What people are forgetting here is that a person may paint sloppy intentionally for the purpose of their piece. Not everything has to be polished. I dare say some things absolutely require the lack of polish to get the message across.
Is there a right way to drag? Some queens contour harsher than others and over draw their lips more... Doesn't mean it's something you shouldn't do... I have a feeling this video just implies lack of polish and lackluster technique is a don't.
I think it's just the theory of this particular style of make-up, do and don't doesn't necessarily mean right and wrong. I think make-up is subjective eventhough it DOES have a theory 😀

I'm not a queen but I found this while looking up makeup tips for hooded eyes. My makeup always turns out kind of muddy and unattractive, and seeing the comparisons between the do and don't sides, i think i know where ive been going wrong! Really happy to have stumbled across this❤
As a queen with twenty-five years of drag under her sequined belt, I must respectfully disagree. Drag is drag. Until RUclips, we older "ladies" had to learn through trial-and-error. That said, it seems a bit absurd to say there are *any* definitive "do's" and "don'ts."
You know i was about to come and say the same thing and iam a baby queen! I feel that for something which is in essence a playing on stereotypes there shouldnt be rules! Its fun at the end of the day and it totally depends on what type of drag too!
I am a baby queen that has watched drag shows and performed in a small handful, but this video was so helpful. The title isn't a "THIS IS HOW YOU DO DRAG MAKEUP!!", so it may not be for someone who is brand new to the art form and is unaware of makeup techniques. However, I have been struggling with my paint and unsure of what I liked about it, and this queen has a final look that I prefer compared to my usual look. If you are brand new to drag, look at other queens who inspire you and watch them! Watch their tutorials to learn!! Drag is an art, and the only way to do it "right" is to have fun!!! Find out what your face shape is and how you can use the space properly. I am inspired by trixie mattel, but her face is built like minecraft steve and I have a tiny diamond face. Her makeup, while impressive and striking, is hard to fit onto my face. Look to queens that have your features, as my face would better fit styles that suit violet chachki or blair st. clair! The most important part of drag is that you are happy with how you look and aren't worrying about what everyone else thinks!
The humor or the sense here is to teach you how to properly do makeup or drag makeup. It's sort of a guide for you. We all have different ways on doing our makeup, wether you feel comfortable that way or that's how you do it, you still need to try doing it flawlessly until you are comfortable with it, and master it.
While I agree that there is no WRONG way, there is ABSOLUTELY a theory for make-up. Maybe poor wording However it's valuable information for those who prefer the sort of beauty make-up shown. 😀
wtf... this is one of the most interesting videos I ever saw... the way you present everything with your mimic really burns into your brain what "DO's" and what "DONT's" are... and the makeup looks gorgeous! Brilliant!! ♥♥
Makeup is subjective and expressive. It's art. Some will be pleased and some will not. Whatever you do, just own it and have a great time bringing people joy.
The Don't side is like: Basically don't even try. They didn't even try to make it decent or realistic, just threw eyeliner and shadow and a ton of contour and said: Don't do that
I think the way she puts her makeup on the DONT is like about technique and application. On the Do part she applies makeup in a way it lasts and perfects. Also gluing her hairline helps on applying different wigs so yes those things are beauty hacks and the video is very didactic for me! Its just a format!
I am confused (woman, late 50ies and never been interested in make up, but want to learn it for my videos now). Can you explain, what the difference between left and right side is?
love your art! oftentimes its hard to understand only showing stuff without text or explaining. Only in your infobox i noticed that you consider lipstick as foundation base, in the video it looked like consealer or smth
This kind of feels like fish vs camp, subtle vs bold drag. This is a good Do's and Don'ts for specifically those who are going for very femme/glamour styles, but the Don'ts side still stands out as a more well executed exaggerated style that would be great for comedic/avante garde drag performers. It's ok to prefer one style over the other, but there's this myth becoming popularised that drag is just about being a man dressed as a pretty and convincing woman when there's really far more to it than that.
I'm straight. Is it weird I find this guy sexual attractive? 😳 Maybe I should experiment...I might be bi or something. I don't know. He's not the first guy in makeup I found attractive
This is a good beauty style two-face makeup instead of one side being normal and the other burned and scared on side is down well the other is done meh.
I'm not a fan that the don't side doesn't have colored contacts while the do side does. Not everyone can support those after all. Also, it's pretty bad to put them on after the make up. You could get some product in and you risk an infection.
Though there aren’t any “wrong “ ways of doing drag. There are definitely better ways of doing your makeup and drag altogether. “Just because your drag is valid doesn’t make it good.”
just a friendly reminder that there are no do's and don'ts of drag other than DO whatever makes you feel fabulous and DON'T forget to be original. I think the 'don't' contour looks better personally. And it all depends on your style, whether you're on stage or just going out, and even whether you'll be seen in person vs. photos & video...
Except there actually are rules to doing drag, and if you go against the definition of it, then obviously, it's incorrect. That's not what's Happening Here given that this is literally just a makeup tutorial
The base looked the same because his beard is barely visible. Honestly if you're a drag queen going to the club at 3 am in front of drunk people, you can prob be more experimental with your makeup as opposed to doing cookie cutter drag
This is wild that you are saying there are Do and Don’ts for Drag. Drag is art and art is subjective. It’s ok for you to say that’s not how you prefer to do your drag, but to put it down and say don’t do this is not a good look. All drag is valid. All drag performers deserve to express themselves with makeup however they feel.
Why is the eyeliner and shadow on the “don’t” just you essentially saying “don’t deliberately put on makeup to the worst of your ability because you have no actual tips for this section of the video” lmao
Actual step 1: be a twink with soft facial features. Be real. For people with stronger features the more subtle make-up oftentimes just won’t work. Edit: not trying to criticise the person in the video, they obviously know what works for them 🫶
Both extremes look nice. Some nights we paint more dramatic or harsh just depends on our mood and what we are performing that night
What people are forgetting here is that a person may paint sloppy intentionally for the purpose of their piece. Not everything has to be polished. I dare say some things absolutely require the lack of polish to get the message across.
Ur joking right.
@@litteralydead215 you def know nothing about drag LOLLL
The “Don’t” side has an innocent look to it. Maybe because of the lack of contact lens but it has its own beauty to it.
Because that's what you look like, and no. It doesn't. lol
Stop being weird

