These are what videos need to be. Informative and entertaining. Been looking at the game alot recently and find your videos the most enjoyable. Keep it up man.
I’m always looking for a video like this when getting into a new MMO and I rarely find one this on the money. Concise yet comprehensive enough to know what I’m getting into while also showing lots of visuals. Thank you very much!
Gotta love those dungeons as a healer where you're essentially all three - taking damage, dealing damage, and trying to keep the kiddies (and yourself) alive.. all to find no commendations sent your way. Anyhoo, loved the video it resonated quite a bit and brought me back to FFXIV for another go at it. Thanks!
I always played as warrior, and healers normally got my commendation unless they were acting toxic in the dungeons. Healers and decent tanks deserve them.
I was expecting this to be full of jokes, was so pleasantly surprised it was helpful! If ever I find friends asking how some classes are or if I find people wanting to try the game I’ll link them to this! ^^
Aaaah yes, the dilemma once you taste a few jobs yourself. Played WoW for a good decade myself and some other mmo's before and after. Landed in Eorzea in november playing the demo, went subscription in january and tried bard, monk, paladin, conjurer and monk so far - basically had a shot at every kind of job (tank, melee/ranged/caster dps and heal) but sticking to my arrowslinger as I enjoy this job the most. Nice mobility, decent dps and great support for the whole party. Also enjoying the raids alot even though I have yet to get into a FC and experience some extreme/savage modes. About to enter Alphascape 4.0 for the first time and yet I still want to master the star/larboard thing in AS3 - the only mechanic I still panic about and hit the dirt :D After many MMOs played I really found my home although hesitant to try the demo as I always was a fan of the "offline" FF franchise and it felt like betraying my love - yet, if you folks reading love the Final Fantasy series, its stories and are a somewhat hardcore mmo fan it would be just wrong to ignore this game. And don't be fooled by the somewhat long global cooldown - once you hit level 50+ you will have enough abilities, buffs and dots/hots to take care of and to build a nice solid rotation around them :D
join a static for the savage content, makes your life a lot easier (see what type of progress you're searching for) hardcore static: name says it, you'll be raiding the vast majority of the week, going for speed kills after clears itself and you gotta perform out of your mind. Midcore static: a more laid back approach, general time to beating a fight depends but the 3rd and 4th fight are generally 5-6 weeks. or a casual static: even more laid back, will clear the tier at some point, or maybe not who know. midcore statics generally have players with flexible schedules, you can find statics for midcores that do 2-3 days a week for 2-3 hours but also 4 days of 3 hours and in general, they communicate which days will be chosen as raid days each week. for Extreme trials just join party finder groups (find practise obviously when you're practising) cleared every ex trial without my static.
Lol I love this video. Especially the part about the ranged dps being too scared. I started as a War not knowing how to play it and switched to Brd because I was frightened lol.
@@TheOberjarl1 basically there are optimal strategies for late game raids and if you have the "wrong"/subpar class you might have trouble getting a spot in party finder or on a static. But shadowbringers will probably change the meta anyway so i probably wouldn't concern myself with this too much. What I'm talking about doesn't matter until you hit lvl 70 and have a high item level (in the ballpark of 380)
Awesome video, answered all my questions. Good presentation with the perfect quantity of info and nice footage to appreciate the visuals associated with the jobs. The jokes are appreciated too :)! Couldn't do a better job with this video!

I love getting notification of Larry's new vid while watching his older vids :D
that's like the biggest youtube compliment possible AHHH, thank yoU! :D
Do you think you will make a new one with the new classes added on with the new update?
Haha yea, usually tank get the commend. While the tank commend the healer.
@@dr_alejandro Decent DPS deserves them too. Without them Dungeons would be taking a long time to do.
@@Japantscringeymofo true, however I give it to the healer unless the healer is not doing well and then it goes to a dps.
I was expecting this to be full of jokes, was so pleasantly surprised it was helpful! If ever I find friends asking how some classes are or if I find people wanting to try the game I’ll link them to this! ^^
yay! :D that's my hope!
"There's one more but we don't really talk about that one." Thanks a lot, I actually choked on my dinner from that!
this is a really great video, it told me what I needed to know without it being super long and boring. I dig it!
I'm watching this while pushing through a severe case of chronic diahrea
🤣🤣
I'm sorry you broke LoS so I can't esuna
About to enter Alphascape 4.0 for the first time and yet I still want to master the star/larboard thing in AS3 - the only mechanic I still panic about and hit the dirt :D
After many MMOs played I really found my home although hesitant to try the demo as I always was a fan of the "offline" FF franchise and it felt like betraying my love - yet, if you folks reading love the Final Fantasy series, its stories and are a somewhat hardcore mmo fan it would be just wrong to ignore this game. And don't be fooled by the somewhat long global cooldown - once you hit level 50+ you will have enough abilities, buffs and dots/hots to take care of and to build a nice solid rotation around them :D
join a static for the savage content, makes your life a lot easier (see what type of progress you're searching for)
hardcore static: name says it, you'll be raiding the vast majority of the week, going for speed kills after clears itself and you gotta perform out of your mind.
Midcore static: a more laid back approach, general time to beating a fight depends but the 3rd and 4th fight are generally 5-6 weeks.
or a casual static: even more laid back, will clear the tier at some point, or maybe not who know.
midcore statics generally have players with flexible schedules, you can find statics for midcores that do 2-3 days a week for 2-3 hours but also 4 days of 3 hours and in general, they communicate which days will be chosen as raid days each week.
for Extreme trials just join party finder groups (find practise obviously when you're practising)
cleared every ex trial without my static.
