I'm gonna say it, you could have bought two rtr 2wd Slash's for $229 each and have something with a huge parts availability and future upgrade ability to 60+ mph and they are actually good enough to race on major tracks in the spec Slash class straight out of the box. Or even a pair of 1/16 scale 4wd Slash's for $199 each
I don't know where he got $600 for a slash, the 2wd is $200 - $250 with everything but AA batteries, the 4wd is $300 - $350 with everything but AA batteries
While I have nothing against budget rc cars if it get new people in to the hobby great. But do keep in mind if you break something on your 100 temu rc car you'll most likely be buying another 100 rc car where as you break an arm on your $239 slash 2wd. Your local hobby shop and $20 bucks later your back in business. Just food for thought. That being said welocome to an amazing hobby.
Not very many $20 parts for a slash. Most are around $5 to $10 just like even hobby grade R/C cars! The kits are expensive but replacement parts are cheap! Back in the day I had lapped the field twice 15 minutes into the main and broke a $0.15 part. Out of the race for such a cheap part but it was my fault... I wrecked!

yep, took me 4 hours my first time back in 1986. ( could build one in about an hour after that ) I still have a RC-10T from the 90's and a nitro RC-10GT from the mid 90's.
All the antique RC cars I got at garage sales. At least one of them is a original with the box and probably worth way more than I paid for it. Another one is is a all wheel drive version but I broke the front chain drive eventually. They both have the oil filled shocks and aluminum frame tub setup. They probably were just sorta old when I first got them, have to look them up again to remember what they are but they were pretty fast and fun to play with.
is the 4wd with chain a Kyosho Optima ? I had one of those back in 1988. The only hobby grade 4wd I can think of with a chain. Most were shafts and on road were belts.
@@batsonelectronics It's in the shed and it's pink, I don't remember the brand but pretty sure it was chain drive. That was close to when I got it. Take 'em to the outdoor skatepark/dirt track like they do here in Aurora. 8:15 reminds me of my big brothers 'sidewinder' which he never let me drive 😂 Great value, slave made. Don't forget the last part
You still lost man all you did was prove we should not waste $$ or time with any of this junk..... Just take the Traxxas or arrma next time. Arrma Typhon is like 300$ new it's brushless and runs on 3slipo and is actually fast.
Where did you get that insane $600 price from?? A BL-2S Slash is 329.95, a VXL $399.95 both brushless and 4x4… Remember you get what you pay for and parts availability is a big deal..
My Traxxas broke 3 times! I have 4 of these cheap drive brushless cars and haven’t broken one yet! Send it to the moon and doesn’t break!! Parts and upgrades are very easy to get! My main trucks are Arrma 8-12s…. Temu is a win on these for sure
"I KNOW HOW TO USE A POCKET KNIFE JOHN ROSS!" has JR getting scolded by an adult vibes that i absolutely love! You got TOLD John Ross! Now go to your room! No dessert for you tonight!
I've tried several of these "Cheaper" RC cars over the years not from Temu but they are usually pretty fast but man they do not last, the differentials though that DRIVE one looks like a direct clone of a redcat... that might be worth playing with it. But if you go into it knowing most is throw away after a few hours they are fun.
Old school late 1980's RC guy here. I've been out of the scene forever, but back in the day it was Tamiya, Kyosho, Losi and Associated Electric RC-10's. Traxxas was considered the cheap brand. What ever happened to these other companies?
They all still exist but are owned by horizon hobbies now losi and associated. Kiosho is it's own company still but Traxxas came along way. But still not top hobby grade racing gear.
Isn't it the XO-1, the 4wheel drive street car that was the first of their offerings to go 100mph? The axles are plastic, so mip axles or the Traxxas upgrade kit. "I bet it's just the rear axles that break" the right rear, because mine always did, and the VXL esc is a bad, because it's only 60amps and the motors are 4pole 3500kv 35mm x 60mm cans, they need more juice like 80amps minimum, but 100 to 120amps is great. How you gear them also has a effect on your speed and torque.
JJRC makes some of the toughest RCs on earth. My Q130 lasted FOREVER before I toasted both the ESC and motor on 3S in water. Now it's a parts car lol but it was amazing how terrible I drove (full throttle into a cinder block, wrapped around a pole at full speed, etc) and it never actually broke till I fried it! (User error lmao)
You didnt look hard enough if youre using a $600 Slash as your baseline for rc car pricing. For $200 you can get a Rustler or Bandit that will outlast all of those Temu turds and have unlimited upgrade and part replacement options
I have to ask this! - "your sister" - is she Eric's wife Scot's mother or is she the sister with the white Toyota Station Wagon? If my memory serves me right I'd say it was the sister with the station wagon. It's been a while though!
Interesting - I think for a lot of people to "get in to RC" these are a great option - if you become a RC junkie then it's not a waste if you don't then you're not out several hundred bucks....
Traxxas may be reaching out, because they suck like that. They harass RC channels and tell them they will sue them if they use their names without a Traxxas vehicle in the video, just be aware it's possible
Awful junk. Just listen to the gears crunch away. Any real hobby grade rc makes this seem terrible. After they are all broken in a month, buy something better. Even the "tools" last 2 screws, and strip. The stainless bolts have the hex off center on some. Temu sends out leftovers nobody else can sell.
I'd prefer to never see or hear about Temu ever again. The ads are always in my face on every single platform despite never using it. Very annoying and just makes me want to continue never using it.
Have you ever used it tho? I’ve honestly been impressed with not only receiving mostly exactly what I ordered but the quality itself has not been terrible. I even got an entire touchscreen car radio system with backup camera for $12 no shipping fee. It’s still Chinese junk and anything with actual purpose will be American made or atleast from an “American” brand. But Temu definitely has its place for cheap Chinese crap
I paid $200 for a battery powered rc car in 1979 or 80. I'm not sure what the inflation calculator would translate that to in today's dollars but I'm guessing a bunch. It was tough and very fast though.