Damn, I probably should've looked at the other posts. Oh well - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.
And from some seemingly unknown young buck too. The audacity, honestly… 😳

Baby queens, especially white ones, need to stop telling people what the “right” anything is. You don’t know.
Don't side: quickly draws on eyeliner aggressively, but it's absolutely perfect
Me who takes 5 minutes to do my eyeliner: : O

Loved watching this it's so therapeutic, love how he does his mannerisms! Cute both in and out of drag ! ❤xxx
Really lovely on both sides, really.
Such lovely artistry. Angelic !
I say no rules when it comes to drag makeup…. Do what makes you happy
But are you actually a drag queen or involved in performance art in that way? Cuz that ain't it hun.
@@aniyahlyszt3531it just doesn’t look nice or is there another reason?
Didn’t nobody ask for all that from a no color non queen
Okay but why am I living for the don’t side more lol 😂 love the “do” side but for some reason I’m also digging the other side more haha.
Here is basically me 3 years ago VS me now 💕💕😜

@Ric Owens: Can I get a gaymen up in here?
THANK YOU
Good quote to remember. “Just because your drag is valid doesn’t mean it’s good.”
Today is Kam-hugh's Birthday. So happy Birthday to this talented and gorgeous babe 💙💙💙💙💙

I definitely think it’s the dos and don’ts for the technique (mainly)
She's Kam Hugh from Drag Race France right?
Beautiful! Thanks for representing the green/hazel eye color! My natural eye color!
The right side is Arantxa Castilla La Mancha.
The Don't side is like: Basically don't even try. They didn't even try to make it decent or realistic, just threw eyeliner and shadow and a ton of contour and said: Don't do that

Both my side's would be don'ts 💓💓💓
I am confused (woman, late 50ies and never been interested in make up, but want to learn it for my videos now). Can you explain, what the difference between left and right side is?
Nope. Go watch more tutorials girl. They everywhere
Oooooooh what did you use for lip sis??? Drop the deets plz💋💄
Omg I love you thank youuuuuuuu; I just watched this beginners tutorial that did all your don’tz! 😂
The “bad” side is better than my drag make up 😢😅
love your art! oftentimes its hard to understand only showing stuff without text or explaining. Only in your infobox i noticed that you consider lipstick as foundation base, in the video it looked like consealer or smth
What brand highlighter is that? It's lovely!!
The Donts are still way better than what I can achieve 😆 🤣
It’s more appropriate to say
Fishy Drag vs Drag Drag
Etonnamment je préfère le côté gauche de Kam (son profil droit), je ne sais pas pourquoi MDR !
Imo both look good to me!
Her/his skin thooo 😍
Show this to trixie😂 haha i love her super dramatic looks tho
Delightful! Hugs from an older cis white dame.

Respectfully all the “donts” work perfectly for Trixie so like… maybe just do what you want and works best for your face?
Which queen was that in the tutorial they didn’t credit the person & I’m curious?
Tremendo like ❤️
Thank you
When you like the "No" side more than the "Yes"
Very beautiful,I like it)))))
Luv these comments 🥺❤️
So DO paint a nice face of makeup DON'T do the exact same techniques but more messy and heavy-handed? Got it.
Kammmm luv yaaa
I want the right side 😁
I like the no side
So don’t do it bad. Do do it correctly 😂 thanks teach 😅
🔥
I'm straight.
Is it weird I find this guy sexual attractive? 😳
Maybe I should experiment...I might be bi or something.
I don't know.
He's not the first guy in makeup I found attractive
You're not straight.
Maybe you like the idea of crossdressing
The Do is good but the eyebrow could have been abit higher to open the eye.
Agreed
So the no side is basically Trixie?
The irony of this video is astounding.
This is a good beauty style two-face makeup instead of one side being normal and the other burned and scared on side is down well the other is done meh.
So basically... Do it neatly without rolling your eyes? Lmao
The dont doesnt look as bad as i expected but i can see why its not the best technique
Dooooooo he can but make up better than me 😅😂😂
The make up is pretty but.. the show is good?
still bith side is beautiful..
I would say this video is tilted more towards glamor queens, alot of classic queens actually prefer the dont side
Hermoso

Drag might be an art, but the dont side is definitely wrong when it comes to make up application so...
So the "don't" just means it's badly done? BTW, I liked the don't better hahahahaha
Тоже ищете русские комы???!)
Да)
The Do side has so much stereotypically "wrong" with it that I can't tell if this was meant to be a parody or not.
Basically "don't do your make-up sloppily"
So in every video when the powder comes you guys just blow it up to the camera wasting it huh
Why is the eyeliner and shadow on the “don’t” just you essentially saying “don’t deliberately put on makeup to the worst of your ability because you have no actual tips for this section of the video” lmao
SPEAK!
Neither side looks good…..
meh
Please stop using apostrophes randomly
Without dialogue there isn’t much benefit to this video….
Lemme just say- drag doesn’t need to be “pretty” the whole point is gender bending beauty standard bending expression.
God will have WRATH upon All who does blasphemous acts!! Repent!!
