great to have with honey or syrup for breakfast, or just even more butter. Probably good with your shakshuka recipe and your stews, too. Thanks. :)
I love this - made this recipe like 20 times, and always...always amazes guests - however I used ghee instead of butter :) but same same, but different :)
@@abdullahalbraiky5956 5 years have passed I no longer use butter or ghee but I use olive oil and it is still sensational. However, I add an additional step where doing my layers, Ill fold it into a thin strip - then I layer that side facing up with more oil and then roll into a pinwheel. I let it rest then roll it out pinwheel side facing up and then cook. It makes alot more layers and a beautiful swirl in the bread too I use this for Curries - Indian and or Malaysian for guests

I use vegetable oil as well! Let me know if the butter is better !
Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1.5 cups water
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, melted
How many pieces will it be?

Best time you eat it is around 5pm! with tea and sometimes put anything on it like boiled egg with chilli powder

I love this stretching technique. I thought it would be hard but it is easier than rolling. I make bread everyday. I wish I knew this years ago.
