Jongrumps exists at the height of the era where everyone on the internet was a pseudo intellectual who believed that they knew everything about game design and could easily say that a game was good or bad because ~reasons~ There are times where it’s quaint and nostalgic but I’m gonna be honest there’s some times in this series where it gets pretty insufferable
are you kidding me you absolute dingleberry? if anything it's only worse now! at least back then people would give those ~reasons~, now everything actually "sucks" because it gets clicks and no one's allowed to like anything.
Something thats annoying is everyone says this game is the best thing ever but nobody has explained why. Watching this game I don't understand what is so good about it
@@gregorydavis9784Which means... What? It's the best game ever because the game design is perfect? That doesn't make sense. What makes it perfect? How is it perfect?
Just a few off the top of my head; the controls are very tight and yoshi moves exactly the way you’d expect when you push a button or stop (this is what Jon means when he says “plastic”, you start and stop on a dime). the level design is built around exploration but it’s not necessary to beat the game, you can run right through to the end without getting a single red coin or flower if you don’t want to. On top of that, there’s always something new. Not every level has something that changes the way you play the game entirely but there’s enough curveballs to keep the game interesting throughout. The soundtrack, sprites and art style are some of the best looking on the snes (this one is subjective but whatever)
Level design is just so fun IMO. It's a game that starts slow but ends as a high speed precision platformer that's hard as fuck to 100% but feels so rewarding because the controls are super precise and the gameplay is constantly creative. New ideas every level, plus a new enemy introduced in every level with like 2 exceptions IIRC.

easily one of the best Super Nintendo games

he will when he needs something new to monetize

It's funny how they just randomly stopped playing some of these games.
it’s because they had time, damn it. they’d come back to those games someday because we all thought there was time :(

The Donkey Kong Country Jongrumps series makes me want to bash my head into the floor sometimes because of this.
