I purchased a GCL summit reserve after having looked at several vehicles, including Audis and Jags. The Jeep is nicer than most luxury vehicles. The infrared is an awesome safety feature and the McIntosh sound system is beyond amazing!🙌🏻
Chrysler made product at the end of the day...Worst reliability and crash test ratings in the industry.. Telluride crashes like a tank and uses high strength steel like Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus etc while Chrysler uses cheaper materials and has some worst test crash ratings lol The most important component of luxury vehicles is protecting their passengers in a crash from fatality (family, kids etc)... The Grand Cherokee fails big time... Hey but it looks good..
I don't see this being compared to the Telluride or Highlander anymore, Jeep has stepped it up to the Acura/Lexus luxury category. I think Jeep has done a wonderful job with this one. As an everyday driver the 3.6 L should be adequate. Good camera work Lori.
Maybe Acura and Infiniti, still has a little further to go to reach Lexus though fit and finish wise
Unfortunately not. Telluride will have a refresh next year with digital dash and wireless Android apple car play. Telluride offers ambient lighting and second row cooled seats. According to car confections testing, telluride is also quieter inside which what luxury suv buyers care. 67 db on GCL vs 63 decibels on telluride. Kia stepped up the game too far for jeep to keep up at this point. It’s even cheaper and offers unbeatable warranty. It’s hard to beat. This is coming from a GC overland owner who had his suv in the shop for leaking air suspension, rattles, and bulging dash board issues. I also didn’t like the noise of the V6 pentastar engine. It was very noisy.
@@al151 don’t get me wrong, the Telluride is a top notch SUV and I have driving one. Best bang for the dollar. 54k all in. The reason why I think the GCL is up the luxury brands is the price point and finishes. The OVERLAND version here in Canada is 70k plus taxes. They are aiming high and might actually meet their mark. Very sorry to hear about the air leak with the suspension, it’s not the first time I’ve heard that. If Kia are doing a refresh that would be a good thing for buyers.
@Jeffrey J thanks for the input, I took a telluride of a test drive last year and was quite impressed. I haven’t sat in the new GCL yet but from the exterior and pictures it looks amazing. I’m glad you told me about this as I’m on the market for a new SUV this summer so I may take the GCL off my list. Right now I’m leaving towards the Acura MDX. I’ve heard that Tellurides are hard to get at the moment due to demand.
Chrysler made product at the end of the day...Worst reliability and crash test ratings in the industry.. Telluride crashes like a tank and KIA brand is second or third most reliable behind Mazda and Toyota if hasn't taken the no.2 spot... Chrysler is dead last in reliability and crash test ratings... Kia uses high strength steel from their own factory... BMW, Audi, Mercedes Benz uses high strength quality steel also and materials.. This nice looking cheap death trap ahaha will fold like a tin can in an accident... Don't get fooled by the design and initial looks, dig deeper..
Awesome review as always Joe. Your definitely my first choice for vehicle reviews. This vehicle is awesome, checks off lots of boxes for sure. Of course there’s some zonks, but that’s pretty much every vehicle to some degree. Really love the night time driving in this video. Super crystal clear and able to see everything perfect. Thx Joe and Lori for bringing it.
I love that they keep the Jeep off-road capable for its size while incorporating some really nice tech. Really, really nice option in the segment.
Your reviews are the best! You care about the details, and that’s a Big Plus! Congratulations 👍
I love how the GCL gives us a taste of the Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer !
Can't wait for your next review on those two beast!!!
Great Review!
The new Grand Cherokee L is a handsome car and thoughtfully designed. The Jeep group stays on top of its game. As usual, Joe Raiti’s detailed and carefully researched descriptions are simply top-notch and the best in the business. I get more information from his reviews than from any other source.
Good Review. I like the night driving with the night vision and ambient lighting. I would like to see more night driving to see the interiors of other cars and trucks and ambient lighting.
