Thank you for the info! I was worried a Cricut couldn't handle the level of detail I need in my vinyl designs but it sounds like the Glowforge can't do vinyl at all.
The Aura does need any gas as it is a diode laser. There is an IKEA alex cart it fits on perfectly but you need a little more room if you have the air filter. And it is really light weight actually.
Very informative vid. My question is which would work best for me if I want to create my own acrylic blanks for mold making. Max 3mm thick acrylic. Thanks
You will need a laser to cut acrylic that thick. If you are okay with a colored acrylic, a diode laser like the xTool S1 would work well. If you need clear acrylic, you will have to invest in a CO2 laser.
HI Angie: This was very informative and it helped me to realize that I do not want an Aura but the pro Glowforges are too much for what I would use them for. Are thre any comparison videos with the XTool and Cricut?? I'm trying to find something I can use along with my hubby who is a wood crafter but we are both hobbyists not sellers. Thanks
Hmmm. I am not sure! You would have to find a sticker paper that could be cut with a laser first as many of them cannot be due to what they are made from.
XTool M1 best value for the money, combines laser with a blade cutter also, no need to have both a Laser and a Cricut cutter, also 10W which is more powerful than that GlowForge Aura.
You would have to make sure the magnet sheet didn't contain any PVC as some would. Second, the magnet itself can lose some strength and it can be a bit messy. It may or may not be worth it.
Very informative and straight to the point, thank you Angie!
You are so welcome!
Ty new to glowforge aura. Made a few things. Very informative. Live my Maker3 and my other cricut’s
Have a great day

The Aura can cut vinyl however it would have to be special for cutting on a laser.
Great video! Help
Me make my decision. Where did you get your cabinet? Love the organization

What items do you need for the glowforge and requirements? Space, gases, weight, etc.

I know Hey Let's Make Stuff posted a Glowforge Vs Xtool video that might help!
Hi! love your channel.. Can the cricut engrave leather patches?
It does "engrave" but actually it scratches the surface so you do not get the same engraving you get with a glowforge.
@@AngieHolden thanks for the advice.
Have you tried the XTool machines? It's an laser machine as well and I was looking into getting one.
I have not since I have just dove in. I hear good things about them though so I would say they are a good investment!
Great video and to the point! I would like to make a nativity set with my glowforge machine, can I do it?
I think so!
I wish they would ship glowforge aura to australia!
How would the gloforge aura do with stickers?

Should I buy a XTool or a glow forge ?

Head to laser-ready.com to get the free guide that discusses a bit of this and how to determine what is right for you.
Can glowforge cut magnet sheet? How thick? Thanks
