  • To charge more, we need to be seen as valuable by potential clients. However, many bookkeepers struggle with effectively communicating their worth and making a lasting impression even before they start working with a client. In a recent talk at Accountex, we delved into the challenges faced by accountants and bookkeepers in raising prices and finding clients. We explored strategies to overcome these hurdles and shared insights on building visibility and communicating value effectively.
One common issue we discovered is that many professionals in the industry tend to focus solely on their day-to-day work, overlooking the importance of being visible. In an industry where clients can be quite intimidated by accounting and tax, there's a huge opportunity to break down barriers and become known for being approachable.
Encourage people to reach out and have a conversation with you. By fostering a welcoming and accessible atmosphere, you can help potential clients feel more comfortable and confident in engaging with your services.
Taking the first step can be daunting, but it is crucial to overcome that fear. We understand the apprehension that comes with stepping out of your comfort zone. However, getting started is vital. Whether it's creating videos, writing articles, or engaging on social media, the key is to take action. Once you start, you'll gain momentum and become more comfortable with visibility and self-promotion.
Coming back to the connection between visibility and charging higher rates. We found that professionals who believe in their visibility tend to charge more for their services. By consistently reinforcing your value through testimonials, expertise, and credibility, you not only communicate your worth to potential clients but also strengthen your own self-belief. This increased confidence positively impacts sales calls, making it easier to ask for higher fees and confidently express the value you provide.
Raising your prices and finding clients requires a strategic approach to building visibility and effectively communicating your value.