This is a great looking vehicle, inside and out. It sets a new bar in the segment and I'm predicting that Jeep will sell a ton of these. Thanks Joe and Laurie! Great review and I appreciate you taking the time to show us the night vision. It's so cool.
Jeep is swinging for the fences with this one here!!! Thanks for bringing us this beast, Joe and Lori!!! #RaitisRides #OnThrottle #Jeep #GrandCherokee_L
Joe!!....your reviews are the best in business....your videos are becoming part of my daily routine...wake up, get a cup of coffee...watch raiti's rides...start your day🙂.....keep it up 💪🏼💪🏼❤
Well-appointed SUV. Love the colour! Wouldn't mind one. Thanks,Joe. Thanks for all your video work, alright!
Joe- love the addition of a night ride.
I got this 3 weeks ago. Sux that limited is what hit the lots 1st even though reviewers all got the overland or summit model.
Got a white limited and like it minus the grey plastic trim around wheel wells for 55k
And the piano black around cup holder and shifter is a Scratch magnet! 3 weeks and mine is already marked up and that's being mindful. Great video !
Joe you are the Best "" on the throttle
Yeah Really makes my day. Big Thanks. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great review!!! Love the details! I’m anxiously awaiting for the 2022 Grand Cherokee Two-Row review!!
Great review - bought a Summit Reserve a few weeks ago. It's the best Jeep I've ever owned and I've had five of them... well done Jeep!
That is so very awesome! Congrats!
Awesome review Joe! Please feature more night drives of other vehicles!
Great review! I was waiting for the on throttle action!
I'm glad you mentioned how you felt about the 3.6 Joe. It's fine in my 4 door Wrangler but this has to be a load for it. A remarkable car though. I want one.
Joe Thanks for your hard work and the Grand Cherokee is Great to always thumbs UP.
Hello Joe. Once again good in depth review and drive video for this newly released fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Once again nice job with the videography from Lori. In general, Jeep did a great job with the overall design schematics of this vehicle. The exterior has a sleeker/seamless appearance which is nice and better than the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. The interior looks and feels more luxurious over the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee as well. I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee L twice so far in two different trim levels. The first test drive was early last month in the Limited trim. The ride was nice n comfy and it wasn't from any of the top trims. Just imagine the ride comfort from the three high tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve feels like. The second test drive was during the 2nd to last week of last month, but this time it was in the Overland trim. The ride comfort was nicer than the Limited trim due to coming equipped with the adjustable air ride suspension system. For the Overland trim I tried out couple other features which wasn't found on the Limited trim. The hands free foot activated lift gate is nice, the power folding rear seats are nice as well and the McIntosh 19 speaker premium audio system sounded great! On both instances I went to the dealer with the initial intent to test drive one with the legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. However, none arrived yet at the local dealership with that engine. As few of us to some of us know from reading articles in previous months, the HEMI V8 engine is optional on the three top tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve. From my view Jeep should've made the HEMI V8 engine standard on the Summit Reserve trim since it's the highest trim. Historically, previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles had the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine optional started with the Limited trim, but with this new fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L Jeep decided to up the ante by having it optional starting with the Overland trim. There is just one correction to be make based on what was mentioned this video.
