Snake Eye bombs in War Thunder are here! These US bombs have air brakes that slow the bomb down making it a little more safe to drop at close range and from low level flight.
For some reason I decided to try to do this at 10.0 using the F-4C Phantom and the A-6 Intruder. What follows is one of the most difficult challenges I've ever done in War Thunder.
SAM's, AAM's and SPAA are difficult to avoid at low level and even small arms and large caliber cannons are a serious threat since you're quite an easy target at that altitude.
I'll give this a try again tomorrow at a lower tier! :)

Shoulda gone with an NC2 MX-5. Lighter and shorter than the Honda with 99% the same suspension and bracing setup as the newest ND Miata. Also wouldnt have cost you an arm and a leg for even a shoddy S2K. Find a super high mileage folding hardtop miata and slap a spicy NA K20a hooked to a ZF8 from an Audi and you have a rocketship for about the same price. Super Bonus Points if you can make the Miata AWD.

My dad was a f16 crew chief in the first gulf war and apparently one day weapons was loading a snake eye and it opened up it's drag fins on the loading ramp and everyone scattered leaving the pilot in the plane with a live bomb on the ramp. It never detonated but it sure scared him.

Talking about the crew voice, they're AWESOME. I've stopped using what my range finding tells me, when the crew calls out the target, the range they call is a LOT more accurate than what rangefinding tells me in the sniper scope.

@@serkovskyy732 Well, my mains are America, Germany, Britain, I'm fluent in all of those, obviously, and I understand Italian well enough, which I also play, a swedish friend taught me swedish numbers, I've been told not to bother with french, and I mainly ignore the Israeli and Russian tech tree, so I'm pretty damn close to having everything covered.
@@serkovskyy732 Theres is a option in the Game audio to make it only use the voice that your game is set, if your game is set to english your crew will only speak english

Crew will call the names of the most known tanks though

So it's kind of great to hear how they pronounce some names.

Almost all. Israel doesn't, they're still using the old system for crew voices.
Also many nations have alternate voices depending on the actual national origin of the vehicle, the Turkish M60 AMBT in the US tree has Turkish lines, all the Finnish vehicles in the Swedish tree speak Finnish, the Hungarian and Spanish vehicles in the Italian tree speak their respective languages, the Leo2 PL crew speaks Polish.

The F-105 is a lot more fun to use snakeyes with over the F-4C. The chaff pods are kinda helpful and you can go faster on the deck

@@lesterdudley8792as the jet starts to point down a black missile flies across at the top of the screen. Maybe slow down the video, it happens 2 seconds after 12:20 or whatever the time stamp was

Id honestly love to see Odd play Gunner Heat PC. I'm glad War Thunder is adding in the identification of tanks into the game. Now if they can get the way they speak down, that would be amazing

The German voice lines do the same. Really handy for ranging targets if you don't have a range finder or a fully trained crew. Obviously the distance at which the voice lines are said are limited by the max range your crew can rangefind at, but regardless of crew level, their callouts are more accurate than the range readout on screen.

Those explosions would be the second set of bombs you ditched earlier. How I know this: Snakeeyes take forever to hit the ground if dropped from altitude. I tested it by dropping a Snakeeye at conning altitude (roughly 5k meters). The bomb hit the water and exploded a full 5 minutes after it left the rack.
Hey odd can you do a short video on a guide for your control set up for tanks and planes with multiple weapons systems like you used today? Haven't been able to find anything that explains it well
Odd, try using a single rocket pod on vehicles with limited or no flares, weird to say, but they can save lives
Edit: Use them against AAMS or SAMs, this even works on most helis, just need to make sure the exhaust is not pointing the opposite way of the missile... but sometimes could still work... with of course helping if engines are off afterburner

When bringing the F4C, you should bring atleast 2 Aim7Ds to target the drones after bombing and adjust the radar range for better detection

The crew distance callouts on distance are usually about as fast as regular rangefinding without assistances, just some more precisely.

I use the crew voice for rangefinding all the time because it is much quicker and more accurate, i have found though that concerning the crew calling out the vehicle type, at least the swedish crew just like to call anything AA, not always but quite often

F4c is my most dominant aircraft in GRB. I don’t know why, but it’s an exceptional aircraft in that specific scenario. Low level fast runs, and the bomb indicator make it fairly easy to avoid CAS, and the missile options make it pretty good at dealing with enemy air
You can lock aircraft frontally - that’s what the AIM7s are for. Radar guided missiles at 10.0 are a blessing
Can the AJ37 take radar missiles?
Radar missiles are the only niche this thing really has. I've never played it in grb as I have the A-6, but this thing in Air RB is awful. No flares and flying like a bus at the same BR as jets with all aspect missiles/Magics etc and flares is just a joke lol.
Im really struggling with the new physics of the Roland3 missiles, would be nice to see what you think.

parachute bombs are slowed more and sooner than high drag fins, so you see more of a difference with them

You can’t really get side shots with the LAVAD anymore. For some reason gaijin decided to remove about 1/3 of the penetration on the AP. That, along with the ADATS missile nerf, means that the US has no effective top tier SPAA.
So…nerfing the ability to pen tank armor makes the LAV-AD an ineffective SPAA?
Its an SPAA - self-propelled anti air - and it kills aircraft easily. It doesnt need to be able to kill MBTs to kill an aircraft.

Next time you do this make sure to take at least two radar missles because there is so many su25k at this BR that all the flares nothing ever hits unless it's a 9L and even then all the flares it's a prayer

If you didn’t know Odd, they stealth nerfed the LAV AD AP round pen from 93mm to 66mm, so you can no longer side pen TURMs turds. (This is historical sadly, the same round was used on the AV8B’s 25mm and it could only pen 66 mm according to the declassified flight manual.)

Prolly you already know it but in aircraft that they dont have flares byt they have like zuni rockets you can use them as flares and if you shoot them head on to an incoming missile it will detonate the fuse way ahead of you keep it you safe

Iberian Castle is a weird map. The area around the C point is pretty good, but around the A point the map is horrificly terrible.
The american commander isnt the only one who says the names of the scouted tanks, italian commander says it too.
