    thanks for giving me that push when I was feeling down about all the money I spent on my shoulder rig. sometimes right just feels normal, and that can be scary when you've set expectations too high or are waiting for a "you did it!" sign or consequence. conversely, wrong feels wrong haha, so you definitely know when you've fucked up!
    Thanks for making this video, and for your consistency :)

    Don't you find that using a monitor as apposed to an EVF, shake can go unnoticed when shooting?

    Thanks for the tips! I am struggling to find the perfect setup for a single camera man who just do volunteer works for the local, but I am also passionate about improving my camera work and editing skills. I guess after watching your video, there is really no perfect setup. I thought a gimbal was the perfect setup, but it seems like more of a hassle during local events and having to swap out lens. Maybe a shoulder rig?

      A monopod with ball joint and foldable mini tripod foot. Fairly cheap, quick to setup, easy to transport - abs units extend to 2m or more.

    I would of just added a little bit more head room for your video, however great lighting from subtle light to dark changes and detail for HD and I agree with the man cam style haha
    Thanks for your time in creating this =D

    Maybe give some credit to the French New Wave. 'Breathless' from 1960 was Way ahead of the French Connection... Ironically...

    Hey man. I've been wanting to build a shoulder rig but then I thought of an issue with it. How do you control Iris and Record start/stop when is on your shoulder like with a DSLR or Blackmagic? I know it can be done with a grip extension with c300 but not sure how to do otherwise

      With my xt3 I lock the shutter to 1/50, set the iso to what I want and lock it then I adjust exposure with the lens or an ND

    Are electronic gimbals not practical on set?

    • @Noojtxeeg
      @Noojtxeeg 5 лет назад +3

      Gimbals provide a very artificial look to the stabilization, which is very smooth, but might not be a look that is desired.

      Gimbal makes the movement robotic rather than a smooth natural handheld. Yes, it is possible to "fake" a handheld look with gimbal but no matter how you do it, the camera movement will be very robotic and unnatural (compared to real handheld) since it is using electronic motors to stabilize your shots.

      A couple of things. Typical prosumer cantilever style gimbals do not work with heavier cameras. The form factor is just off. I sold my crane 3s for this reason. Also electronic gimbal imagery is very robotic. Fine for short clip length but it starts to show on any shot of length. More suited to music videos and RUclips vids not films. Steadicam systems whilst older tech are much more organic looking (think “there will be blood”). Also they can lift big Hollywood rigs. When your budget is millions rental costs and crew to work a dolly/crane/proper Steadicam is a fraction.