...you just didn't have the ucob fists did you?
why would I buy that? :^)
@@Larryzaur REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Because real mnks fight with barefists
Emperors New Fists, or change jobs.
Hey, Don't Hate on the Guy in Blue., also as a Tank person, i Always Commend the Healers.
also -2 points for no Odin Cameo at the end.
*Sees Shadowbringer trailer* EPIC!!!!
*Realizes I haven't even beaten the ARR story* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Lol I love this video. Especially the part about the ranged dps being too scared. I started as a War not knowing how to play it and switched to Brd because I was frightened lol.
Time to redo this entire thing once we get the combat update come 5.0! ^^
*shit*
(but really most of this info should hold true, at least to give a general feel of what the jobs do)
@@Larryzaur yoshiP: bitch you thought
But I didn't sub here for serious guides. I don't want to get educated D:
TOO BAD, SIT DOWN AND LEARN
We don't need no, edumacation!
I don't need to be good at the game. As a samurai main, i don't even get to play with people since i'm always kicked right the moment i join :O
Leafos shhh little monk, one day you’ll get a book and a pet. And then the world will burn from your Bahamut’s destructive might.
@@dullahan_of_light6047 As a SMN main I feel instant triggered. D:
I DIDN'T EXPECT TO BE EDUCATED BY THIS VIDEO,,, but these are actually really good summaries?? Props to u larry-senpai
hehehe >D CONSIDER YOURSELF INFORMED
these classes look damn amazing D:
Great video with some humor. My friend is trying to get me into this game and this gives me a good idea of what to expect.
Wow just in time, I found your Video series today and started playing FFXIV
Welcome to ffxiv! :D
This was actually very insightful for how short it was. Kinda got me interested in a couple classes I haven't tried yet.
In like, the two days I've been watching you, you've become one of my favourite people in the world
AHH (*゚∀゚*) thank you so much!!
Everything changed when the Shadowbringers attacked.
*Laugh in whm*
UNLIMITED POWEEEEER!
Tanks: WAR + PLD
Damage: DRG + NIN + BRD + SMN
Healers: SCH + AST
Start off with either of those and you will have more fun in endgame :)
Baraka why is that? I just start the trial and I am very enjoying the game so far, though I am just at the beggining. So just curious.
@@TheOberjarl1 basically there are optimal strategies for late game raids and if you have the "wrong"/subpar class you might have trouble getting a spot in party finder or on a static.
But shadowbringers will probably change the meta anyway so i probably wouldn't concern myself with this too much.
What I'm talking about doesn't matter until you hit lvl 70 and have a high item level (in the ballpark of 380)
Awesome video Larry
I'll translate it to BR Portuguese and send to my friends
That would be awesome!!
0:36 EX-PLO-SHUN!
It's okay Blue Mage, I still like you even if Larry doesn't.
Awesome video, answered all my questions. Good presentation with the perfect quantity of info and nice footage to appreciate the visuals associated with the jobs. The jokes are appreciated too :)!
Couldn't do a better job with this video!
Larry your videos are always fun to watch. I like the change up on this one. Informative yet still had some funny put in. Great video to watch for new players coming into FFXIV!
WHEN IS BASICALLY GUNBREAKER BabyRage
*deadpans to the camera*
Dolphinboi male viera are with the 200 dollar collector edition ONLY
There is one problem with this. MONKS CANT SUPLEX TRAINS!!!!!
That is true. Phantom Train is the only train in the game.
If we can't do it, at least have Godbert do it in a cutscene.
dat end credit loop though
oh yeah Y'shtola, beat me with your magic staff.
*Describes all the classes.*
"Then there's one more, but we don't talk about that one."
BLU mains: ;-;
Great Video!! I'm a FF player since NES and miss the FFXI days... just getting started with FFXIV and really appreciate this TO THE Point start-help... CHEERS!!
Honestly my favourite part of this video is all the comments going "omg a genuinely informative video ARE YOU OK LARRY D:" 😂
Hey Larry why didn't you cover the Jobs that are coming out in 8.0?
Good question 🤔
Larryzaur yeah larry, wheres the sheepmaster and whipslicer? Excuse me i mean SHP and WHS
Larry: "you got your healers who need to stop the idiots who are trying their hardest to die"
me as WHM: I agree with Larry there
Ikr !
I know this video is pretty outdated right now, but i just love going back to watch it every now and then.
This felt like Alan Alda was teaching me Final Fantasy and I loved it. Thank you for the help!
This. All of this.
You were talking so matter-of-factly I started to wonder who you were and what had they done with Larry....but thing you said thingamabob and I breathed a sigh of relief. lol :D

@@Larryzaur pfft same difference >.> lmao
...I was waiting for the punchline when he got serious and then I realized he made us the punchline.
"Wanna run something new for the first time? Too bad!" - I felt that
I’ve never been interested in FF, but they thst trailer honestly got me wanting to play this shit
Loved your fast paced humor, and I learned what I needed. Thank you.
As a brand new player who has just installed the game, this video is amazing. thank you !
Before I started the game : God, I don't understand any of this !
Now that I play FFXIV : Gods, I still don't understand any of these jobs !
as someone who’s been searching for a mmo,i found my game. thanks so much :’)
Welcome to ffxiv c:
U might wanna do part 2 after the update 😂
Thank you, I actually think this helped me choose what I want to start out with! Of all the stuff I watched this actually gave me a real feel for the game and an idea of how it plays. I am now excited to give it a shot!
Fantastic video, fantastic narration, funny and deep into all classes. Very impressive. Thank you.
