These guys asked for £150 to fix my chip on my windscreen and I did it my self for £10 with a chip repair kit from halford lmao

As a follow up Halford do a repair service at some branches where they drill centre of crack and fill with resin finishing off with Ultra violet curing ....
It's about 70 percent better and should pass an mot test

Does Autoglass think we are weighed down with money. A much smaller chip on my screen was quoted @ £189.99. Looking at the video I realised it was a few minute job. Autoglass how you you justify such an extortionate rate of pay?

...I'm confused. In Germany, this company is called "Carglass" (Carglass repariert, Carglass tauscht aus), wich is really weird because "Auto" is the German word for car. Why did they do that??

Just had this done, turns out autoglass sub this out. Canny guy but you can still see the chip in this resin they pump in. Im very skeptical that jt will last the lifetime repair. Would rather have a replacement windscreen
But what if the glass breaks again, then it will start all over again with a new repair. Just any suggestions.

Based on my experience, avoid AUTO GLASS if not required by your insurer, they use aftermarket windscreen glass and not even following the OEM installation standard. My car's windscreen got reolaced by them, and not even fit well, seems like the windscreen was installed too high and the weather strip is now riding on the edge of the roof. Called complaint team and they sent a techinician who told me to find a car with the same manufacturing year and series and show him what it should look like without trusting the previous photos of my car. In other words, they do not know what should be done and therefore asked customers to find out the solution!

Just a heads up you can buy a windscreen repair kit for 10 euro. Super easy to use no need to waste your money with this company for a job you can easily do yourself.
Think twice before booking with Auto glass, some, not all of them not so reliable, I had an unpleasant experience 🤨

Its expensive but Luckily my insurance Aviva and a few others offer it cheaper i only have to pay 10 quid to get it done massive saving for sure
How is it a scandalous price if your windshield It's top 5 for safety features just that little chip alone can be very dangerous in a roll over people are cheap and don't want to pay nothing haha

I just had mine done and you can still see the chip in the glass. Is this normal? I was under the impression that the chips would dissappear like they do in the advert. The technician said that the glass is strong and the only way to not see the chip is to replace the windscreen
They don't do the job how it should be done because the want to make more money by telling costumers to replace the windscreen this is why !
A repair isn't cosmetic its structural you will always see the chip created due to the lamination. The idea is to get the strength back into the glass

One thought, I thought you wasn’t aloud to repair the window screen in section A. It would be a replacement, yes I know it’s a advert but still alittle false advertising there.
You can repair a chip in section A that's is no bigger than 10mm as it will fail it's MOT otherwise. Sections B, C, and D vary is size between 10 and 50mm.
I'm a smart repairer that repairs windscreens also. I don't work for Autoglass, but believe they want you to replace a windscreen rather than repair it as it's more money for them.

You guys messed up my Range Rover sport, the window was chipped and it still looked chipped once you guys finished! Should of told me we can’t do this job! Went to landrover paid £900 got a new windscreen

the tech should have made you aware that the screen is already broken, thats why he was there. if he cant repair it he should have booked a new screen for you through your insurance. It is your fault you paid 900 pounds, not his

Because it literally 'Screens' the on rushing air (and Bugs/flies etc) from hitting you in the face. Maybe you'd understand 'Windshield' better ?
