I just bought my super freak yesterday and got it for $169.00 I love it so far and cant stop playing with it. Ive been using the Griptilian for the past couple of years and I like this one much better.
@@smalls03 Im not sure, I walked into my lgs (Frog Bones Melbourne) and that was the price they had on it. I saw it everywhere else for $190 so I bought it right away. They have pretty good pricing because they sell a lot of Benchmades.
I bought one of these a couple weeks ago and I guess I’m in the minority of people slightly bothered by having to pay for a deep-carry clip. They can give you a 2 cent clip when you purchase a $200 knife. Just my opinion. Love the knife, either way.
My best Bro. has this knife and it has been his EDC for a year now and the coating is still looking really good. He uses it for work at the auto parts store & as his food prep knife every day for lunch too!
Red thumb studs and the deep pocket carry clip make this knife an 11 !!! Glad you are still liking the Super Freek! Hoping to see the mini super freek soon!
Your killing me Im supposed to be getting one of these next week I was actually just rewatching your other Super Freek vids. I can't wait to get one of these in my hand
I just saw today (4/24/22) that there is a Mini Freek, 3", Carbon Fiber, S-90V, red back spacers and thumb studs @ $279. ... Thanks to your review, I used an REI annual dividend to get a sweet discount on the M4 Freek, a few days ago. I think it's the 19th Axis Lock I"ve purchased. I was buying Benchmades before particle metallurgy and Axis Locks were around (Leopard [1st production ATS-34 blade in the US?], Stryker, Mini Reflex, earliest Bali Song, Gravitator). The Freek has rocketed up near the top onto the short list. ... Thanks for the great review. ... Happy cutting!
I'm leaning heavily towards this being my next knife purchase. No gaurantees..seems every time I make up my mind to get a particular knife, I end up grabbing something else, lol..but I do really like the looks of this one, and who doesn't like M4..and throw in an Axis lock, and it just gets better!
I had the original, I have the limited edition version (I died the scales emrold green, and the back spacer black) and the super freek. I love the knife design.
"m4 stays sharp for forever" I didn't know one 8 hour work day was forever 😂 Breaking down boxes, cutting cocking/shims, opening paint cans, scraping up dried liquid nail/other adhesives, cutting and shaving dry wall, prying out staples, etc. In one day turns m4 into a butter knife. But this is still my favorite benchmade 😍 M4 out performs the 20cv grips solely because the 20cv chips out in these tasks and m4 does not.
@@davidlane6808 I do have tools. But when I don't have the tool within hands reach the knife is what I go to. RN my main work knife is the microtech ludt 😂
Sweet looking knife, I've had one these in the cart a few times. I didn't know that they had changed their warranty TOS, I wonder how much of a pain warranty/parts requests are going to be for international customers now?
I don't get all the comments about the axis lock being a pain to disassemble. Its really not complicated and honestly with most of mine I just treat them like an integral and remove only the pivot, take the blade and bushings out, clean it up, add some lube to keep the bushings in place and gently slide back in...has worked great for quick maintenance for me.
If the Hogue Ritter is better (based on price) yet you carry the Benchmade Freek more, then you are getting better value out of the BM Freek (costs less per use.)
I tried the freek last year but this one is one of my favorite purchases this year. I put a Saibu deep carry on mine and it matches the grey perfectly. Love it !! Great long term 👍

I like the fact that benchmade coat their M4 blades. I own a couple of carbon steel blades, 1095, C75 & they can be a nuisance to care for, I live in the UK & I'm right next to the Irish Sea, carbon blades can rust even with lots of care here. I agree with what you said about having a choice between coated & uncoated though.
I actually contacted BM two days ago about getting a deep carry clip. Their response was that I would see it in 4-6 weeks, free of charge and I'm Canadian. I offered to pay, they didn't respond yet lol
Benchmade’s customer service is indeed awesome. When the blue paint on my Bugout thumb studs started to peel, I simply dropped them an email with some photos. Two weeks later new thumb studs arrived in my mailbox in The Netherlands. Free of charge as well.
Apparently they had to start charging for clips because people were selling their free clips on eBay, which just isn’t cool. But it would seem they have some level of discretion when you ask for one, which is nice.
You should check out the Dutch Bushcraft Knives “Strongest Folding Knife” video. Benchmade sent them this knife and it did surprisingly well. Amazingly, the Omega spring didn’t break! I mean, I’ve never had one break, but almost everyone else on the internet has had all of their break.
I really like the look of this knive. Unfortunately no dealer in my country got it. I'm a little concerned if i should order a knive which is so expensive (~ €230,- is expensive for me) in a online store. Who knows, maybe I'll be lucky one day.
I would have to say that the Anthem is the best thing Benchmade has made in the last 5 years. I could also argue that with the aftermarket scale market the Bugout could be the best thing they've made lately.
I was torn between this one and the bailout. I ended up going with the bailout. Just like the color and the glass break. Can’t wait to try out the M4 steel!
Id love to see this vs the BM 550/551-1 griptilian. I just got the 550-1 and was choosing between it and this knife. But im seriously considering this knife as my hard use work knife.
What’s the difference between this Super Freek and the Barrage 581 with M390 blade? I just bought the Barrage and wondered which one is better? Thanks.
Just bought the low end Freek a few weeks back and am enjoying it tremendously. I could have gone with the “Super” version, but did not care for black/green/red color combo. Just personal preference. Slicey, you are correct; a satin blade would have made me overlook the green and red. I actually like the rubber/grivory scales and find they are less of an issue inserting into pockets with a deep carry clip, and like the solid purchase it provides. Great extended use overview!
"Grippy rubbery"? You mean an elastomer? The stuff on toothbrush handles? What's the one Cold Steel used on a fixed blade or two? Kraton? (Not Kratom) :)
What is the big deal about taking a knife like this apart. Of course I have no idea...I would just like an explanation. Is it getting the sprig back in place or what is it.?
Slicey Dicey...that helps...thanks. I guess I’ve never really paid a lot of attention to a review that had to deal with that issue. You might want to consider it, regardless of the problems that might come with it. It could be quite informative. I’m sure no one would ding you for cussing...lol.

On the flip-side of that possible screw-head protrusion issue, Craig. Is that I know for a fact. That hundreds, if not thousands of people over these past few years.
