I had a bad experience several years ago when I went in for a trim only. The lady I normally went to was not who I was scheduled with. When I made the appointment to see my regular stylist, that’s who I was told I’d be seeing, but when I got to my appointment she was working on another client and I was told I’d be seeing a different stylist. I should’ve just said no and scheduled something for another day with my regular stylist, but I had been going to this salon for a few years and had to see a different stylist one other time and she was good so I thought I’d be ok this time. My regular stylist has curly hair similar to mine and she always did a great job cutting my hair. That hasn’t always been the case for me throughout the years. Well, the stylist I saw this day did not listen to me or know how to cut my hair correctly. My hair was long (a couple inches above my waistline) and I only wanted a trim. I told her a trim was all I needed and that should only be about an inch at the most since I got trims regularly and I didn’t color my hair or use any heat (blow dryers or curling or straightening irons) on it. My hair was very healthy and was only ever trimmed. I had wore my glasses (should’ve worn my contacts) and can’t see clearly without the correction, so when she first started to cut, I wasn’t able to see how much she was chopping off. As she continued to chop at my hair, I felt like it was a lot more coming off than just a trim. My regular stylist was at her station just a little distance from us and she could see what was happening. She asked me if I was there for a trim and I said yes. She looked at the other stylist and she shook her head at her. I don’t know what that was suppose to mean, but at this point the back of my hair was being chopped to sit at shoulder length when wet, with a lot of layers in it. I didn’t know what to do. The owner of the salon didn’t step in or anything. I ended up with a weird short haircut in the end. I’ve never cried over a haircut, but I did that day. My husband was shocked when I got home. Everyone I know was shocked. I’m fortunate it wasn’t worse. I didn’t go back to that salon after that.

Tips are always completly optional and up to you! I would say 15% - 20% is very gracious and anything above is amazing too!🩷
