So here is the issue that needs to be clarified:Many people use the abbreviation “SAW,” “SAWS,” or “PBUH” to fulfill this obligation in their writing. Is this something that fulfills the obligation of sending the salaah and salaam on the Messenger? Let us look now to some of the statements of the scholars regarding this practice.
The Permanent Committee of Scholars in Saudi Arabia headed by ‘Abdul-‘Azeez ibn ‘Abdillaah ibn Baaz issued the following verdict when asked about the validity of abbreviating the salaah on the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam): “The Sunnah is to write the entire phrase “sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam,” since it is a kind of supplication, and supplication is worship, (in one’s writing) just as it is in one’s speech. So to abbreviate it using the letter SAAD or the word SAAD-LAAM-‘AYN-MEEM is not a supplication nor is it worship, whether it occurs in speech or writing. For this reason, this abbreviation was not used by the the first three generations, those that the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) testified to their goodness.” [8]
“SAAD” and “SAAD-LAAM-‘AYN-MEEM” are often used in some Arabic books. The English equivalents of these abbreviations would be: SAW, SAWS, SAAWS, PBUH, and the likes.
Al-Fayrooz-Abaadee said, “It is not appropriate to use symbols or abbreviations to refer to salaah and salaam, as some of the lazy ones do, as well as some ignorant people and even some students of knowledge - they write ‘SAAD-LAAM-‘AYN-MEEM’ instead of writing ‘sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam.'” [9]
Ahmad Shaakir said, “It is the absurd tradition of some of the later generations that they abbreviate the writing of ‘sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam.'” [10]
Wasee Allaah ‘Abbaas said, “It is not permissible to abbreviate the salaams in general in one’s writing, just as it is not permissible to abbreviate the salaah and salaam on the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam). It is also not permissible to abbreviate either of these in one’s speech.” [11]
And Allaah knows best. May the most perfect and complete salaah and salaam be upon our beloved Messenger, and upon his noble family and companions.

    Ibnul Qayyim rahmitullah said:
The signs and the evidences that indicated the authenticity of his
prophethood and his truthfulness are many times more than the signs of the former prophets. The signs of his prophethood are greater, more overwhelming and more significant, and the ascription of his prophethood through a chain of many uninterrupted authorities, proximal in time, of different countries and periods, and the impossibility of their collusion to lie, provides a definitive proof. The ascriptive knowledge of the signs of his prophethood is as certain as the knowledge of his existence, emergence, and country, leaving no place for haughtiness to doubt it. And the haughty person against accepting it is indeed audacious and slanderous. It would be like a haughty person who refuses to believe what the majority of the people had seen of lands, provinces, mountains and rivers, because he had not seen them himself.

Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e. Muhummed ﷺ) whom they find written with them in the Taurat (Torah) (Deut, xviii, 15) and the Injeel (Gospel) (John xiv, 16), - he commands them for Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islāmic Monotheism and all that Islām has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islām has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At-Taiyibat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khaba'ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons, foods, etc.), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allāh's Covenant), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhummed ﷺ), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Qur'ān) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful. [7:157]

@@speedymicroman5893 hey, so basically when reading the Quran a lot of the times it is specifically addressing the Prophet and it says things like "O prophet" or 'say, o prophet' and gives him instructions or advice. its really beautiful advice but a lot of the time these verses apply to my life directly and i feel like it comforts me and helps me. so is it wrong if i interpret it as addressing my situation even if it was specifically meant to the prophet from god? would that be ok or is that just wrong to do and i should only use the more general verses for all people and leave those verses alone?? thanks.

@@30251 Salam , that's a beautiful question that you asked , In the Quran there isn't a verse that a muslim should leave alone , there is a purpose and message behind every word that Allah chooses for us to receive and recite and ultimately live by , I can't deny that there are specific matters which are unique to the Prophet pbuh but even those have meanings and morals that people should draw from , things and practices that Mohamed pbuh can do that we are not allowed to, things that are special for him as a messenger as the best of all creation , Most of the time instructions and legislation are meant to be guidance for all humankind , when Allah sometimes instructs the prophet pbuh to do things directly and addresses him directly muslims are in the majority of time also compelled to follow the example of the prophet to reflect and live up to what Allah wants as long as those things arent specific to the prophet and him alone it would be recommended for a muslim if not obligatory to do the same and follow but it depends on the specific instruction , it is safe to say that most of the time Allah wants us to learn and be guided by the things he chooses to tell his messenger and it is for our benefit to do the same however as you know there is always exceptions to the rule and that's when we need to make the research and ask the knowledgeable people and read what scholars say and how the messenger's companions reacted and understood the verse , Hope this would help I'd love to know which verses you are talking about if you can give me an example maybe I can give you a clearer answer , God knows best!

