  • @acmulhern
    @acmulhern 8 лет назад +27

    This is fantastic! Because icing sugar just tastes old so quickly, so I always ever buy it fresh if I need it in a recipe, which can be a real drag. Also, there is less selection in the types of icing sugar, such as fair trade or organic, so this makes me super happy, to know that I can make my own from now on 😊

    This actually surprised me a lot. I recently used icing sugar made with this recipe to make frosting and to my absolute shock, the buttercream had the right consistency for the first time in years. it's usually 27 ℃ where I live and my frosting always melts. this recipe saved it ☺️

    INGREDIENTS:
    1 cup of granulated sugar (white sugar)
    1 tablespoon of cornstarch
    and finally blend away!
    She doesn’t say the proportions directly but she shows them. I’m a bit of a baker so I recognize the ones she’s using.

    I have been doing this for a while because I can't have the cornstarch in normal powdered sugar. I use a coffee grinder for mine because it was cheap and i have found doing this in others things tend to wear them out if you do it often. @wnmaisarah 8 лет назад +1

      well for me I just cut the pumpkin in half and bake them for a good 45 mins for a medium sized pumpkin. once its cooked, you can peel off its skin in a breeze. then blend to puree them

    I tried doing homemade powder sugar before, but I think my problem was not knowing how long to do it for and I think I didn't do it long enough. My Ninja Mini Food Processor is the best thing I have to do this in, especially I only need to do small batches. I don't use it that often, so doing it homemade and in small batches makes more sense.

      Sounds really interesting. But isn't brown sugar really moist? Would that affect it?

    I tried this a few months ago with my mini food processor and it broke. :( is this because I didn't put enough granulated sugar or because I omitted the cornstarch?

      Yes lily, that is exactly the reason, In the US and Europe we are really lucky, we can get what we need easily, this is not true of every country :)
