    Great channel. When I thought I spilled water inside my machine, you had a video showing how to completely take it apart. I did so with ease and everything was dry but later I was having respiratory problems. I'm religious about keeping my machine clean so I took it apart again and found dust and debris on the sponges inside which indicated a leakage some place. I cleaned everything real well and let the sponges dry completely. After re-assembly, it had an audible leak and I had to take it apart and re-assemble to solve that problem! I heard there was a pill that could replace the CPAP machine but who wants to pump that through their bodies? (Actually, you do a video about that too! Bravo for staying on top of things!)

    Thanks for the video. I wash the mask with soap once a day. Once a week I put my mask and tubing and soak it in vinegar for at least 15 minutes. I usually soak it in vinegar for an hour. Vinegar usually kills everything. Hope this helps. I have used my CPAP machine for many years.

  • @virgil3241
    @virgil3241 2 года назад +16

    Want to save some money, cut the mask wipe in half. Or just run the mask under soapy water and let it air dry. I have been soaking mine in just soap and water for the last 6 years every 2 weeks and air dry. Life moves on and I was still on all my original hoses and tanks. I assume if it was wrong, I would of had issues during that time. Like the video shows, simple just works.

    When it comes to the filter, I've been following the advice the breathing unit nurse gave me long ago: I take it out once every two weeks and flick it a couple of times with my finger to knock out most of the dust (easily visible when doing it in front of a lamp), and then make sure to put it back in with the dusty side facing out. Then I replace it once every 6 months, just as ResMed suggests.
    Note that this is with the regular filter type, I'm not sure if it's possible to knock out dust all that well with the hypoallergenic filter type.

One thing I discovered, however, that in order to pull that doohickey off the back of the machine I have to rotate a circular ring in order to get it off. I can't thank you enough for all these videos, I've been on cpap therapy for the last 6 days, and already have noticed a change. Your videos have been a godsend on just how to use it comfortably.. I'm honestly not sure how I'd be if I hadn't stumbled upon your videos. I do have one question- I have the f20 mask with the memory foam- I've been using the wipes and kind of squeezing the foam with the wipes to hopefully get the face oils out of there. Then I spray everything with cpap sanitizer.
    Is there a better way to do it? Also I've seen mixed info about whether or not I should submerge the mask because of the foam- in fact the tech who came over to fit me and show me how to use the machine has the same mask and he told me he doesn't soak it- he just surface cleans the entire mask with wipe. What do you suggest? I'm about to embark on my first "weekly" thorough cleaning, and not sure what to do about the mask.

    It looks like you are using an Amara View mask. Does the little white hose cause rainout since its not heated? I am having a lot of rainout using this mask.

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  2 года назад +2

      G'day, this is an Evora Full by F&P but similar to the Amara View. I haven't experienced any rainout with it because it's summer but if you want to fix your rainout you need to either 1. Increase the tube air temp so that the air can hold more water as vapour or 2. Decrease the humidity
      Keeping the machine lower than your bed also seems to help
      Best wishes

    The manual clearly states 6 months replacement for the filters. I did not think that was right so I checked for our rep. I was told that patients should defer to their DME replenishment schedule, which is monthly or bimonthly changing. What a stupid thing to do on their part.

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  2 года назад +5

      G'day, yeah doesn't make sense to me so i just do it monthly. The filtrations systems are rubbish anyhow. They need to bring in some good filter technology really clean up the airflow. Cheers

    • @FireMrshlBill
      @FireMrshlBill 2 года назад

      Ya, the tech told me based on which insurance company I have (I'm in the US) I will either get 1 or 2 filters sent every month (so replace every 15 or 30 days accordingly). I think the air pillow replacement was like that too, depending on which insurance company I have I will get replacements on different schedules. Just weird that its not just a standard across the board. New basin and tube every 6 months, new mask piece every 3 months, but only get the band/strap every 6 months, etc. He didn't even address cleaning or replacing that connector piece you snap out of the airsense 11 itself, so will just clean and see if they sent replacements for that with the tubing.

    • @jeremysimpson1432
      @jeremysimpson1432 Год назад

      @@FireMrshlBill same schedule as you, actually is frustrating that they only change the straps every 6 months. I swear my straps get loose and unusable and the foam in the back of the strap degrades after 1-2 months. Maybe I’m to oily or something and it starts eating IDK. But it’s annoying for 4 months I fight it and they want $65!!! For that crap… tried buying one from Amazon, it works but it’s to small.

    • @FireMrshlBill
      @FireMrshlBill Год назад

      @@jeremysimpson1432 Ya, that is strange. I actually found out I get new tubing every 3 months. 2x nose pillows a month (wasteful), 2x filters a month (wasteful), new mask piece and tubing every 3 months, and then 6 months on strap and water tank. Luckily my strap has held up so far (coming on 4 months), but my head is also massive, so it is barely tightened, so room to tighten more if it looses elasticity or loosens up. I think the holes in the strap that the mask's wings (no idea what they are called) slide into are most likely to loosen up and not hold. I should look into aftermarket to see if something is more comfortable that can be easily washed/dried.
