Great point. But at least at that point, the other guy is thinking and not playing his automatic setups that he's practiced a billion times. If the match evlolves that far, you're making your opponent think, and a lot of people aren't good at thinking (myslef included lol).
You show the Ed manually microdelaying the release or doing it meaty but watching high level Ed’s they instead react to the drive rush startup to release it, and if the opponent jumps they can cancel it into kill rush to punish or keep the corner. With this in mind this defensive option seems quite risky, since if you get hit by the flicker the Ed gets a pretty decent combo while your best outcome is to parry the flicker drag in at which point they’re still +4 but slightly further out.
if he does regular meaty flicker then it will get parry. If he hits me out of DR then I just take the flicker hit and no pull in combo. He doesn't get much off of it unless its a punish counter. Maybe a Level 3 on reaction to regular flicker. Also Ed is -6 on regular flicker.
Unfortunately you still have to deal with the early punch from command dash if you dare to do this.

This move is damn near broken
No you still have to guess. You forgot he can Kill rush early punch and it beats your DR. I do this to players on the with ED.