@@speedymicroman5893 thank you for the great response, it makes me feel better. i agree things like talking about the prophet and his wives and private life i understand are very specific to him. but an example of what i meant, i guess would be like chapter Qalam, the prophet is being told "You are not insane, you are of a noble character" and in other chapters "Your lord has not forsaken you" and "god is with you" and so much more, and that God will reward him for being patient and true. it just feels like i can relate sooo hard and it feels like god is talking direcly to me and it makes me feel very calm and happy. ..but i dont want to disrespect the prophet by doing that or by interpreting it in such a way...as if i could compare myself to what he went through or as if my experiences are anything like his. what do you think?

@@30251 You are totally right and that is in my opinion expected from us when we read the Quran which is a book of truth wisdom and morality among other things , Allah wants us to think of the hardship that our beloved prophet pbuh went through and wants us to reflect and see his character and his morals as the pinnacle of perfectness and beauty and in that for us the best and purest of guidance , Allah talks to his messenger pbuh in the Quran which is meant to be read by all his servants like me and you when we read such verses we can't help feel as if it is talking to us and making us feel better , the Quran is the speech of Allah the direct connection that we have with him and the best way we can listen to what he wants us to know about him about life and what's expected from us during the tests and challenges that we WILL face , Allah is indeed with us Allah says , He is indeed with the patient , May he make us one of them , when Allah talks to his prophet we are supposed to think, open our hearts and experience what is meant for us to read and interact with the message , smile when you feel like it , say subhan Allah and cry if you have to , Quran is meant to live in our hearts and soften them , seeing yourself in the verse and feeling that it was meant for you as if GOD is talking to you is a great sign that you are connecting with the book the way you should and living the proof of the miracle , Glorify Allah and thank him for the heart he gave you and the new answers you find in his words every time you read them. Mufti ibn Muneer is in London. Maybe you should sit and benefit from him considering he is a real student of knowledge.

      Moses didn't write:
      Deuteronomy 34
      **********
5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6 He buried himin Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, BUT TO THIS DAY NO ONE KNOWS WHERE HIS GRAVE IS. 7 Moses WAS a hundred and twenty years old WHEN HE DIED, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. 8 The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.

And on disrespecting Prophets you need to first remove the plank from your own eye before you point at anyone else.
Your man tampered Book gives it to you in your face.
Does God give SHAMEFUL commands to His Prophets, His emissary, His representative on earth. Is that the quality of God????
      Isaiah 20:2-4
2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, GO AND LOOSE THE SACKCLOTH FROM OFF THY LOINS, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking NAKED and barefoot.
      3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked NAKED and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;
4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
Can you imagine? God Almighty commanding His Prophet to go around NAKED ... ...
Isaiah. One of the mightiest prophets of the Bible... Going around NAKED - Up and down the streets wherever he was in front of all: Women, children, his mother, his daughter and in front of known and stranger.
      God does that????
      ************
      ************
Now you Christians are even ashamed to mention such repulsive and disgusting things (God commanding His Prophet to go around NAKED) in your very own Children's Bible. Why? It's the "Word of God" and you like to change it? Here is from the International Children's Bible:
      2
The Lord said, “Take the rough cloth off your body. Take your sandals off your feet.” So Isaiah obeyed the Lord. He walked around without his clothes of rough cloth or his sandals.
      20:3
Then the Lord said, “Isaiah my servant has walked around without his clothes of rough cloth or his sandals for three years. This is a sign for Egypt and Cush.
      20:4
The king of Assyria will defeat Egypt and Cush. Assyria will take prisoners and lead them away from their countries. The old people and young people will be led away NAKED. They will go without clothes and without sandals.
      ‘ā·rōm = NAKED
The exact same word in Hebrew is there for Prophet Isaiah and general public BUT even your very translators are ashamed to give such repulsive and disgusting stuff to the children. Why do you do that? HYPOCRITES.
You won't use NAKED for Isaiah but will use NAKED for others?!?!?!
Because common sense and God given senses repel such filthy, dirty repulsive idea that God would give such shameful commands to His Prophet, His Emissary, His Representative on earth. The clear thinking mind of the child will throw away such disgusting idea and more likely throw away the "Holy Bible" that contains such repulsive and UNGODLY and UNHOLY concepts about God. But no, no, no: You don't want the children the young mind to see such stuff and throw away the Book that contains such stuff so you manipulate. And once the children are indoctrinated and mentally programmed for some years till they grow up, then anything goes.

Isaiah NAKED was too heavy for you so you could not even touch that.
