could you power this mic by plugging it into a USB adapter that is plugged into a power strip or could that fry it's circuits? I currently power it by plugging it into a PC USB port but I was wondering about the power strip possibility
I wouldn't plug the Yeti into a power strip (assuming it has 5V USB outlets). It needs to be connected to a PC port on your PC to get power but also for the audio from the mic to go to the PC and for the PC audio to go to the Yeti (and be heard through the headphones. I assume you're asking because you're running out of USB ports on your PC. If that's the case, you can get a USB3 Hub, plug that into your PC and then plug the Yeti into one of the USB-A connectors on the Hub. You can also plug an external power source into the Hub from either an AC adapter, a 5VUSB output on a power outlet, or even a power bank. I hope that helps.
@@DIYVideoStudio Thanks so much. I was previously plugging it into a USB hub and it worked fine if I only wanted to use the mic. But when an audio interface is plugged into the same hub, it seems to override the audio of the Yeti, when recording. I can continue to use the nearby PC's USB port or I could get a separate hub to plug the Yeti into and hopefully not run into the conflict with the interface.
@@57RickH You should be able to set the input and outputs in your PC's sound settings. Even with the audio interface plugged in, you should be able to change the input and output from the interface to the Yeti. Type "sound" in the windows search bar and you'll probably get the sound mixer come up. Then change the Output device and Input device from your audio interface to Blue Yeti Stereo Microphone. You'll then be able to record from the Yeti and plug your headphones into the Yeti to monitor yourself and hear the computer sound.
Thank you for the suggestion. Is that specifically for a Blue Yeti (I do have a video that shows how it's possible to link a Yeti through an audio interface)?
Please may you link the foam thing you bought to raise the mic off the desktop? I'm trying to find one and struggling. Thanks.
I've added the foam material to the video description but here's the link Fish Tank Filter Foam: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184968913403
