The comment section has become worse than a group of spoilt 5 year olds whining about what they want and don't like. I am enjoying the vlogs a lot and think Benji is doing a great job. Obviously there can always be improvements but the amount of moaning is ridiculous.

Just thinking Jon looked more fresh faced in those old clips... even though they are only about 9 months old I think? Maybe it's because they were in summer? The punishing daily vlog schedule probably taking its toll too I guess.

Those vlogs were shot on a Leica and those tend to make things a lot more beautiful than other cameras such as a Sony a7s that they are now shooting on

I feel like the Edits with Benji keep getting better every day! Keep up the good work Benji!! Also everyone needs to realize Marcus was an Extrovert, so it was easier for him to be on camera right away. Benji seems like a Very Nice Guy, give Jon & Benji some time I'm sure they will develop Great chemistry also. Everyone needs to remember it takes time to build a Good Friendship. Today's Vlog was the first one in a while where I started seeing the Jon Olsson Style Vlogs again.

I think that you sould make your vlogs as in the past with Marcus. Not this overkill efects and make it simplier. I like to watch vlogs where you feel relaxed good and it makes me the same way :) Now I can see that you are stressed and you make too much things. i am looking forward to see your rolls, something from Monaco, visit Marcus. I must say, I began not being a fan of you. I thought just another rich guy and his toys and easy life. Later through a sudden strike of maturity, I realized that was simply jealousy on my part. You work really hard on your daily videos, business and life - all while maintaining a super positive attitude. Congrats on a very good series, I'm now a fan. Your work ethic and attitude is something to be proud of.

Man, I'm struggling with the vlogs nowadays. I used to prefer Jon's vlogs over Casey's a while back, but now I find little enjoyment in watching Jon. And I guess I'm not lone in that, since the vlog is growing at a reduced pace now. I'm trying to find the reasons for this and I think I have a pretty good idea. For one thing, without Marcus, there is no warmth to the vlogs. The chemistry between Marcus and Jon was amazing. Although Benji is a great guy, there is little chemistry between them. Jon, this is what you MUST have in mind going forward, if you want to bring the vlog back to its glory:
1. Stop overusing and overemphasize the edits. You're too focused on the gear and too little on providing an enjoyable watching experience. When you focus so much on the gear and use ridiculously expensive everything, and do these swoosh transitions etc constantly, you're mainly attracting wannabe filmers/editors/vloggers to the vlogs. In that process, you're losing us regular people, who have no ambition to start our own vlogs. Just take a look at the comment section -- a large amount of the people commenting are other vloggers/editors etc. Notice how people usually say "wow, that transition is awesome" and "amazing camera, you're the best vlogger". This is not the stuff that regular, non-filmmaker, people would point out. And keep in mind that the filmers/editor represent a tiny percentage of RUclips users. That's why many shitty channels grow faster than yours -- because they provide content for the masses, and not only for a niche group. The gear and the edits should be invisible. Content is king.
2. When looking for a filmer/editor, don't only look at the STAR editors (like Andreas, Arnie etc). These folks have their audience and are usually over ambitious, which is not good for you since the job essentially requires them to live YOUR life and only be in the background. Instead, you should find some decent common people who applied and test them out. Find someone who is comfortable living YOUR life for a long time. Don't only look for the stars and amazing editors. And please, focus more on the chemistry between you rather than the person's editing skills. Why not invite like 20 random people who applied to Marbella for 3-4 days and just hang out. You'll definitely find someone who you'll "click" with, like you did with Marcus.
3. Stop talking constantly about the vlog and the editing and the gear etc etc. It gets boring quite quickly when the vlog essentially becomes a "behing the scenes". Again, this only attracts other filmmakers and not common people. Yes, we know that you work hard, we know that you only slept for 3 hours, we know that you are "crazy" and live a hectic life, we know this. So stop telling us about it all the time. Just live your amazing life and let us spectate.
4. You don't have to travel/do crazy activities all the time for the vlog to be exciting. We enjoy watching your regular days too. My favourite vlogs are when you are either in Monaco or Marbella for a longer period of time and we get to watch you go grocery shopping, exercise, and just hang out. However, you should work on creating a wider variety of NARRATIVES. Talk to us about your life. Devote a vlog to telling us about some personal events. Or talk about Douchebags more in-depth. Talk about your family. Talk about some of your long-term goals (both personal and professional). Talk to us about some of your opinions and thoughts on important matters. So that we get to KNOW Jon. Because you're an amazing guy. And the vlogs used to be amazing. I wouldn't invest this much thought into this if I didn't love your stuff. The vlog is among the best ones out there. It's just a bit less amazing since Marcus left (not because of him, but because of the adjustments that you made since then).
adolicious True honestly I've not been excited watching Jon vlogs now. I use to be excited to see what Jon is going to upload. But now his vlogs seems boring and repetitive.
Agreed. Marcus and the old vlogs were the best. Too much talk about the vlog itself now*. Hopefully after #365 it gets more laid back and less concerned about the vlog and editing quality.
I'd say Ibiza and the trip with Riley are my favorite time periods of the vlog.
Well said. In short: I think Jon tries too hard to be entertaining, and he is too much of a perfectionist. The only thing he thinks about in his mind is views, subscribers and good content. Relax, just live your life, make funny edit, be real (if we want to see tv actors we will go to Netflix).
adolicious Totally agree with you! I can't tell why or give actual reasons why but the VLOGS with Marcus justed seemed to be more natural and more personal. With the others it's feels like business.

there will always be people perfectly happy with Jon's vlogs, and people who find that there's something missing/not quite good. I personally think that MARCUS was special because he was confident and was not acting or feeling like Jon's employee. BENIE is a really nice guy and i would like him to stay for a long time. But i guess the circumstances with Marcus and BENIE were quite different, that's why Marcus felt more natural and confident. BUT I still ENJOY every single vlog, with understanding that you can't get exciting or creative content every single day, i just want to watch it because i'm kind of attached to Jon and Janni now D
