Good video! Recommend you rename your Cloud Key to your name. It personalizes your equipment and looks great when you show people your setup and have your name scroll by. Unifi also makes a Cloud Key rack mount kit so you can mount the Cloud Key in your rack. It looks pretty sweet. On a functionality point, be slow to buy the WiFi Access points. You may not need as many as you think. Install a few and test. Concerning the Gateway/Firewall, the advantage of the Unifi USG or Pro models is the ease of setup and integration into the system. If you’re getting 1G Fiber into your place, you have to go with the Pro. There is not enough horsepower in the USG if you plan on turning on deep packet inspection. On the flip side, a lot of people use pfSense for their Gateway/Firewall which can be loaded on most platforms. Amazon sells little PC systems that can be used or you could just use an old PC. Once last item you could consider adding is the Unifi Doorbell. It has great video and allows you to see and talk to someone at your door. Also consider the G4 series cameras (Doorbell has this) have smart detections where they identify people and/or cars which is so much better than motion detection alone. You will save a lot of hard disk space.
Hey Roger, Thank you for the great advices and insights. I will probably get the UDM Pro very soon to take advantage of all the features in UniFi Network. Also bought some G4 cameras to install, just need to add the doorbell to replace the Nest.
Now I am thinking about it 😀. We'll see! Will probably get it. I don't like the fact that I don't have all the insights from UniFi Network because the USG is missing.
Good video... I had a Ubiquiti UDM until about 3 weeks ago where it died on me from nowhere. I have then replaced it with Cisco Equipment. Do you plan on going with the UDM Pro or the USG ? I would not replace the fortigate for a USG but that's my opinion.
I am planning to go with the UDM Pro in about a month. Will try and see what it gives me. But I have been also reading some concerns about it and you just added yourself to the list, I will do some more digging to see if it is worth it. Because the FortiGate serves me well now. Thank you!
@@KBTrainings don’t sell the fortigate lol you might be back to it. Not knocking ubiquiti I think they are great but corporations deploy Cisco and fortigate for a reason. Stability!!
What do you think of the UniFi Cloud Key Gen 2 Plus?
Do you own or plan to have one?
I love the fortigate video... unifi is cool, but fortigate is what i use as work. Thankyou and keep up the great work 👍🏼
