    how to master chess:
game1: let your opponent attack and almost mate you but win on time
game2: be greedy and grab all the things and (don't) stalemate
game3: blunder your queen by premoving
game4: be distracted by someone in chat mentioning eric rosen double checkmate with rooks

People resign too fast a lot of times. I had a game yesterday where it looked like I was forking his king and queen so he resigned in like 2 seconds thinking his queen was lost but had either of us scanned the board a little longer would've seen that my knight doing the forking was left hanging for his bishop on the opposite side of board he could've just taken and been winning, but resigned to quickly. I almost always play out my games even when I blunder a rook or queen because you might get lucky and they blunder later or at least play for a draw/stalemate or win on time maybe

    • @SergheyKatastrofenko

Players like Hikaru wouldn't even get into this position cause they can calculate much faster, especially against weaker players who are less experienced and don't master each of the aspects of chess. I'm a fan of Gotham, don't get me wrong, but Hikaru is on a different level.
The lesson in this video is "Don't get tunnel vision". It's funny cause Levy says that all the time and he still does it, like all of us. :)) If the opponent didn't resign, he would have realized that Levy has no real threat and he actually had plenty of time to see that. It looks scary and it's hard to see all the positions during the game, but if you sit on it and think, you might get something out of a game like this.

Honestly, what helps me is to relax and be calm and confident. This allows me to take sufficient time for analysis, thwarting the opponent's plans, looking for checks, forks, discoveries, strengths and weaknesses, unprotected pieces, pins etc, before moving. Developing a good attitude beforehand can prevent anger, frustration and hasty moves which lose. Even by losing we can learn and improve, and perhaps be glad for the other player since it's only a game after all and we can't always win, nor keep improving.

This gives a forced mate in 1 if black moves the queen out of the way cause if the queen moves to c7 to defend the bishop then his sweetie is gone. In this position either his queen is lost or it's check mate. Best he can do is take a bishop or a rook.

Ì was playing a game where I had two rooks and a queen
And my opponent had one rook one queen
    Then he offered a trade
To be honest I wanted to trade
Then I remembered levy saying in a video that "when your up material and your opponent is not don't trade"
Then I declined the trade and went on to win the match thanks to levys brilliant advice🙂

Bro, when you're up in material, u should trade

    • @gabamarino2906
      @gabamarino2906 4 года назад +1

If u dont have in mind any attacking plan you should trade, the general rule is: if ur up material trade down and win the end game

So i think Levy told in a game not to trade couse he had a checkmate sequence using is material advantage, but the general rule is to trade

I'm embarrassed to say that Queens Gambit got me interested in getting better at Chess (it's really COVID's fault because, ordinarily, I'm not sat in front of the TV nearly as much!) I'm only coming into Chess now with a rudimentary understanding of how the pieces move and I'm *coughs** a level 600 on Chess.com and have been getting thoroughly destroyed in online games. I just want to say that I really appreciate your uploads, your insights, and the clean presentation of your material. Thank you!
Needless to say, I'm happy to be a new subscriber to your channel.

'Dont always go for material' is a very important one. It is very tempting. Also, be prepared to change your plan throughout the game, the situation can change dramatically

    Game 4 was fantastic.
That last game was REDICULOUS with that engine line.

Yes, I've come a cropper with these pre-moves before. Tried to analyse a queen sac on daily chess once, but didn't realise I'd opened the pre-moves rather than analysis tab. Came back a few hours later to a near lost situation.