The horsepower for the V6 is actually 293 not 290 which was mentioned in the video. You are correct about the horsepower and torque numbers for the 5.7 HEMI V8 engine which is 357 for the horsepower and 390 pound feet of torque. I'm on agreeable terms with you that the use of the piano black was a little too much. I assume Jeep did it like this to go with the flow based on what they saw from the luxury mid-size SUV competitors. In the center console area where the switches and dial shifter are, the use of some kind of metal finish could've been used or a combination of a little piano black and some metal finishes. Maybe in a mid-cycle refresh of this fifth generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L we could see that or if not maybe they'll do something like that for the next generation sixth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Back at the 2nd to last week of last month when I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Overland trim, it came with 20 inch rims like the ones on the Overland trim shown in this video. I like these rims better than the 18 inch rims that it also comes with. In a upcoming review video either with this same trim level or with the two higher trims Summit or Summit Reserve maybe you can demonstrate the hands free foot activated lift gate feature. That feature is on the three top tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve. I tried out that feature and it was nice. As long as the key fob is with you just walk up to the vehicle, move your foot in a kicking motion under the middle part of the bumper and that's it. The lift gate will open. The lift gate will also close the same way. Pretty neat feature. This will be of use for those who have their hands full. To answer the question asked which was the title of this video and was also asked during the video. Without a doubt the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Overland trim definitely destroys the Kia Telluride in the SX trim. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Overland trim easily mops up the floor against the Kia Telluride in the SX trim. The advantages for the Telluride are ventilated seats in the second row of seats and a little more cargo space when all seats are folded down, but that's where the fun stops for it. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Overland trim has many advantages. It has a fully digital driver instrument cluster screen, a 19 speaker premium audio system, a panoramic roof, interior camera, hands free foot activated lift gate, power folding rear seats, more features in the third row seating area, better towing capacity, adjustable air ride suspension system and more. The interior features along with quality materials used for the panels in the Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve trims makes the Jeep Grand Cherokee L competitive with the luxury mid-size SUV competitors. Based on what I saw from those three trim levels the Jeep Grand Cherokee L beats some of those mid-size luxury competitive vehicles. What some people are not aware of is that for this new generation fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep's main objective of interest is to target the luxury SUV competitors. The three top tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve are prime examples of that. Another example of that is when the big brother Jeep Grand Wagoneer gets released. That full size SUV will compete with the luxury full size SUVs while the Wagoneer will compete with the regular full size SUVs. This will be a very good year for Jeep as a whole.
Dude Joe you kill me with the use cases for the cargo/storage areas 🤣🤣💪🏻
I love it my boy Joe keep up the work and I love the video lot real true talk 💯and funny 😄good job 👏👍💯💯💯💯💯💯
This is my dream vehicle! Terrific job Joe.
Thank you soo much Joe and Lori, I always go to your reviews before I definitely look to buy a car, Looking to get either the regular G.C. in the Summit Reserve or the L in the High Altitude and this review definitely made me feel like I am making the right decision!!
Just bought almost this exact vehicle. I got the second row captain’s chairs though and access to the third row is very easy up the middle.
Red?
What's the warranty on this
Outstanding review and crazy sense of humor:)
Thanks David for letting me bring you the cars and the laughs.
I had a Kia Telluride 2020 was going to upgrade to 2022 Telluride nightfall edition but when I saw KIA charging over 6,000 to 10,000 over list price I decided to look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee L I’m glad I did. It is amazing I loved it so much that I traded in my Telluride and got the Overland which is featured in this video.
"Hanky Panky", "Keep Your Hands to Yourself"...Third row seat shout to hit songs...Well done.
Joe great review 👍🏼 Sweet ride. Saving my pennies
Thanks Lori 😊, great review 👍😀👏.
One of the best rear view cameras to date😎
Joe, loved the review! Solid SUV and definitely in my list of options. Would really appreciate your perspective, especially in the mid size segment, around the current chip shortage and how its pushing delivery timelines, availability, pricing and incentives. Tried to go Drive a Telluride in Texas, and dealer price is $5-6k above MSRP, obviously no incentives and no availability in sight! So much for my excitement 😂😂😂!
I really like everything about the new Grand Cherokee L, except for the price. The interior is a huge improvement. It also looks WAY better than the Grand Wagoneer imo. Great job Jeep.
Great review Joe! Looking forward to a hands on review of the new Wagoneer as well.
