Does giving blood skew your A1C score to be lower that it would be had you not given blood? i.e. biasing the A1C test results which measures the percentage of hemoglobin proteins in your blood that are coated with sugar (glycated). The A1 C test works because Red blood cells only live for ~ 90 days. The test result estimates the average glucose for the last ~ 90 days. Red blood cells take 4 to 6 weeks to replenish. So.... If you draw blood for your A1C test say 4 weeks after you gave blood, you might expect to have a larger proportion of fresh red cells from the red cell regeneration/replacement process in response to the blood giving. If blood giving does bias A1C test result, can the bias be minimized by say having the A1C test done at least 5 months after giving blood. This would ensure that the blood cells regenerated in response to blood letting will have mostly died off. Can an expert in hematology comment on this?
Yes, donating blood will lower your A1C over time. I had two A1C tests: one before donating and one right after donating. My A1C went down 0.1 and this was the day after donating! I am trying to get this message out but a lot of people don't want to hear it. For me, I was stuck on the idea - why do we have too much blood? But then I got the answer. When we were running around outside we were infected with parasites / had ticks, etc. They all caused us to lose blood without ever knowing it. So thanks to modern medicine we have too much blood. Over time our bodies will adjust but right now we need to get rid of blood to be healthy.
I don’t think we have too much blood. Especially women who already lose blood monthly with menstrual cycle. I think some people, especially some men may have excess iron, cholesterol, etc. due to many factors.
@@nikk5002 it’s not that there is too much blood since the body regulates the actual total volume of blood in the body. But the point is that some of that blood used to be taken out of our body by natural means of the blood sucking insects etc and now in more modern times those issues are not as prevalent in society so people are not getting that blood being removed which means the body doesn’t get as much opportunity to create new blood to fill the void of what was taken out since it maintains a relatively specific amount in the body. So if those toxins in the blood are not being removed by any means then those toxins continue to stack thus giving more health issues in the long run. Makes sense to me.

i have always tried to understand how people start smoking and how it becomes addictive....I believe you have more to live for ..your family , friends and blood recipients ....... make the world a clean place by not smoking....I had one puff as a teenager and the heat that came out from the cigarette made me feel dirty..I have never tried the damn ciggy anymore....

No body actually knows where blood donations go. ALL WE KNOW IS WHAT THEY TELL US!
Folks you can feel assured and a better way to serve others for sure is by keeping your blood and then donate to your own family, friends and loved ones if and when a need arises.
That's the same helping others, especially in a time of crisis that's better than you and yours not having any @ that time.....take care of your own ..very few and or nobody else cares to.......ijs
Usually for people who need blood for chemo treatment.
I do worry they are being sold to China to engineer the next bio weapon.
Or major haemorrage protocol including childbirth.
Quit interrupting
I should I just left the donation center I? Feel fantastic. It's the first time i've ever donated but it won't be the last
News anchor has a bad habit of interrupting guests while they speak. Very infuriating
Amazing 🤩
Giving my excessive iron to other people, that's called Altruism.... 🙄🙄🙄
vampires will be happy..😁
I love how many times he says his book title. He's really selling it! 😂

I'll just wait til I get a bloody nose and let it run a bit
He is wrong! The best part of donating blood is the unlimited Milo afterwards. 😂😂😂
