      The Sabols were the single most important men in the history of the NFL after Halas.
      Every single image, memory, any of have, and will pass on to our grandchilden is thanks to NFL Films.
      The reason players got nominated to Canton is because of NFL films.
      If the Sabols took a liking to your image, you made it.

    I love the prediction segment. Two veteran NFL football players turned announcers, and if they had a different opinion on a game, they just respected each other's opinion and moved on to the next pick. Today it would be obnoxious ESPN "take artists" like Screamin' A Smith or Skip Brainless yelling at each other because MUST HAVE CONFLICT FOR TV.

      Everyone used to beat the crap out of the Pats back then and for many years to come. That 1970 team was one of the worst. The next season, they drafted Jim Plunkett, moved to a new stadium in Foxborough and went 6-8. It was almost like having a real professional football team.

    Here we are 50 years later and on this fine weekend there is one identical matchup, NY Jets VS. Buffalo Bills, in NYC, 50 years later to the day. In 1970 it was at Shea Stadium, in 2020 it is at Metlife Stadium. It would be fun to use the time tunnel and have each 2020 team play against the 1970 team. The 1970 Bills might actually have a chance against the 2020 Jets.

      Keep in mind this is 1970. The deep pass was a major weapon in the late 60's. So to combat this many defenses went full zone coverages. This forced offenses to drive with alternate go-to receivers. Checkdowns became the norm. This opened the door the best response to the Zone. Running the Ball. The running game exploded in the 1970's. Naturally scoring went down. This compelled the league to liberate the passing game. 1978 saw many rule changes that helped the pass.

    You would think the NFL would try to ban all media sources from showing these highlights. I mean, it illustrates just how much worse todays' game is. Not saying the players today aren't bigger, or faster, or can't bench press more, or put up better measurables in a combine, or make more money. It's just that the game is so much worse. I won't go into the reasons because this is RUclips, no one came here to read a book. And that's pretty much what it would take.

    Anybody know why KC traded mike Garrett to SD?? In 70 only a few short months after the supe IV win?? Garrett scored on the "65 toss power trap" play late in the 1st half..

      Surprised to see Garrett only rushed for a career 5400+ yds in 8 years, despite being a Heisman winner. Maybe he just wanted to move back to So Cal.

    Football highlights were so much better then... im trying to put my finger on why... nowadays, its too short-attention-span... 6 hits in 2 seconds, you dont know what you just watched, and its like an MTV video... the old music was better for football, and the slow motion was amazing...why the hell dont they use slow motion in highlights now.

    How can beating a team not even from your own division(Kansas City) be considered the "Most important" game your team(Dallas)'s history(LOL)?

    • @jstube36
      @jstube36  4 года назад +1

      In those days the Cowboys had a mixed record against the top teams. Even that season they got trounced by the Vikings and humiliated by the Cardinals. So playing against the World Champion Chiefs in KC and prevailing proved a benchmark. Of course that year the Cowboys did reach that next level. Even going toe -toe against the Colts in SB V. This shows that yes they can play at a top level. And of course they put everything together in 1971 and RAN OVER Miami 24-3 in SB VI. And of course we know what how America's Team would fare during the rest of the 1970's. How Bout My Dallas Cowboys.

    • @jackmessick2869

      Dallas was first nicknamed "Next Year's Champions" because they had the reputation of not able to win the big one. They lost both NFL championship games that sent the Packers to the first two Super Bowls in the last seconds, then choked the next two years against the Cleveland Browns in the playoffs. Next, they will lose Superbowl V against the Colts in this season.

      @@jackmessick2869 The years from 1966 through 1970. These were growing pains for the Cowboys. The players had begun to buy into Tom Landry's system. But it can be said that he over-complicated things. The teams the Cowboys lost to(Packers, Browns and the Colts) were rich in fundementals and knew how to exploit weaknesses. Tom realized he had to make adjustments. So he changed his philosophy to a more run-heavy attack. I think this led to his decision to make Roger(a running QB) the starter in 1971. And what a decision that was. The running game ran for over 250 yards in Super Bowl VI against Miami.

    • @3243_
      @3243_ 2 года назад

      Partly because 1970 was the year that the NFL and AFL finally completed their merger, and the teams from the two leagues could finally play each other in the regular season. And the Chiefs had been the Dallas Texans from 1960-62, competing with the NFL's Cowboys for the attention (and attendance) of the area's football fans.
