Turtles get an infection of some type that makes them hold air so they can’t submerge. That’s one reason why it had so many barnacles on it. If anyone rescues a turtle and it doesn’t submerge, take it to a sea life refuge or call them to pick it up. Otherwise, they will eventually die if not treated by starving.

While this person definitely helped, you have to remember they can also feel things on their shell. So if you used an ice pick, it felt every last bit of it
They can feel things in their shells like we can through our fingernails or toenails. It doesn't hurt to have something taken off the top of them. Usually we just get a sense of pressure. They wouldn't feel pain unless you punctured the shells outer layers, so you'd have to be really stupid to go ice picking a turtle like that. What this man did probably didn't cause any pain, even if the turtle was a little uncomfortable with the process. Bet he's more comfortable not being drowned by the weight of those barnacles and the freeloading crab.

@@aestheticman2662 Unfortunately the turtle very likely died a few days after this video. the fact the turtle isn't able to dive means something else is going on as barnacles won't cause that, and yes they can get an infection and die just because its salt water doesn't mean they can't its not clean salt water from your house its water filled with fish poo and dead things and tons of bacteria
Y’all noooooo😭 speaking as someone who works at an aquarium that does extensive sea turtle rescue and rehab: PLEASE do not try to remove barnacles and growths like this yourself! This turtle needs to be brought to a medical center. The reason those growths are there is likely something far more dangerous that needs to be addressed. Healthy turtles do not get this level of growth on their shells. So if you see something like this, it’s a sign that this turtle is unwell and has been sick for a while. Scraping off the growths doesn’t solve the underlying issue. Also, doing so without any tools or pain medication can be extremely painful and stressful for the turtle. Often with this level of growth, barnacles will have borrowed through the turtle’s shell into live tissue. And just ripping them off like this without the expertise of a medical professional can do more harm than good. Not to mention that it is WAY stressful and not what the turtle needs most. Imagine if you had a the stomach flu or food poisoning and someone decided to “help” you by first detangling your hair, popping pimples, and exfoliating you when what you really need is fluids and someone to handle you very gently. It’s focusing on the wrong problem first and can worsen the underlying condition. TLDR: If you see a turtle like this, please don’t try to remove any barnacles yourself and just put it back. A turtle this sick needs medical attention from professionals.
I was looking for this type of comment. At least this is not the type of video where barnacles were intentionally glued on and then pried off. I have seen too many of those. Poor turtle. :(

love this, also remembering the amount of hilarious comments from the voiceover video lol (edit-i made a mistake oop)
Oh precious little one, thank you for helping him. This makes me sad that this happens.
When she sees you, she will thank you with all her heart and will never forget it. It is very kind of you to help her and take care of her ❤❤❤
Pobre tortuga bebe llena su casita de parasitos perezosos colgada de ella y por eso no se podia mover por el peso. Gracias al buzo la ayudo a liberarse de todos los zánganos que colgaban de ella. 👍❤Mil gracias hermoso buzo ❤😮

They were literally sucking the life out of this poor turtle. God put you in each other's paths to save this baby turtle. May God bless you, and thank you. 🙏🏽♥️
Well if you wanna bring God into this then let's go ahead and pray for all the living creatures that this man just removed from their home🎉. Oh they weren't cute so their suffering doesn't mean as much as 1 turtle. Sounds like you're playing God now. Lil blasphemous if you ask me 🤷♂️
Just a friendly reminder that God gives children leukaemia
God sent you as the poor turtle 's saviour
God bless this man. Good deeds do not go unnoticed!
They are NEVER rewarded. Only evil survives and thrives.
Merci ❤❤❤
@@DeadlyChinchilla yes it does, they can feel their shell the same way we feel our skin, it contains nerve endings.
@@zackywacky2657 The nerve endings are not on the outermost layers. They're underneath the outer scute. So still really shallow, they can feel pain from damage for sure, but again, WHY would you ice pick a turtle?
Were they leeching anything from the poor turtle or just making it hard for him to move? Poor thing.
@@AubLaw they don’t leach, they just overall grow

@@sthlmsSouth Pesimistic much??
@@MelindaMae138 nah, realistic much. People no longer feel satisfied by knowing för them self what they did or achieved. They must share it with strangers to get confirmation, it’s completely sad and a part of humans turning into mindslaves
@@sthlmsSouth I don't think it was a turtle hired to act in the video and I see the likes go to some type of promotion of marine preservation. It doesn't bother me.

Crab: Wtf
Good job ❤
If you see a turtle with barnacles be very careful and dont try to take them off unless they're already loose, trying to take them off can peel the shell.
Whats the alternative. Leave it to die??
@@jayasea4027 get veterinary services to come help it
@@jayasea4027 most turtles have barnacles attached to them, I ya really not that harmful. But if you really want to make a change, contact a Marine biologist or people who can Actually help. Turtles can feel pain in their shells and ripping the barnacles off would have put it through in imaginable pain.
I’m not criticizing you though, it’s not exactly we’ll know information. Just wanted to make you educated.
@@AidensFeets Apparently, they just feel vibrations from their shell. So you really don't have to worry so much.

@M2 Infection? Very unlikely; salt in the ocean water certainly heals the wounds in a very short time (from my many experiences)
And, why would one create a scene just to make a short 📷 while there are more than enough topics, events, creatures etc. in nature? Nonsense!
@@aestheticman2662 Unfortunately the turtle very likely died a few days after this video. the fact the turtle isn't able to dive means something else is going on as barnacles won't cause that, and yes they can get an infection and die just because its salt water doesn't mean they can't its not clean salt water from your house its water filled with fish poo and dead things and tons of bacteria
turtles are so awesome, glad this dude came along and helped it so wonderful awww

It may sound cruel, but in this case, isn't it better to just let nature take its course?
But if it`s so bad and stressful why is the turtle swimmkng away like the most happiest and healthiest?
Better to do something then nothing. You rather him put him back in the water in the condition the turtles in. At least now he's got a fighting chance where as if he would of left him he would of surely died. Yes your right he should of taken him to a hospital where they probably would of euthanized it
I thought it looked to sick to be released