Jeep is SERIOUS! I love it! Competition brings on more competition
Yes more trucks!!! Awesome video
Torque: 360Nm
Top speed: 192kmh
Maximum towing capacity: 2818kg
Weight: 2090kg
Fuel consumptions: 13.1l/100km in city, 9.43l/100km on highway
Boot space: 481l with third row up, 1327l with third row down, 2394l with third and second rows down
Joe for a while now I’ve been looking for a nice and roomy SUV and I finally made my decision and decided to go with this new Grand Cherokee L overland which I finally bought it yesterday and let me tell u I’m so happy with my decision and like u said this Jeep deserves every penny! Btw I always enjoy watching ur reviews on cars specially the grand Cherokee and ur funny specially when it comes to Twinkies 😂❤ God Bless!
I feel like jeep is really outdoing themselves I saw one if these on the road a few weeks back I love it
Great review, Joe.
I am impressed with the technology especially the night vision and McIntosh sound system
Great review thanks joe
That’s awesome tho I always was interested in the grand Cherokee when it came to suvs but didn’t consider them because they weren’t 3 row but this is a game changer
Every time I see it I think “ Chrysler will soon shock the world with even a greater all new Durango” then I think “as long as they made the grand cherokee with 3 rows, may be there will not be a Durango any more”…
Your review is fantastic as always. Keep it up
Just picked up the white Altitude version! Traded our 2018 Honda Accord and absolutely love it! Power is adequate and ride is comfortable!
Liking Telluride better. Still waiting on that GV70 2.5t review. There has been one at Crown so hoping it will be posted soon. Thanks both of you for amazing work! 👏
Can you stand the STRANGE looks?
nice review Joe!
I'm sold on that jeep. Great video
Simple body lines, Elegant Head and tail lights design 👍, spacious and nice interior for its trim 👍. A worthy V6 chariot for soccer mom my wife said 😁. Well done Jeep, thx and keep em coming Joe.
Wow, Jeep really stepped up their game! Very nice looking SUV!
I love how Jeep took advantage of a fully digital instrument cluster in that they incorporated some very cool features a digital display affords. Some of the lower end brands (e.g. Hyundai) did full digital, but it doesn't do anything other than look like a typical analog instrument cluster except digital. Except for the camera/turn signal feature. That's cool. The Jeep cluster is giving me Audi vibes with how well they're using full digital.
We picked up 2021 GCL limited and are thoroughly impressed. We did not cross shop with Highlander or Telluride… we were looking at 2022 Acura MDX. In the end Jeep won hands down due to overall capability (rear air shocks for towing), more cushioned and quieter ride and an infotainment system that’s intuitive and light years ahead of 2022 MDX (we have optional 10” screen). I’ve a few gripes…. at $50K+ MSRP v6 is underwhelming and you only get white ambient lights. Beyond that Jeep has a hit at their hands.
Nice jeep Joe keep up the good work lori ur doing great
Looks perfect for long road trips
Always love the food references for the storage areas.
So beautiful thank you
Very nice, Jeep did a great job! Still interested in the 2 row version though
Joe love the videos. One thing tho you never give a clear view on your opinion of the overall car verse competition. On throttle yes- but let’s get a real compare review. Should I buy a jeep or a Kia?
Love the color and the rims Joe
Lori really does a great job at videography. I just hope big guns departure was amicable. I always loved how you thanked him at the end of every video. Very classy.
I got a 22 2 row overland. i agree. i dont like the fake vents. the flat black grill should be gloss black. other then that i think thay did a great job on the Grand Cherokee
Joe that Jeep Grand Cherokee is very nice. I love the longer wheel base !!
I just fell in love with this car
The good thing that Jeep didn't screw up the powertrain like the new Ford Explorer. Thanks for your review 👍
You nailed the use case for the plastic seat backs. GD pikachu!! 🤣👍🏻
love the style nice color nice interior
Looks good and I like them.
Joe I love your videos. You always get me in a good mood with your corny jokes haha keep up the great work and hopefully you can review the new KIA EV6 when it becomes available.
