Hi Andy, this is my favorite Karmann Ghia vid! And as you said - the smell, the sound, the design - same I feel driving my 67 cab. Best for me - washing that body by hand!
Maye if mine travelled all the way from NZ to buy one of these. We would cruise around Sydney and it was a blast. Such a cool car. And the noise it makes is unforgettable
I share the love of the car. It is the only VW I really really wanted to own, even when I was a kid back in the late 60's. I like beetles but the Ghia is the one I want to own and drive.
The 60’ style was the best overall look. Looks great lowered. I’ve owned a 72’ all original matching numbers for 30+years. Two prior owners. Drive only during no rain or snow months. Love the tactile resonance when it’s first fired up, very solid well balanced ride. I do regular valve adjustment etc. Amzoil synthetic oil. During an Italian tune up run on the freeway it begins to hunker down at around 70mph and continues to lower itself as I move to 90mph because of the single torsion bar suspension and aero body. Incredibly engineered and styled, proof it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Air cooled and manual make you one with the machine in such an unassuming manner. Nice find you’ve found.
Your Karman Gaia looks amazing and sounds great to drive. I used to drive a 914 air called car with the classic 911 Porsche rims, but now in California it’s not a joy to drive, I have a new beetle automatic, sometimes when you’re on the freeway it turns into a parking lot in Los Angeles, California!
I’m craving to drive my 1969 red Karmann Ghia, which has been under restoration for the past 3 years. I’m sure it will be worth waiting for it. It has the same set of wheels as yours, but to make justice to the sportive design now the engine is 1900 cc and have two carburetors.
Nice KG. I still have mine, a 66 which I have had for thirty years? Bought for a song but it has rust issues in floor pan. Is your side mirror period correct? I just learned about low-light KG today, after reading about said term on Bring a Trailer.
I drive a 1969 convertible Karmann Ghia. I love driving it. It’s my everyday driver.
Great video! I feel the same driving my 61 Ghia:-)

Great vid and gorgeous KG. I own a '69 KG and love everything about it. I enjoy driving it more than my newer vehicle. Keep dubbin'!
Agreed. If I sold mine, I would just have to get another one.
Thank you Andy for sharing super cool and your so funny it is a non threat car and you said I can probably be approached !

The only things I don’t like are your window seals without chrome trims 😬 these seals always gives the ghias the cheap resto look🤗
Nice KG.

Wonder if he still has it ?
I love this .. who is it you bought it off?
The original owner was Fay Cull, she rocked this thing for almost six decades.
Amazing car! Beautiful color! Anyone knows the paint code?
Scary? 😏
Hi, are you referring to Andy's comments about him looking scary?