Love your videos brother. I just bought a 2021 brand new ( I know it's 2022 but 22's weren't in yet). Test drove a Palisade... Horrible power and stuffy inside. It also has no panoramic roof as jeep does. I have always said I would never buy a Jeep... Eating crow now. Would have been great if you showed of the adaptive cruise control with it's distance setting to maintain from vehicles in front. Got the 5.7 hemi. Loving it man. Keep up the good 👍 work brother!!
The 3rd row looks comfortable
Handsome ride, well done Jeep. That said, I’ll keep my Telluride! :)
THIS is exactly how I want to equip one; too bad finding this option pack WITH the bench seat seems to be impossible.
It would be really cool to see you start to test out the safety features, such as automatic breaking by putting some sort of box (something that wont damage the car) in the way and see if the vehicle will stop on its own. Also, if they come with self parking features, it would be neat to see you parallel park, or perpendicular park.
Just leased an Altitude L and it’s been great.
That is so wonderful Brian! Thanks for sharing that!
Honestly really crazy how muxh new cars are getting
Nice Joe…..thanks. Looking forward to the shorter version
Same here. Third row not as critical to us empty nesters. But I like the ungrades on this new design. Wonder if they'll throw a diesel in there like GM did with the Tahoe/Yukon.
You can get one of these in the Altitude package, few less bells and whistles but plenty of options, looks very sharp and is closer to $43,000
Very good review of the "Overland" model of the Grand Cherokee L! It definitely has some very good option, but I wish you had given the price of this vehicle!
Looking good. It’s a good entry for Jeep.
I really do like this color!
@@RaitisRides I like what they’ve done with the interior.
And comes with 5.7hemi as option, just perfect.
SUPER impressed by the interior. Looks very close to luxury.
You should check the Summit and Summit reserve trim on these. Makes this (which is really nice) look like trash.
Yep very nice in and out only the price
Was on the fence about this one but I holds a bottle of Yoo-hoo in the door. I’m sold!
I like the way that you think!
Looks amazing
Absolutely beautiful SUV
Really considering one of these. Hate that the mirrors are always black though. Jeep did a great job. You are getting more then the Telluride and they aren’t charging over msrp on these yet.
The 360 camera is very helpful
5 year 2017 Durango Owner. Just order one of these on Bright white.. I was so close to picking up a new Durango and then I see these on the Lot and the Interior and Pano sunroof, air suspension, the 10” screens galore, Nappa Leather, 4x4 , McIntosh Sound system, this Jeep is comparable to the Escalade and Range Rover as far as tech and interior and luxury goes .. Kia and Toyota are childs play when it comes to Jeep! L
Inside is so cool
Just traded my Telluride in for this right here today!
How do you like it compared to your Telluride?
@@geohaynes well, I like the heated and ventilated seats in the front and back, with the massaging seats up front. I like the night vision capabilities, and heads up display. And I especially like the McIntosh audio system along with the wireless Android Auto that actually fits the screen. For whatever reason, in the Telluride, Android Auto would only display on 2/3rds of the screen while leaving the last third a black box telling you what phone was connected.
Thing is, I would have gotten another Telluride if the dealers weren't marking that damn thing up to all be damned. I wasn't willing to pay more than I already was for a Telluride, so this right here came right on time.
keep the sticks in the transmissions!!!
The infotainment looks similar to Maserati ones. Interior is just spot on. Exterior could do better but what an understated car
Cant wait for the Grand Wagoner review
I would like to see the rear entertainment system
Wow that one is nice
I liked you already bro but the Yoo-hoo and churro comment warranted you a subscription thank you for an awesome video 😂
Nice presentation, nice car.
Thank you Heinz for letting me share this one with you!
I would like to say, Jeep GCL has rwd based awd. It is by far just better than fwd awd. On top of that, the awd is more advanced than the teletubbie, traverse, etc...Hemi, amazing.
Please Joe I love for you to do a summit reserve review 🙏🏾
